    My tips to staying alive at Amazon, learn the rules how much allowable time off task per dept, don’t ever exceed that and you’ll avoid write ups. If you’re going to sneak headphones be smart about it and don’t let them be visible. Never be seen on your phone even tho phones are now allowed we aren’t supposed to be using them when working. You can clock out 5 mins early or late for beginning and end of shifts (check your building as to every building may have their own regulations), lunch has a 3 minute grace period. Work consistent rather than fast (you’re there for 10 hours a day in most locations) drink water, use the restroom when you need to a lot of people are afraid to go to the bathroom because of how strict some of the managers are but that’s in your allowable tot if they give you a problem talk to hr. Also if the dept gives you too much responsibility or stress after 30 days with no write up you can transfer to a dept you may find easier to work with. Transfers are important to remember im case things in any role get to tough you can transfer out and still keep your pay starting over in a new dept and new role.
    Hope this helps anyone in 2022

    I'm Deaf Amazonian and have been working at Amazon for four months and I acquired work areas that are Pack, Rebin, and Induct.
    Pack was my first for four months and Induct and Rebin was my only most recent, two days ago until today. That was nice but intense non-stop work.
    Pack side is all about balanced including speed, strength, and strategy.
    For Induct and Rebin sides, depending on the process, so basically it's all about high speed and accuracy. We can say it's fairly easy work but gonna be careful when it comes to Induct and Rebin, don't make any mistakes. Too fast, more errors.
    Good video 👍

    • @Terrie.Nguyen

      single induct is difficult (1 person working 2 conveyer lines). rebin is difficult. double induct (one person per conveyer line) is extremely easy to the point of boredom. i think rebin you can easily get hurt. too much spinning and turning

      The only few good thing about it is the Pay, and UPT and PTO.
      I did Amazon for 8 months hated it but the management I had and the people I worked with made it very Bearable… I did singles pack and not the thing that he’s doing. Singles pack is similar to that but we don’t got the walls and shit, or rebin or induct. We have “Packing, Water spidering, and Tote runners, and Smart Pack (Apart of Singles pack.)” singles pack is a fun department but I would not recommend working for Amazon.

    • @Terrie.Nguyen
      @Terrie.Nguyen  2 года назад

      graveyard is slower. rebin to me was difficult as you're constantly turning/moving for 3 hours or more. induct is super easy when it's double induct. and it's easier to have headphones when you're inducting. you could ask them to put your at a preferred job, many times they honor it.

    • @lilcarp87
      @lilcarp87 2 года назад +1

      Nobody likes rebin. Here’s my tip how they give you less times work in Rebin:
      Purposely hide the items or switch it to another chute (yes, making problems) so they won’t let you stay there for too long.
      They might need to pack 300uph then you make 30 hidden items. If you make less than 10%, they won’t bother to change.
      And if they intend to put you in Rebin, go as slow as you can, then tell ‘em you are getting dizzy because of constantly turning too much
      OR it’s time for you to be trained in Problem Solving where many weak-work ethic won’t come out and do Rebin
      If you are sweat in Rebin, tries to make the rate, Problem Solvers won’t do shit, they just stand behind the screen and chit chat bullshit. Have them some jobs.

    Okay, as an Amazonian I feel like I should share my opinions on this video. For context, I work at a delivery station, not one of the main warehouses. Obviously, there's going to be a lot of differences between our experiences and you should take that into consideration. That being said, here are my main thoughts on the video.
    First up, he wakes up far earlier than myself and my co-workers. I get up at 11:00 PM, because the shift starts at 1:20 AM. We are all up before the sun, in fact it only comes out over halfway through our shift. If you don't like the night shift the delivery stations may not be for you. His shift starts at 7:45 AM, and ends at 6:15 PM. Mine begins at 1:20 AM and ends at 11:50 PM. That's a 10 and a half hour shift. The extra 30 minutes is for lunch. Thankfully, I only work 4 days a week instead of five. Occasionally they will give us MET (Mandatory Extra Time) and we will work 5, or even 6 full shifts a week. We do not get a choice in this. We can only change our schedule by talking to HR, and only if we have a valid reason to change our work schedules.
    He mentions that he doesn't like doing rebin because it requires lots of walking back and forth. At my station, all but 3 jobs require constant walking. The ones that don't require constant lifting. You're constantly exercising at my station the whole time you're there. Make no mistake, Amazon is a VERY physical job. You will be sore, tired, and beat up at the end of the week. The job is simple, but it is not easy. It's very fast paced and exerting for almost every position. Just as well, it is also incredibly boring. Imagine grabbing a box, moving it or putting it on a belt, and repeating those few tasks for an entire day. Once you get good enough at the job where you don't need to exert all your brain power on each task, you will find that you have plenty of time to think.
    You will almost always feel undervalued and unappreciated at ANY Amazon position. Unless you create a personal bond with the managers, they will only see you as a took for the job, one that can get a certain set of numbers for their warehouse. The company itself does not give a single shit about you - you are just a number in their system. I've never had a manager that didn't know my name, but in all fairness the delivery stations are much smaller and employ less people than the others. This sounds like it could absolutely be true for the larger warehouses. I will say, a lot of people (myself included, unfortunately) don't bother to learn new people's names until they've stayed for a week or two due to our high turnover rate.
    The pay can be good or bad depending on where you live and your circumstances. I make $15.80/HR with an additional $2.00 shift differential. Nearly $18 is great for me, an average high school graduate still pushing through college. At McDonalds, I made less than $11/HR. For my coworker with a Master's degree in engineering working here while looking for a job, and single parents with multiple kids, it's not so great. It is what you can make out of it.
    Is it worth working here? I can't recommend doing it for more than a year. For the love of god, don't stay that long. Don't get caught in the loop. And if you do, make sure to unionize.

    • @Terrie.Nguyen

      your schedule is locked. you can request days off, it's in the Amazon A to Z app. you can't go up to your manager and ask them to help. the managers only manage the process, not the people. amazon is not a people company. you are employee 2987364892927 and if you need any help it's all inside that Amazon A to Z app. there is an HR area in the building with real human HR people if the app can not help.
