    I agree with you 110%. As a former old school dj who is considering getting a system. Yes I know the are far advanced to the system I started on. I was always told " if you are gonna do something . Learn everything you can and all the tools you need " this controller has that. I agree with you on every level. The price point would be awesome if under 2000

    I totally agree with everything you're saying, I like the Numark NV2 but there needs to be a controller without any use of a laptop. Great vid :)

    I have a DJM-2000 and two XDJ-1000 as my setup, solves a ton of the problems, I can go without a laptop or with. I have 4 Channels, tons of effects, touch screen. I think that in some ways that my setup beats a full Pioneer NXS2 setup. And most if not all controllers can't really compare. Personally I don't really need the turning platters, but cool idea for sure!

      Denon makes great hardware. I owned x1600 mixer (great mixer for the money) and their SC3900 which also was a turntable/cdj. However, their Engine software was horrible. I finally ended up selling everything and went Pioneer. Even with the added expense (which was considerable) I never looked back.

    • @Stonely1974
      @Stonely1974 8 лет назад +2

      agreed on the engine quality and efficiency. it could be better. Innovation wise, the MCX8000 could very well be the turning point for the future of standalone controller.

    liked your video but I like ns7 3 it has everything you mentioned. although you need a laptop you can close it and use the n73 screen display to select songs. also after picking a song or songs you can choose a visual wave form or just choose a record display for a more old skool feel for those who feel its better to listen than to see what your playing

  • @JimLigon

    Your description, (well done, by the way), of a perfect controller is right on point, as far as I am concerned. The only thing I would add is that the laptop, although not a necessity, should be an option if you are talking about the perfect controller. It should be compatible with RekordBox & Serato and I would be all in if it were reasonably priced. Some people don't mind using a laptop and some of us really like Serato. Just my 2 cents. Great video, however! My first video watched from your channel & you now have a new subscriber. Keep up the good work, bro! :)

    *Arcade buttons as in the DJ Techtools midi fighter 3D,
    *rotary-push-buttons+LED as in the midi fighter twister,
    *4 bands EQ as in the A&H xone:92,
    *parametric filter/boost/equilizer as in the xone DB2/DB4 and the playdifferently model1
    *'Tube' warmth per channel (less digital sound, warmer, fuller bass and kicks) as in the playdifferently model1
    *10 channel (5 stereo channel) soundcard (+ 5 stereo inputs ?)
    *additional Traktor F1 faders (and pads ?) for STEMS control + step sequencer control
    *Full TRAKTOR control :-)
    *Matrix input selction as in the denon dn-x1500/dn-x1600/dn-x1700 and the A&H xone DB2/DB4

      By, the way, i'm also one of those dj's who actually really has a dozain controllers including the sc3900, 'all in one's ' , traktor controllers knobs (djtechtools) seperate mixers and external audio effectors.
      One thing to concider: if you have modular controllers you can change this modular controller if broken or if there are new functionalities in your software, this is not possible in an all in one.
      Real modular controllers who link up to each other, not with usb (as in the x-link or so) and being able to add more buttons/sliders etc. or leave them out.

    I already own DENON MCX8000 and all what I can say it is ..
    A Swarovski diamond , just lookin' at it.
    I think, DENON will prepare, not for 2017 , maybe for 2018 a new DENON with 4 DECKS FULLY CONTROLLED by the Engine.
    Another controller that give's you emotions is ROLAND DJ-808, but too bad that is not has screens.
    So, someone will just need how to figure it out to build a controller that will smash the globe market. And this is the future of dj'ing

    One thing you have to understand is if they have you the perfect controller or setup that never broke they wouldn't make money they're always gonna create systems that have flaws just so they can say oh will improve next time now what pioneer did with the ddj 1000 was insane all that thing needed was flash drive capability and if the screen on the job wheel was able to see your song tracklist and they would of got a perfect 10 out of 10 I still give it a 9 out of 10 that controller is amazing

      I have it. For cd or usb stick it's great, with rekordbox, traktor or virtual dj it's awful, on mac or w10 it stops seeing it as a controller, I've tried reinstall the software and the OS and nothing, rekordbox dj rarely stops seeing the controller but it has lag on a 2015 macbook or the latest intel platform with W10. The concept it's good but the implementation it's crap. Too bad..

    What it sounds like is you'd be happy with the Denon MCX8000 and/or the Pioneer DDJ RZX. I highy doubt you'll ever see a controller with all your wishes for under $2k especially with LCD screens and a motorized platter it would be more in the price range of $3k.
    Another thing you haven't thought of is the weight this controller would be, the DDJ SZ is already a fairly heavy controller so to add screens and a motorized platter would make it around the 150lb mark + adding a case you're at 200lbs +!
    It always makes me laugh when guys say they want to do away with a laptop for djing but yet want to have LCD screens, the only difference of the 2 are the size of the screen you're looking at, lets compare the 2 similarities.
    Laptop; Generally 13-15" screen size used for file searching and visual wave forms, has hard drive to store MP3 files.
    USB Flash drive + screens on the controller; 6-8" screen size used for file searching and visual wave forms, USB flash drive to store MP3 files.
    I usually put my laptop off to the side when djing so I am not blocked by the screen when playing EXACTLY like the guys you mentioned from the Redbullstyl3 DJ competitions.
    IMO the Pioneer DDJ-RZX with the ability to attach a USB thumb drive would be the ultimate controller.

    You missed two point"s:
    1- Video control. If you aren't Vjaying, you will be soon or missing gig's.
    2- Actually, a "5" channel controller, to better control your mic.
    I think the MCX 8000, is heading in the right direction.

    That system already kind of exists, it's called the Numark NS7 III, the best DJ controller on the market for people who want the closest thing to turntables, since it's the only controller on the market with actual spinning motors on the platters... and it's only about $1500, much cheaper than getting turntables or CDJs with an expensive Serato mixer... and much cheaper than Pioneer's DDJ-SZ, the most expensive controller on the market at $2000 and it doesn't even have spinning motors on the platters!

    • @DJRoubo
      @DJRoubo  7 лет назад +1

      I own the Numark NS7 III. It's pretty close but it is by no means standalone. I want something that does not require me to carry around a laptop. I do think I might have a workaround for the NS7. I will post something soon.

    How would you keep the price down if you eliminated the need for a laptop? Having a high-end processor and software onboard would drive up the price.

    • @DJRoubo
      @DJRoubo  7 лет назад

      You don't necessarily need a high end processor. I can almost run Traktor and Serato on a $100 Tablet.

    • @DJRoubo
      @DJRoubo  7 лет назад

      I don't think it really requires a high end processor to make everything work. When you only have to deal with one piece of kit it is much easier to optimize the software.

    • @wakkowarner8810
      @wakkowarner8810 7 лет назад

      I guess I use my high-end processor to transform sounds such as switch the pitch or make two sounds that don't match very well, match up so they can be mixed. If you don't need to do many mathematically complex transforms to your sounds, a high-end processor probably is not needed.

    If Pioneer actually made this... It would cost about 3.5k or more. Also technically is it a controller? Sounds more like an all in one unit that can be used as a midi controller? Also the motors for those platters plus all the other stuff added in there, this thing would be so heavy. I highly doubt you could get this to the specs you want without it weighing too much. It does look good, but taking a memory stick or cd's to a club vs using this? I'm not into all in one units tbh, guess that's my biggest issue. I'm a bit old school and like being able to replace individual units, especially the mixer.

    • @DJRoubo
      @DJRoubo  7 лет назад

      The one nice thing about an all in one system is that is all in one! No laptop. No multiple things to plug in. Less troubleshooting. It becomes more like an instrument. I like both systems to be sure.

  • @jmd3554
    @jmd3554 7 лет назад

    well the ddj rzx is basically that except for the vinil-style jogwheels and the laptop. It has screens, so you don't even have to look at your laptop, it has 4 channels. it has the pads. To me the RZX is the perfect controller. If only i could afford it ^^

    • @jmd3554
      @jmd3554 7 лет назад

      gotta add that i personally prefer a big 4 channel controller like the the RZ or the RZX over a CDJ and Mixer Setup. I just love the Pads and their possibilities and also the portability factor of a controller and of course the price factor because hell yeah CDJs and Mixers from Pioneer are expensive. If i have to use a laptop to get all the (in my opinion) advantages of a controller i don't mind using one

    • @DJRoubo
      @DJRoubo  7 лет назад

      My main thing is that I want my controller to be my instrument. I really want everything to be all in one including processing power. It sort of like having a super thin high powered laptop but I have to plug in an external hard drive because the onboard drive is so small and I need an external USB hub because it only has one port and I three other things I need to plug into it. That really starts to defeat the purpose of that beautiful thin laptop.
      I do really like the RZX...except for the cost. I could easily see myself getting that one day.

    • @jmd3554
      @jmd3554 7 лет назад

      DJ Roubo yeah i get that point. I have that problem too. What i would like to see is a Controller that has a USB port so that you could have all your songs on there just like with CDJs. You would still be using the software on your laptop but the music would be taken from the Flashdrive. I don't think that that will happen tho

    Pretty sure that the XDJ-RX2 is the closest thing from Pioneer you could get (the 2 channal mixer ,cheap ass non mechanical jogs and limited file system support are the only complains I have)
    Spinning jogs is not really that useful if you ask me ... but build in DVS support would be nice (since there is nothing better than mixing with real turntables)
    in the end most stuff is personal preference and they only make what millions of people will buy
    So if we all just stop buying the stuff they make now and ask for these kind of controllers they will eventually be making what we want !!!

    Pioneer will never do a spinning platter, Denon might cause they have for almost all there decks, Denons newest player the SC5000 is probably the best player out there today, at this moment. Pioneer makes a great product. Now from a technical stand point, if you have ever opened up a cdj or ever had to work on one. It is shocking how cheaply made they are. the materials are cheap and flimsy internally. I'm shocked what we pay for them compared to whats on the inside. We pay for a brand name of a company that has become complacent. I guess if I was in pioneers position I would do the same thing, they are here to make money. Anyway hopefully Denons new entry at the very least will cause some pricing compation and inovation. I have a feeling tho that pioneers next deck won't have all the features the the new denons and will be 1000 bucks more than the Nexus 2. Like 3 grand a unit.

  • @LukeM
    @LukeM 7 лет назад

    This thing would cost like $5000 and if it really does just include "the best components" wouldn't that not be very good for the market as everything else wouldn't compare to this "marvel". Also not all djs use controllers, lots of people make beats live with drum machines and sequencers and an ableton push or a launchpad, just to give one setup. I also think that thing would be heavy and cumbersome as all hell sporting full-size turntables and screens and pads and a top of the line mixer in the middle. Idk or care if anyone agrees but I don't think this idea is practical at all

    so 1. you did not do your research on controllers of today before you made this and 2. you definitely need to take some public speaking classes because your voice is killing me. you have the mcx8000, the new ddj-rzx or the numark nv3 or how about the numark ns7 3, you have to look at what dj is moving towards and you will see the controllers that companies are coming out with definitely have what you are looking for and will probably top what you can make.

      Two things: I am aware that my vocal delivery here could use some improvement. Honestly that was one reason I started the channel. At the time of the video I owned the NS7 III and I had the RZX briefly a few months ago. In my opinion they don'e qualify. But I do appreciate you making the point. We are definitely making progress. I hope to update this video soon. Thanks for commenting!
