Jog adjust: as a dj that is now transitioning from controllers to CDJs I didn't understand why the sensibility of the jogwheel was so different, now it makes sense... It's emulating vinyls! Thanks mate
@@51xeno How would you tune my FLX10 to act like a current CDJ? Jog wheels seem to be mechanical, too on the FLX10. I started out with CDJ-100 and 400, that's what I was used to back in the day in terms of handling.
My favourite tip is the jog adjust: as a beginner dj I never understood why these were so sensitive. Your explanation was clear and I learned something new from it! Thank you!
That tip about not relying on performance features on controllers was my favorite! I had been thinking I was underutilizing my controller cause I wasn’t using all the different features but this makes me feel more confident that what I’m learning will be easier to transfer over whenever I end up upgrading

My favorite tip was Link Cable, my dream always is to play on CDJ's and actually I'm restarting with the FLX4 after almost 20 years I started as DJ, I didn't how it was making it possible the connection between all CDJ's and the Mixer. It shows how far the technolgy has reached to help us to perform in our sets.
Jamie, thank You so much for showing these differences to people, but What I can recommend You as a people who Has never had opportunity to Play on CDJ's please be aware od Your level of skills and then nothing will surprise You when You start on CDJ's. I remember my first gig playing out of CDJ's, I was so stressed of using them. One of the DJ's who was playing after me said " What are You afraid of? And I replied "everything" . He said one thing to me " this is the same equipment as You've got at home, but bigger " with This attitude i felt more confident. I played quite nice gig and from this moment I finally felt that there is nothing to worry about.
Favorite tip is FX Channel Setup! I played on CDJs last night for the first time. Figured most things out but not the effects. Now I’ll know what to look for next time I’m on CDJs. Thank you!
I hear you, that's great advice. I spend more time on loop tightening, looping, etc. now, as opposed to doing tricks with slip rolls, I do a lot of pad work also. I realised that a few months back. I've got a PioneerXDJ-XZ. I'm trying to level up to a 4 deck setup. Costs a fortune. I want 3 CDJ 3000's & a Sequencer. I own an RMX 1000. I'll get there one day 💯
My favorite tip was bringing you own locally stored music, at home it's all to easy to mix from a streaming service, but this tip got me thinking on track selection, what to play and which song to invest in. It motived me to be more critical on what I put in my sets with the added benefit of supporting the artists putting out those great tunes I love playing so much.
The last tip was deffo my fave!!! Having started out on flx4s at Christmas I was soooo reliant on beatjump and pad fx to spice up my mixes. Then having gone to pirate and using CDJs, my world was flipped upside down. My first gig was spent staring at the screen using the beat jump feature, I’ve now switched to flx10s and I do not use beat jump in the same way😂😂. Thanks for a great video, hope I win the master classes!
Fave Tip: Jog Adjust. I moved over from vinyl to controllers, but only recently started dabbling with CDJs at Pirate. I didn't realise the adjust set up was different. This will really help me on my next Pirate session next week. Thanks CF.
My favorite tip was the last one, regarding features. I have been thinking about the FLX10 for its STEM features, but also was worried that they might not transfer over to club setups. This video answered that question! Thanks!
The jog adjust is by far my favorite tip! It's imo the most vital thing to understand when switching, as beatmatching is one of the, if not the most important thing to get down. Thanks for the fantastic video as always!
Hi Jamie, my favourite tip was to stick around until the end to see what a fantastic prize give away you're offering! As always, very informative and inspirational video content.
The Jogwheel difference and the reason why you are suggesting how to beat synch using the jogs in your course - I am doing - now makes a lot of sense! Thank you for this vid!
Most useful tip for me at this time is the differences in jog adjust between CDJs and controllers. I have an FLX-10 at home to practice, and i chose this one because i thought it would be the closest controller i could get to a CDJ. I would have never known that the jog wheels were different if you hadnt mentioned it. Thanks for the tip!
Thank you🙏. I think all of the tips were great. But the last tip about not relying on “special features” was the best in my opinion - it also goes to show how creative pros are. However - the tip about adjusting using the jog wheels were also great 🙏🙌 Keep up the good
Crossfader! Long time listener first time caller. My favorite tip was the streaming integration. I have been deeply considering joining one of the streaming sites but after hearing this video I'm going to stick to regular downloading. Have been eyeing down your music management course and hope to win the entire package. Blessings to you and the Crossfader fam! Thanks for all you do.
love your videos guys! I've been watching your videos for my whole career (i'm now nearly 15 and started djing when I was 10)! you've really helped me progress a lot and help me play my first gig successfuly!! 🔥
Best tip was the fact the my little entry model box has more toys than the club cdj's blows my mind - Good to note - even though I dream of the big club debut, I'm not there yet but hey with these tips one day you never know - Ibiza watch out :)
Favourite Tip: Beat FX section! I could see myself getting caught out at the worst possible time and embarrassing myself if I were to assume there was no difference between this on my controller and CDJs. Great video btw & love all you do at Crossfader 🔥 Thanks!
For me, the thing with the performance pads is really important. I am using them a lot and I should also try to perform from time to time without them. Thx for sharing and I would be happy to get your courses.
Great Video! Favorite tip: definetly the link cable one - as someone, who's new to playing on CDJs and often finds the setup done beforehand, it helps a lot to be able to ensure, that the CDJs are really "linked".
the fx channel setup is my favorite tip. i was just watching a dj last night in the club and i was watching every move in purpose of maybe learning something new. i found out he was tapping the green tap button but i couldnt figure out why. less than 24 hours later i have my specific answer
for me personally, the "jog adjust" tip was the best. i was really confused at my first gig with cdj, when i turned the jogwheels but nothing happened 😄
That FX Channel BPM control tip was my favourite, super helpful to know what happens to the effect when its out of beat and also how to adjust it down to the decimal! Thank you!!
My favorite tip was about the difference in streaming integration between DJ controllers and CDJs. I didn't realize that you can't directly put music from a streaming service like SoundCloud onto a USB and use it with CDJs. This is such an important point because it shows how CDJs are still primarily geared towards offline music management, whereas controllers offer more flexibility with streaming. It's a good reminder to always have a solid offline library ready, and to know the strengths and limitations of the equipment you're using. Great insight!
My favourite tip is the performance features and knowing what is an isn't available when walking into a club and how I will need to adjust my set. Would love to know more!
The jog wheel tips were incredibly helpful, especially since there are so many different ways to feel the difference depending on the device you're using. This is particularly true if you've used other units like the Prime4 or Pioneer FLX4. These tips really made it easier to understand how to adjust and fine-tune the jog wheel sensitivity on different equipment!
The link cable tip was my favourite tip, I had CDJ 1000 mk3’s years ago but sold them and have been thinking of buying CDJ 3000’s but am not up to date on the latest software and functionality of these so the link cable tip was very helpful 👍👍
The best tip for me was how the jog wheels really work. Very useful since i have a gig coming up where I'll be using CDJs again and I'm a little rusty lol
The link cable & jog adjust info was awesome...I'm starting to play out but am limited now by laptop & controller and have been offered play time with CDJ nexus 2000's to up my game!
Hey guys! My favourite tip was definitely the jog wheel speed adjust technique. I DJ full time (private parties, corporates and weddings) on an RX3. Occasionally I’ll be booked for a venue that has in house CDJs and I’d love to boost my confidence using these! Thanks for the tips 🙌🏻
I think the most valuable tip mentioned in the video is to realize the limits of CDJs as opposed to DJ controllers. The advanced features on some controller boards is easy to get used to and rely on them they will be missed if you go to CDJs and don't have them. Great video! Thx!!
This whole 'jog adjust' thing has really surprised me. I used to DJ about 15 years ago on those CDJ 800/1000s, and I've never used a controller in my life. I just totally assumed the jog wheels would work the same way they do on CDJs.
I'm still using a DDJ-1000 (Rekordbox) for my bedroom DJing and sporadic events so I've become very reliant on how the jog wheels are capacitive vs mechanical. So the tip for short rapid adjusts for the jog wheel to manipulate beat is absolutely key.
The Tip that stands out for me is the Efx Channel Difference on a Mixer ,compared to a Controller which I been using.Great to have learnt it through your video.Much love and respect from South Africa
Probably my favorite tip was 5: Performance Features. It's good to know that such a... vital(?) aspect is different and that the controller's help ease you in but they also prop you up a bit. Great stuff and thanks for the info!
favorite tip was definately the one about the jog adjust, I had no clue until now there was a diffrence but I always felt something was off. This whole video just reminded me ive got a lot to learn!
My favourite tip was the jog wheel. I have been using technics forever and am thinking about going digital and thought a controller might be a cheaper option. I will hold off and spend more because I love the feeling of using traditional turntables. Thanks.
Honestly as someone who uses a fair bit of streaming integration on my FLX4 this was pretty helpful for me to remember how much tougher it will be doing this on a CDJ. Definitely gonna start downloading more music for the future leading up to my first CDJ gig haha
Used to turntables and moving platters. Keep thinking I want cdj’s to learn how to work on that setup (also multichannel would be nice w link). Interesting to learn about job wheels on CDJ’s being based off tables. Very happy to hear that one!
The final tip is my favorite. As a newcomer to DJing, I've opted for the FLX-4 controller. Honestly, I believe this advice puts me on the right path to begin.
Great video with a good amount of information. My favorite part of the video was the link cable functionalities and the tip on not to rely on the stacked wave forms. It really is a whole different way to DJ without all the effects and the visual cues of the stacked waveform.
Great content... I was not really aware of the analogue sharp shifting required for CDJs for fine tune the pitch... even coming from Vinil long time ago background...! This was my favorite...
Absolutely. It helps that I came from primitive 2-channel cheap mixers and vinyl but deliberately keep my transitions based on beat matching, cue, eq, bass switch, levels, basic faders-anything that I could do on a set-up I’ve never seen before. Device-specific magic is great if you only ever use your own rig or an identical one.
My favourite tip of yours is to be prepared with more basic features such has hot cues etc. This is useful as i rely on a dj controller at home, and intend to play someday in places where i can not use it ! Thank you so much for this video
Just wanted to say I love these videos so informative and learning. So much from them my favourite tip was jog adjustment never even thought about that, something so small but can make all the difference when using different equipment I will definitely be incorporating that when using my controller from now on so when I move over to cdjs I will be used to moving the jog wheels 🙂
Im a dj looking to get myself a set of cdjs, I was surprised by and thankful you gave an explanation of the jog wheel adjust differences. The comparison to the turntables I feel will help me visualise the movement when I do transition, thanks for the video
My favorite team was on streaming integration. Might sound a little old school but the best library is your library, and that’s part of what makes a dj special. Having your own selection of tunes to get the crowd going without having to rely on a stream service for help.
My favorite tip is understanding performance features. I have only been mixing on DDJ-SX (3) models for 11 years. Played on CDJ's last week and all my heavy effects on DnB was lost during the live set as I was getting used to the CDJ performance features. A lot to learn still!
Great video! My personal favourite tip was the Jog adjust. Seen so many people jump from controller to CDJs and then wonder why they can’t beat match properly 😂
my favorite is the link cable via router that let all 3 devices communicate properly to make use all the feature of every device, thank you for sharing the knowledge , you guys are really a pillar in the industry of djing
def the performance features. So I recently started learning how to dj and bought my first controller and I was so interested in all the features that this one haves, but eventually I got invited to one of my friends birthday party and she had all this cdj set up and I was blow minded because it was totally different of what my controller is. I kinda investigated the whole set up and it was difficult to understand but fun to explore. After the party i got home and I tried to do research on the differences between the controller and de cdjs but i was not able to find something that cleared my questions. So thank you for this video, it was very helpful and clear.
Favourite tip has to be not relying on the performance features. I’m just starting out and knowing that has made me realise I just need to focus on the basics first and add what I can do with what would be available as in progress through the equipment, and really knuckle down on that to make sure it’s locked in. Thanks for the video, I’m enjoying all your content at the moment
my favorite tip was the one with the fx channel setup cuz fx can be overwhelming in general when switching to cdjs so it's important to get rid of extra problems there
Favourite tip was about the link cable, never assuming it will work and always have 2 usbs to load each deck independently. Infact, making sure that you can do as much as you can without relying too much on the technology, and build some good foundations.
All of them were unique and informative, especially the last one regarding performance features. For beginner DJ's, like myself, the switch can be daunting and all the buttons are different, so any name similarities will stand out, and I am going to rely on this one for open decks...All about the practice! Thanks so much CrossFader peeps!
Great tip about the beat effects, tap, timing, auto etc in the FX Channel Set-Up section! Those are features where the reason why something is blinking or flashing on a CDJ may not be abundantly clear. Explaining not only how this works, but also, how to fix and adjust effects manually based on BPMs would have been so tedious to determine on my own!
Jog adjust was my favourite tip. I always thought it looked cool when djs beat match in shart quick moves and i never knew why. I have a ddj 400 and i always do it slow. I will try to learn it the cdj way!
Check out The Complete DJ Package wearecrossfader.co.uk/complete-dj/
THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE.... OK CDJs are 3 times as expensive and take up 3 times as much space. It's just a dick comparison. sorry but that's the truth
Jog adjust: as a dj that is now transitioning from controllers to CDJs I didn't understand why the sensibility of the jogwheel was so different, now it makes sense... It's emulating vinyls! Thanks mate
How on earth is that anything like vinyl?

The tip of the use of the jogwheel was something i didn't already know. Just starting to learn on how to DJ.
def the performance features.
The channel setup was helpful, I mainly use the echo effect when DJ’ing on my controller so seeing how to adjust to a CDJ was helpful 😎
Favourite tip has to be not relying on the performance features. I’m just starting out and knowing that has made me realise I just need to focus on the basics first and add what I can do with what would be available as in progress through the equipment, and really knuckle down on that to make sure it’s locked in. Thanks for the video, I’m enjoying all your content at the moment
my favorite tip was the one with the fx channel setup cuz fx can be overwhelming in general when switching to cdjs so it's important to get rid of extra problems there
Great video! The FX channel setup is clutch. I can see that as something that would trip me up if I didn’t know that ahead of time.
Favorite tip: the last one. It really helps in my learning journey!
Performance features for me, definitely. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work💪🏼
Favourite tip was about the link cable, never assuming it will work and always have 2 usbs to load each deck independently. Infact, making sure that you can do as much as you can without relying too much on the technology, and build some good foundations.
I found the FX channel setup chapter very helpful!
All of them were unique and informative, especially the last one regarding performance features. For beginner DJ's, like myself, the switch can be daunting and all the buttons are different, so any name similarities will stand out, and I am going to rely on this one for open decks...All about the practice! Thanks so much CrossFader peeps!
My favourite tip is the jog adjust lol. I had no idea about this ! Thanks for the tips
Second tip was DEFINITELY my favorite, thanks ❤❤❤
My favorite tip was the jog adjust! Thank you!
My favourite tip is FX channel set up and how it works with the link cable. Solid stuff love your videos
Favorite tip was the FX Setup. I've got a couple of potential gigs lined up after a month and I can't wait to get on a pro set up. Thanks for the vid.
The jog wheel tip was my favourite. Great video!
Jog adjust was my favourite tip. I always thought it looked cool when djs beat match in shart quick moves and i never knew why. I have a ddj 400 and i always do it slow. I will try to learn it the cdj way!
