Jog adjust: as a dj that is now transitioning from controllers to CDJs I didn't understand why the sensibility of the jogwheel was so different, now it makes sense... It's emulating vinyls! Thanks mate
@@51xeno How would you tune my FLX10 to act like a current CDJ? Jog wheels seem to be mechanical, too on the FLX10. I started out with CDJ-100 and 400, that's what I was used to back in the day in terms of handling.
That tip about not relying on performance features on controllers was my favorite! I had been thinking I was underutilizing my controller cause I wasn’t using all the different features but this makes me feel more confident that what I’m learning will be easier to transfer over whenever I end up upgrading
Despite all the performance features available, the key to any good DJ set has been and always will be music selection and smooth transition between tracks. If you focus most on that the performance features become just a little fun extra to use occasionally
My favourite tip is the jog adjust: as a beginner dj I never understood why these were so sensitive. Your explanation was clear and I learned something new from it! Thank you!
I hear you, that's great advice. I spend more time on loop tightening, looping, etc. now, as opposed to doing tricks with slip rolls, I do a lot of pad work also. I realised that a few months back. I've got a PioneerXDJ-XZ. I'm trying to level up to a 4 deck setup. Costs a fortune. I want 3 CDJ 3000's & a Sequencer. I own an RMX 1000. I'll get there one day 💯
I'm the begginer in Dj-ing, The most important and also suprising message was that, going Pro I still need (because it's better) mp3's rather than go into streaming mode. I was just about to get Tidal's dj extension, now it seems that I need to buid my mp3 library more. Cheers, love this chanell, I've learnt a lot.

My favorite tip was Link Cable, my dream always is to play on CDJ's and actually I'm restarting with the FLX4 after almost 20 years I started as DJ, I didn't how it was making it possible the connection between all CDJ's and the Mixer. It shows how far the technolgy has reached to help us to perform in our sets.
Favorite tip is FX Channel Setup! I played on CDJs last night for the first time. Figured most things out but not the effects. Now I’ll know what to look for next time I’m on CDJs. Thank you!
Jamie, thank You so much for showing these differences to people, but What I can recommend You as a people who Has never had opportunity to Play on CDJ's please be aware od Your level of skills and then nothing will surprise You when You start on CDJ's. I remember my first gig playing out of CDJ's, I was so stressed of using them. One of the DJ's who was playing after me said " What are You afraid of? And I replied "everything" . He said one thing to me " this is the same equipment as You've got at home, but bigger " with This attitude i felt more confident. I played quite nice gig and from this moment I finally felt that there is nothing to worry about.
The last tip was deffo my fave!!! Having started out on flx4s at Christmas I was soooo reliant on beatjump and pad fx to spice up my mixes. Then having gone to pirate and using CDJs, my world was flipped upside down. My first gig was spent staring at the screen using the beat jump feature, I’ve now switched to flx10s and I do not use beat jump in the same way😂😂. Thanks for a great video, hope I win the master classes!
My favorite tip was bringing you own locally stored music, at home it's all to easy to mix from a streaming service, but this tip got me thinking on track selection, what to play and which song to invest in. It motived me to be more critical on what I put in my sets with the added benefit of supporting the artists putting out those great tunes I love playing so much.
favourite tip was the tap adjust for the bpm setting, also manually putting in your bpm , I had been trying to find a video on this for ages finally came across very handy
Fave Tip: Jog Adjust. I moved over from vinyl to controllers, but only recently started dabbling with CDJs at Pirate. I didn't realise the adjust set up was different. This will really help me on my next Pirate session next week. Thanks CF.
Hey guys! My favourite tip was definitely the jog wheel speed adjust technique. I DJ full time (private parties, corporates and weddings) on an RX3. Occasionally I’ll be booked for a venue that has in house CDJs and I’d love to boost my confidence using these! Thanks for the tips 🙌🏻
Favourite tip has to be not relying on the performance features. I’m just starting out and knowing that has made me realise I just need to focus on the basics first and add what I can do with what would be available as in progress through the equipment, and really knuckle down on that to make sure it’s locked in. Thanks for the video, I’m enjoying all your content at the moment
Most useful tip for me at this time is the differences in jog adjust between CDJs and controllers. I have an FLX-10 at home to practice, and i chose this one because i thought it would be the closest controller i could get to a CDJ. I would have never known that the jog wheels were different if you hadnt mentioned it. Thanks for the tip!
The jog adjust is by far my favorite tip! It's imo the most vital thing to understand when switching, as beatmatching is one of the, if not the most important thing to get down. Thanks for the fantastic video as always!
My favorite tip was about the difference in streaming integration between DJ controllers and CDJs. I didn't realize that you can't directly put music from a streaming service like SoundCloud onto a USB and use it with CDJs. This is such an important point because it shows how CDJs are still primarily geared towards offline music management, whereas controllers offer more flexibility with streaming. It's a good reminder to always have a solid offline library ready, and to know the strengths and limitations of the equipment you're using. Great insight!
My favourite tip of yours is to be prepared with more basic features such has hot cues etc. This is useful as i rely on a dj controller at home, and intend to play someday in places where i can not use it ! Thank you so much for this video
my favorite is the link cable via router that let all 3 devices communicate properly to make use all the feature of every device, thank you for sharing the knowledge , you guys are really a pillar in the industry of djing
My favorite has to be the link cables and jog wheel adjustment! I had no idea about that since I'm a beginner DJ and have mainly been practicing on a controller. It's amazing how CDJs offer so much more control and flexibility, especially with the jog adjust feature. I'm super excited to keep learning and hopefully win The Complete DJ Package to upgrade my setup and take the next step toward becoming a professional DJ! Thank you!
Great Video! Favorite tip: definetly the link cable one - as someone, who's new to playing on CDJs and often finds the setup done beforehand, it helps a lot to be able to ensure, that the CDJs are really "linked".
The Jogwheel difference and the reason why you are suggesting how to beat synch using the jogs in your course - I am doing - now makes a lot of sense! Thank you for this vid!
I think the most valuable tip mentioned in the video is to realize the limits of CDJs as opposed to DJ controllers. The advanced features on some controller boards is easy to get used to and rely on them they will be missed if you go to CDJs and don't have them. Great video! Thx!!
Used to turntables and moving platters. Keep thinking I want cdj’s to learn how to work on that setup (also multichannel would be nice w link). Interesting to learn about job wheels on CDJ’s being based off tables. Very happy to hear that one!
The jog wheel tip is definitely something most people won't pickup. I can imagine trying to jog a track slowly and it not moving, not good if you need the next track in time ASAP! Thanks for the content!
My favorite tip was when you said not to get too attached to the features you have in your controllers as they are not always available on CDJ's. I got a lil scared about the first one tho, just gonna have to practice harder I guess. Great video guys!
Crossfader! Long time listener first time caller. My favorite tip was the streaming integration. I have been deeply considering joining one of the streaming sites but after hearing this video I'm going to stick to regular downloading. Have been eyeing down your music management course and hope to win the entire package. Blessings to you and the Crossfader fam! Thanks for all you do.
My favorite tip is understanding performance features. I have only been mixing on DDJ-SX (3) models for 11 years. Played on CDJ's last week and all my heavy effects on DnB was lost during the live set as I was getting used to the CDJ performance features. A lot to learn still!
That FX Channel BPM control tip was my favourite, super helpful to know what happens to the effect when its out of beat and also how to adjust it down to the decimal! Thank you!!
Favorite tip ? The last one: I had no clue some features found on some popular controllers were not available on CDJs. Very good to know when preparing a set!
my favorite tip was the last one. As a beginner DJ on an flx4 with dreams of playing on CDJ's its super helpful what features they do and don't have :)
Love the point of being limited in your set but still remaining creative on CDJs. Restrictions aren't necessarily a bad thing! Always love these Crossfader tutorials ✊🏽
Great video! My personal favourite tip was the Jog adjust. Seen so many people jump from controller to CDJs and then wonder why they can’t beat match properly 😂
Probably my favorite tip was 5: Performance Features. It's good to know that such a... vital(?) aspect is different and that the controller's help ease you in but they also prop you up a bit. Great stuff and thanks for the info!
Favourite tip: jog wheel adjusting. i use a Ddj flx4 and had no clue about how different it was to spin the jog wheel on the CDJs so this was very helpful for me 😁
Great tip about the beat effects, tap, timing, auto etc in the FX Channel Set-Up section! Those are features where the reason why something is blinking or flashing on a CDJ may not be abundantly clear. Explaining not only how this works, but also, how to fix and adjust effects manually based on BPMs would have been so tedious to determine on my own!
def the performance features. So I recently started learning how to dj and bought my first controller and I was so interested in all the features that this one haves, but eventually I got invited to one of my friends birthday party and she had all this cdj set up and I was blow minded because it was totally different of what my controller is. I kinda investigated the whole set up and it was difficult to understand but fun to explore. After the party i got home and I tried to do research on the differences between the controller and de cdjs but i was not able to find something that cleared my questions. So thank you for this video, it was very helpful and clear.
Favourite tip: minimising reliance on performance features. I own a DDJ Flx 4 and use these quite heavily in my sets. Good to know that I should be practical about how I employ them!
OMG! The last tip was my favorite (the warning about depending on the special features on a FLX 10 before spinning on CDJs); I only wish I could have seen it before an outdoor event I did last month. It was a House Music festival, and I had practiced and planned a mix on my FLX 10 at home (with a lot of STEMS in my set). However, when I got to the event to spin my hour long set, I was staring at a pair of CDJs. Luckily, I had my set on a USB thumb drive but of course, I couldn't play the set I had in mind cause... no STEMS. A valuable lesson I won't soon forget.
Im a dj looking to get myself a set of cdjs, I was surprised by and thankful you gave an explanation of the jog wheel adjust differences. The comparison to the turntables I feel will help me visualise the movement when I do transition, thanks for the video
My favorite team was on streaming integration. Might sound a little old school but the best library is your library, and that’s part of what makes a dj special. Having your own selection of tunes to get the crowd going without having to rely on a stream service for help.
Tip 2 Jog adjust! Thanks for this explanation as nailing the beat match is the key foundation in DJing. I'm playing for the first time this Sunday 18th in the YourShot competition as a complete beginner. Being in beat and a smooth transition is my main focus to really try nail, have tight and sound good.
All of them were unique and informative, especially the last one regarding performance features. For beginner DJ's, like myself, the switch can be daunting and all the buttons are different, so any name similarities will stand out, and I am going to rely on this one for open decks...All about the practice! Thanks so much CrossFader peeps!
The final tip is my favorite. As a newcomer to DJing, I've opted for the FLX-4 controller. Honestly, I believe this advice puts me on the right path to begin.
The jog wheel tips were incredibly helpful, especially since there are so many different ways to feel the difference depending on the device you're using. This is particularly true if you've used other units like the Prime4 or Pioneer FLX4. These tips really made it easier to understand how to adjust and fine-tune the jog wheel sensitivity on different equipment!
My Fav Tip was definitely the FX Channel one, 'cause I wasn't aware of this and it helped me a lot to see, how it is on CDJs, compared to Controllers 🙏🏻💪🏻
Definitely the tip about not forming a dependence on isolated features of your current mixer setup vs cdjs was my favorite. It is a piece of advice I wish I had been given coming from a ddj1000 and playing on cdjs, not being able to use use certain key features and having interchangeable que button features was a very big shock, and Definitely taught me alot about feature dependence vs refining live mixing skills.
Definitely jog adjust. puts into context and provides explanation as well! Cool to think back to the roots of DJing- nice when things like that crop up.
favorite tip was definately the one about the jog adjust, I had no clue until now there was a diffrence but I always felt something was off. This whole video just reminded me ive got a lot to learn!
Great video with a good amount of information. My favorite part of the video was the link cable functionalities and the tip on not to rely on the stacked wave forms. It really is a whole different way to DJ without all the effects and the visual cues of the stacked waveform.
Hi Jamie, my favourite tip was to stick around until the end to see what a fantastic prize give away you're offering! As always, very informative and inspirational video content.
The Tip that stands out for me is the Efx Channel Difference on a Mixer ,compared to a Controller which I been using.Great to have learnt it through your video.Much love and respect from South Africa
My favorite tip was the last one, regarding features. I have been thinking about the FLX10 for its STEM features, but also was worried that they might not transfer over to club setups. This video answered that question! Thanks!
Thanks so much for the great tips. My favourite was about not becoming dependent on the performance features on DDJs. I also loved the tip about keeping music on USBs as access to streaming services on CDJs is still limited. I have an FLX4 and am taking your FLX4 course. My goal is to be able to transition to CDJs so I will definitely be keeping these and all your other valuable tips in mind! 😊🙌
Performance features was my fav part of the vid. Its great to know that I can rely on my basic FX skills when upgrading to CDJs as I dont rely on the more modern tricks in my set.
Favorite Tip - Jog wheel adjust, I upgrade from the xdjrx to the flx10 and never realized moving them in the speed of the track didnt actually adjust the track, thankfully ive been practicing the jog wheel flick from the start.
My favorite tip was not to rely on performance effects. I use a DDJ 1000 and have tons of features that I do not use. I think it makes sense to stick with the basics to ease the transition into CDJs. Thanks!
Favorite tip was the difference between controller streaming compatibility vs having to rely directly on usb tracks. I learned my lesson at my last gig when the venue lost wifi for the rest of the night.
My favourite tip is the performance features and knowing what is an isn't available when walking into a club and how I will need to adjust my set. Would love to know more!
Favourite Tip: Beat FX section! I could see myself getting caught out at the worst possible time and embarrassing myself if I were to assume there was no difference between this on my controller and CDJs. Great video btw & love all you do at Crossfader 🔥 Thanks!
My favourite tip is the usb backup incase there isn't any link. Seems obvious but I wonder how many djs have fell foul of this. Keep up the great content
Fx channel setup is my fav part. Really every tip is useful for me but i like the fx setup for clarity. Thanks for helping me make sense of this transition.
for me personally, the "jog adjust" tip was the best. i was really confused at my first gig with cdj, when i turned the jogwheels but nothing happened 😄
My favorite tip was the FX. I didn't know about adjusting the Bpm with the time/tap. Also being able to adjust the decimal point. Learn something new everday
the fx channel setup is my favorite tip. i was just watching a dj last night in the club and i was watching every move in purpose of maybe learning something new. i found out he was tapping the green tap button but i couldnt figure out why. less than 24 hours later i have my specific answer
Thank you🙏. I think all of the tips were great. But the last tip about not relying on “special features” was the best in my opinion - it also goes to show how creative pros are. However - the tip about adjusting using the jog wheels were also great 🙏🙌 Keep up the good

My favorite tip involved you pointing out the missing features on a CDJ as compared to a DJ controller
My favourite tip was: Streaming Integration because I was always a little confused about that, but this defo cleared it up!
My favorite tip is understanding performance features. I have only been mixing on DDJ-SX (3) models for 11 years. Played on CDJ's last week and all my heavy effects on DnB was lost during the live set as I was getting used to the CDJ performance features. A lot to learn still!

Hi, My favorite tip is the streaming service issues you might come accros when playing a set on th CDJ's. Very clear tutorial. Thanks!
Definitely jog adjust. puts into context and provides explanation as well! Cool to think back to the roots of DJing- nice when things like that crop up.
The tips to manually adjust FX channel BPM with tap + time buttons prooved to be so useful already thank you so much !
favorite tip was definately the one about the jog adjust, I had no clue until now there was a diffrence but I always felt something was off. This whole video just reminded me ive got a lot to learn!
Great video with a good amount of information. My favorite part of the video was the link cable functionalities and the tip on not to rely on the stacked wave forms. It really is a whole different way to DJ without all the effects and the visual cues of the stacked waveform.
Jog adjust difference between controller and cdj was my top take away. All good tips, thanks
My fav was the beat matching in the jog wheel the difference between a controller and CDJs. Explains A LOT !
Favorite tip is definitely the last one! Not relying on on options you have on controllers that won’t be available on the cdj
Hi Jamie, my favourite tip was to stick around until the end to see what a fantastic prize give away you're offering! As always, very informative and inspirational video content.
fave tip - the jog adjust - never realised there was a correlation between the theoretical platter movement speed and the adjust!
Thanks!
Favorite tip was the FX Setup. I've got a couple of potential gigs lined up after a month and I can't wait to get on a pro set up. Thanks for the vid.
Not relying on the performance features was definitely the best tip especially for a beginner DJ!
Performance features was my fav part of the vid. Its great to know that I can rely on my basic FX skills when upgrading to CDJs as I dont rely on the more modern tricks in my set.
My favorite tip was also the jog adjust. I didn't know the background, but it totally makes sense!
Definitely did not think about the performance pads being missing on CDJ's so glad to hear about that one!
Favorite Tip - Jog wheel adjust, I upgrade from the xdjrx to the flx10 and never realized moving them in the speed of the track didnt actually adjust the track, thankfully ive been practicing the jog wheel flick from the start.
El ajuste del Jog es algo que no descubres hasta estar en un club! Thanks for the video
I didn't know about the lack of performance features on the CDJs, that was my favourite tip
My favorite tip was not to rely on performance effects. I use a DDJ 1000 and have tons of features that I do not use. I think it makes sense to stick with the basics to ease the transition into CDJs. Thanks!
Favourite tip was the FX measures. Had no idea that Decks were a lot more manual controlled. Thanks once again
Jog adjust is the favourite tip for me. I was thinking to get a CDJ so all the tips were very helpful for me
Favorite tip was the difference between controller streaming compatibility vs having to rely directly on usb tracks. I learned my lesson at my last gig when the venue lost wifi for the rest of the night.
My favourite tip is the performance features and knowing what is an isn't available when walking into a club and how I will need to adjust my set. Would love to know more!
Favourite was the Fx Channel Setup! Eye opener and nobody else talks about this. Could really ruin your night!
My favourite tip was not relying on extra features on a controller! Thanks for the vid
the fx channel setup is my favorite tip. i was just watching a dj last night in the club and i was watching every move in purpose of maybe learning something new. i found out he was tapping the green tap button but i couldnt figure out why. less than 24 hours later i have my specific answer
Thank you🙏.
I think all of the tips were great. But the last tip about not relying on “special features” was the best in my opinion - it also goes to show how creative pros are. However - the tip about adjusting using the jog wheels were also great 🙏🙌
Keep up the good
My favourite tip? All of them, this knowledge doesn't come better presented anywhere else! Thank you Crossfader!
FX setup was my fav and will really help as i have my first club gig in the next couple months
