  • In this Video, We have a Samsung Dryer, Model #DV42H5200EP/A3, in Which Was Flashing an "HE" Error Code. According to the Manufacturer, "HE" Error Code Indicates that the Dryer is Overheating. Possible Causes Could Be a Clogged Dryer Vent or Lint Trap, a Broken Heating Element, or a Broken Thermistor. However, After Testing All of the Components, We Found that It was the Main Control Board that was Bad and Needed to Be Replaced. We also Replaced the Thermistor, as an Extra Precaution. If you are seeing this HE code on DV42H5200EO/A3 - definitely try replacing thermistor first (part DC32-00007A) - it's only 10$ from amazon and it's what measures temperature. It worked for me!
Also - something most tutorial dont's show you - you don't need to do this full disassembly to replace thermistor - just unscrew the screw holding the exhaust pipi on the bottom, pull it out - stick your hand into the remaining hole and you can probably reach that thermistor and replace it. Some equilibristics required - but I was able to do it that way in 10 minutes.
Thank you for this tutorial! I wa able to fix my dryer thanks to it!

I am glad my video was able to help you and you’re totally right some tutorials doesn’t show the Shortcuts. However, I understand why sometimes I see technicians we have to do it the way the manufacturing is telling us to do it, because sometimes those Shortcuts can result in danger. Some of those shortcuts require removing screws without looking just by a sensitive touch of your fingers, but trust me not a lot of people have that knowledge about sensitive touch and remove parts without looking or sometimes those people doesn’t have the right tools to do it that way in my videos I do the repairs both ways and warn people about the risk so people choose how to do it. In this scenario, I decided to do it this way, because I also wanna show the homeowner the bad job that the dryer vent people dead.

First thing---- make sure it's unplugged. but yeah I have done it that way. However, samsung dryers are easiest dryers to disassemble only need a #2 Phillips screwdriver. With HE code the first thing I check for is proper ventilation build up lint is very common

You called the dryer a washer twice and called the Hi limit thermal fuse a thermostat! You should have ohmed out the thermistor and if it failed just replace it. I doubt the control board was bad.

Do you suggest taking out the high limit and thermostate isolating them when testing? Or is it ok to test while in the housing? Also if replacing the heating element, would it be a good idea to replace the high limit and thermostat as well?

Terrible how to video. For a HE code the cycling thermostat should be tested with thermometer and heat gun remove before testing. The parts you replaced you didn't test. You didn't need to disassemble dryer, only needed to remove the lid. Amps tests inward side of terminal block red wire then black wire while listening for board relays to click (cycle) on heat should be about 28 amps. The board and thermistor should be tested at board and thermistor should be about 10K. Funny how you tested all these unrelated components claiming to satisfy the CX. Pro tip test the parts you suspect are bad before replacing.....

Hi enjoyed your video. I have same model dryer that intermittently trips Circuit Breaker after 10 min. of use. Shotgun CB not CB. I think the L2 (facing toward 240 plug connection block it’s the outside hot connector. Any suggestions on troubleshooting? Tech troubleshooting guide references belt tension check, motor winding cont., motor protector, then then PCB sequence out of order. Any tips or tricks to share? Thanks

Great video!!! But that thing is trash, who would want such an expensive piece of junk. I've had my oldschool dryer for about 20 years now and have replaced a thermal fuse, and a heating element. And she's still ticking, knock on wood... And as a matter of fact I changed those parts like 18 years in.
