    Fantastic job!! Just got done with mine a half hour ago. Pro tip for anyone doing this, my issue was the heat coil busted. So when swapping it out the replacement may make you think it won’t fit and is too small but you would be wrong. It fits just fine, you have to squeeze the metal housing. That threw me for a loop.

    Excellent explanation! I followed your instructions and was able to remove the part... I even accidentally cut myself a little😅. I had to use another video near the end because I was replacing the entire heating assembly but this is exactly what I needed to get me near the finish line. THANK YOU!!! My model is a bit newer and the pedestal had screws in the back. It was easy to keep those in and push down/ flatten the pedestal enough to pull out the part, then push it back up when I was ready.

      I will enlighten you of the reason..... this guy does not use an ohm meter to test the heating element continuity or how to test the thermistor for proper functioning and diagnosis.....this gentlemen is an improvised handi man who goes around replacing parts guessing at what could be the problem....that's why....at best, he shows how to take the machine apart to reach the problem area.

      H Max, I appreciate that his vid was this way bc if he had had some fancy ohm reading gadget, I would have thought it was past my skill set and not even attempted a self repair! I’m trying to fix the dryer myself rather than paying hundreds for someone else to do it. I love that he said “look and see if the coil is broken” and that that would be a good indicator of a heating element issue. If not, probably the thermostat. Very very very helpful video! Doesn’t need all the other bells and whistles you’re saying it’s missing.

  • @tomlilly6063
    @tomlilly6063 Год назад

    This was very helpful. The “L” bracket holding the front of the coil had two machine screws attached to the back of the base, so no “wiggling” was ever going to release it. But you can feel around with your finger and get a small Phillips screwdriver in them and get them unscrewed. Also, the thermostat and coil wiring were not the “plug” type,so I took a photo of the wiring on the thermostats. But thank you… I saved a lot of money fixing my dryer.

    This was exactly what I needed! Our dryer slowly stopped heating up and finally stopped completely this week. Managed to take apart the dryer as per the video. New heating element and thermostats installed and it’s working perfectly now!

    I’m subscribing to your channel Felix! Love it. The thing you call a thermostat is a high limit switch in the heating and ac world. The “NC” on the label of the limit switch means normally closed. When the heating element reaches an unsafe temperature the limit switch will open the electrical circuit cutting power to the heat element. If your limit switch is a NC (normally closed) you can test it by checking for continuity with your multimeter across the leads. Same thing goes for your heating element. If you don’t get any resistance reading (OL on your meter) you have a broken element.
    It’s all about sharing the information. Thank you for taking the time to post this video brother.

    • @RootsWings247

      I know your comment was almost a year ago, but if you check in…I replaced coil and thermostat and still don’t have any heat, so my question is (someone who is completely unknowledgeable on this stuff) I noticed the wires were different colors, would it matter which port I connected a wire to similar to car battery? Cause I didn’t notice any type of +/- symbol or indication that they had to go a certain way. Thanks
      *Felix not sure if you can see or read this, if so, would know happen to know incase this guy hasn’t signed on in over a year?

    For a nearly 100% fix it the first time.. just replace that whole heating element assembly (that sheet metal "tube" the heating element was in) not each part, trying to figure out which one. That assembly, or tube includes the thermostat, thermomister, heating element, and I think.. the thermal fuse - and all this is roughly only like $10 more than buying one part at a time. Great freaking video explanation though Felix! You nailed it.

  • @DaveHWasHere
    @DaveHWasHere Месяц назад

    IMPORTANT NOTE: First, great video! Second, which one is bad? Both of those parts can be checked with a meter. If your meter has a continuity check, just disconnect the wires from the side of the heater box. Then check continuity across each part. If any of the 3 parts does not have continuity from the two sides of it, it is bad. In my dryer, the heating element had no continuity, so obviously bad. After you find a bad one, check the other 2 parts as well (just to order them at the same time if they are bad).
    If your meter doesn't have a continuity test, just test for ohms to see if they are connected internally or not. If not, they are bad.
    If you want to cheat, you can lay down the dryer on the front and pull out the exhaust tube that is in the dryer (one screw). You can reach in and pull the wires and check if you have continuity through the part. But you cannot replace the heating element this way, that has to be through the front.
    And as I said, great video explanation of how to do it. Oh, and you may have screws holding the back of the bracket under the heating element (mine does).

    Thank you to Fix it Felix for this video! I ordered the kit referenced in the description and fixed my dryer last weekend. In my case the heating element coil had broken as referenced in the video. I went ahead and replaced the thermostat as well. One procedural note: My dryer had 2 difficult to reach screws on the back side of the base of the metal stand that supports the heating coil fixture. This is not shown in the video. (Perhaps a slight variation in models?)
    Took me 30 minutes to get those screws out. I had to lift up on the metal coil container (basically pushing it to touch the bottom of the drum and rotating it to the left) in order to get a thicker screwdriver for better torque grip. I recommend using the socket wrench he shows in the video.

    A suggestion on determining if it is a heating element or the thermostats. If you check continuity with an ohm meter and get a good signal, it is most likely the thermostats. Some may choose to replace both since your in there any way.

    Watched it and you did it quickly. You even made it look easy. I've got to do it tomorrow -- just got parts from Amazon. Subbed.

    Note: My dryer was a newer or order version of the same model. I had 2 screws in the back, not the feet of the little stand that hold it up. After wiggling for a while I felt around and found the two screws. I was able to get them, even with my arthritis, by coming in with a stubby Philips from the right hand side. Maybe make this a top comment so that other people see it.

    I suggest buying a multimeter and checking all pieces for conductivity (thermostat, fuse, coil, etc.). I first replaced the thermostat based on this video without testing anything and that didn't fix it. Was going to buy the coil next but decided to purchase a multimeter to test. Sure enough the coil was fine (original thermostat was too) but the fuse was bad. Purchased the fuse and my dryer is back heating!

    Thank you Felix. I have a different model but the process was basically the same, my only 2 cents is when your taking the heater stand out to try and use to hands and lift back and up and maybe when your pulling the heater coils out that you may need to unscrew the ground.to get it out.

    Just follow the steps great video. Took a while but got it done. I would suggest some skin tight gloves because some metal parts are a bit sharp I did cut my thumb a bit. No big deal.

    This video helped me to fix it 3 months ago. I watched other videos, and they take everything down which makes it harder.
    Question: after 3 months, it is broken again. What would cause it to break it again?
