As a history major, watching people on all sides, but particularly the president, mangle history for their own ends makes me question getting up in the morning.

As a person growing up in wealth, there is no reason why he shouldn't know about Grant. I live in Mississippi and Mississippi is on the bottom of the list for many things but at least they taught us about Lincoln, Grant and the Civil War in school. 🤦
He is gonna eventually find out Grant was also a President and let his base know, because most of them are uneducated and gullible.

Well, both belong to the Republican Party. Unfortunately, the GOP as it is today is fucked-up beyond Abe’s recognition, infiltrated by corporate shills, old-money hacks, and angry white baby boomers from the deepest parts of the Deep South who may have fled the Democratic Party in disgust after Lyndon Johnson sided with the Civil Rights Movement, lured in by the cynicism of a certain Barry Goldwater that the best way for the GOP to finally win in the historically-Democrat South is to pander to its deepest, darkest instincts.
Did you people know that Trump has achieved much more in 2 years than Obama in 8 and pretty much almost every other president in the US history?

If by “achievements” you mean Trump making America a global laughingstock, empowering the darkest instincts of his voting base (e.g. racism, xenophobia, ultranationalism, etc.), causing the longest government shutdown to date, estranging America from its traditional allies while cozying up to adversarial strongmen (especially Russia-it seems he sold out America to Putin simply because he wanted a Trump Tower in Moscow), and others that have escaped my memory (and I am speaking as a non-American), sure I can believe that.

Trump speaking about history is like a middle school student doing a presentation on a specific historic event, there's bound to be errors and it might get a B grade...for middle school that is. Most common error would be going off topic constantly.
1:00 I knew Lincoln was a republican, but I also know that the parties switched over time, so he would've been a democrat in this day and age.
The Republican party can't claim Lincoln. It was a different party during that period and American had different issues. However people don't know their history so they are easily misled.
