- UPDATED VIDEO: • How to Shoot Fast like...
How Lars shoots arrows fast:
1. Make ultra wide nocks & light draw weights.
2. Use Slavic draw and put arrow on opposite side of med draw
3. Reverse cant the bow and don't try this on heavy bows
It´s actually very easy to shoot as fast as Lars Andersen
DISCLAIMER: I explain Lars Andersen's archery, I am not Lars Andersen.
There is no single " The Lars Method", or set in stone tutorial on his technique because he shoots many ways depending on the situation, and his archery has many variations. - Развлечения
haha good times, 2015 i looked so young

agreed
Stop watching your self nock
@@jareth7456 i dont anymore
People hate on Lars or others like you because its not done perfectly, but I think if he trained someone from a young age, they could do far better. In ten years we're gonna see faster people with heavier bows doing parkour or some crazy stuff, he has paved the way.
Ric Rac thanks man. Im an engineering student. I do math mostly...
amen to that
the one lars does and the bow channel are legit archery not these modern archery things. A modern archer vs a moving target with armor and shield. Dead (you are dead). Lars and this awesome asian guyvs a moving target with armor and shield. BAM (they the target is dead)
WolfRushers btw the asian guy your refering to is jack
WolfRushers
As Mr. Lee would say, these guys are like a finger pointing away to the moon; do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory. Or don't lose the forest for the trees.
Insanely skilled. I don't know if I could learn that style, I shoot recurve, my boy's getting one for his 14th birthday and I'm going to teach him there are no limits.
That's easily one of the coolest hobbies ever. :D Keep it up!
Babbelo Ergosum thank you!
Great Vids, i'm enjoying.
Gonna get a recurve to try this stuff out
Will give it a go on my compound in mean time
What in the unholy nock is that E shaped bow you show second?
Watching you makes me Crave Mongolian BBQ, LOL!
at 1:05 he accidentally killed his cat with that shot
Great beginners video. I love that bow! Where would get one like that????
awesome archery
Nice video man at least you are trying this out lol I am thinking of picking up a bow and trying this now, seems like a fun hobby :).
thanks man more videos comming
Wowww, you are truly impressive bro.i ve neer seen any archer extraordinary like you before
thx
rockin the hat. great presentation!
Would you say modified nocks makes learning archery easier?
very good speech and shot
is there bow and arrow in Australia??
where did you get the bow you use in this lesson? i am on the waiting list for a ming moon 4 from cinnabar bow

Remember do not looking at the bow
You need 2 hats like that 1 to shit in the other 1 to cover it up with.
Great video.
nice job
Where do I buy the Bow and Arrows that Lars Andersen or any of his followers use? I want to start training for it. Hope anyone who knows would reply...Thank you!
The end of his latest video lists the used equipment.
The bows is custom made by an Estonian business Falco, and the arrows are home made, most likely to suit his individual needs.
You can get a good bow cheap, wich he also uses. It's called a "Ready for battle bow" It's cheap and relieable. Trust me, I'm Danish.
***** why trust you because you are Danish? Can I too give out archery advice, because I'm Danish?
Just use a reg bow
Korean kaya bow 3 rivers archery its fiberglass i have one
Please show a close up view of what you are doing with the arrows in your hand and how you are manipulating them to the string.
I'm trying to learn this technique.
Second:are you thumb drawing,or Mediterranean style?
its slavic draw. i made other videos that show you in detail but i appologize they are old
ruclips.net/video/pFkjVA7BIcM/видео.html
So badass
But you have light short arrows with a short bow to do this?
Can you talk more about the kinds of bows you're using? And how they're made?
Yes I will, that will be future videos
I make the bows, they are hungarian designs that I tried to copy
Can you do that with thumb draw technique? I think that's how Lars doing it but its so fast i can't see a thing
I think Lars is doing thumb draw too.
what bow are you using?
When Lars is shooting his fastest I think he is thumb drawing. And it does not look like he uses a thumb ring. thebloodedbroadaxe Am I correct?
With the thumb draw you should be able to use the side of your index finger to lock your arrow to the bow securely. So you can fire from any position and not have to rely on gravity to keep the arrow on the bow. Then with the arrow in between your fingers you knock it, lock it, draw, and fire without having to shuffle your arrows between your fingers and your loading position.
uuuh, he is not using any forms of rings no, my shooting style is different from his, and i have never studied it too closely so i can't tell you if he is thump drawing :P
very very very interesting!
thanks you please support my channel
Cool bow
Oh! And your hat rocks.
I like this kid & also his cool hat.
thanks lol
It's sooooo cool
fish tail nocks, maybe adds aerodynamics?
Shooting fast is all good but shooting slowly and actually hitting the target is far more efficient. He seems to be watching how he nocks the arrow rather than aiming at t he target.
Speed Archery Channel,
Thanks for the video. It's helpful.
One thing I think differently is that when Lars put arrows between 4 fingers, he is doing thumb draw.
He has his right hand in a fist shape. His knuckles line is in right angle with bow string.
The way you are showing wouldn't have that hand angle with string.
Since Lars quoted that book: www.archerylibrary.com/books/faris-elmer/arab-archery/docs/xliv.html
It seems that the book was talking about thumb draw for the shower of arrows stunt.
What's your thoughts?
Thanks, like your video.
he uses a variation of techniques
where do you get these bows i wanna buy one
Supplementation for Cocentration i make them myself:p
Do you know if Lars uses a thumb ring?
+actionchris540 he doesnt
the thumb ring is designed for heavy draw weights
he shoots light draw weights
+That Archery Channel Not true. Thumb ring can be and is used with any draw weight.
COOL
How strong bow is recomended for this? :)
the lighter the better
because the less chance to hurt yourself or your basement
like 5 pounds
The Bow Channel and what about, when you are skilled as much as Lars Andersen? How strong bow does he use?
Just curious, but how did you yourself learn how to shoot with Lars's technique?
Reverse engineer
The Bow Channel From watching his videos you mean? Also, how do the inch wide nocks affect the flight of the arrows? Can such arrows fly over distance at all?
That Language Channel What is the "chanese of try fire?"
dry fire is shooting without an arrow. arrows with wide gap can fall off easily
@@HistoricalWeapons care to explain the technique?
where do you buy your bows?
make them
do you understand that a hat is shaped the way it is so that you can wear it entirely on your head, not just the back of it
"I AM the one who nocks!"
how do you load up your first arrow really fast instead of modern day archery. I want to learn like the ones back then. Speed shooting. 1 by 1 practise first. Kind of like legolas.! PLEASE I REALLY NEED YOU'RE HELOP ITS FUSTRATTING.
He loads it on the right side instead of the left I hope that helps I want to do this as well. But these are master techniques.
watch some of his tutorials man and ull get it

wow u looked so young bro
Let's see that with you facing the camera in the other direction with can on hand.
You should keep your eyes on the target, not on the Knocks.
lars is a historical archer, not a modern archer
Oliver is you?!
no ankun
haters on here talking mad shit about Lars. "hes doing trick shots" well can you outdo him? if not then shhh.... if you cant beat the master just sit and be quiet.
just gonna give you a few heads ups :P lars aint using modified nocks also he does not switch out the arrows like you do on the second bundles, it's extra movements = too slow, other than that, pretty decent speed, but you might wanna learn to do it without having to look at your bow while putting on the arrows, cause you don't have time to look away from whoever is shooting you, or your target if it's moving :P
thanks man. He actually used modified nocks in one of his videos. where he duck tapes nocks that are 1 inch wide. Ill show you a picture for my next tutorial. Regarding with switching I agree but its much more difficult without modified nocks
The Bow Channel
at least he ussualy doesn't :3 im the guy shooting the arrows at the end of his vid and personal friend ;) was going here to see if it was another idiot talking about stuff he doesn't know but you seem to have a decent idea on how to shoot a bow ^^
To either of you, Seeing lars shoot really opened my eyes as a martial artist, I want to try to master as many forms of combat I can. What is a good bow brand to look into and good arrows (that hopefully arent going to break the bank).
uuh fuck, give me a day or 2 and i'll ask lars where he got his current favorite, don't quite remember :P
Thanks!! Just keep it as inexpensive as possible, I have too many interestes and not enough money lol, I was looking on ebay and everything was made in china
What Lars is doing is trick shooting, he is very good at it, but it is not a deadly technique. With a bow as light as Lars uses you would be hurt, but no killed. it takes considerable force to punch through someones chest for a fatal shot. a 45 pound bow will punch through light leather (imitating skin) and a few inches of meat, a 30 pound bow however will go an inch maybe 2 though said target. again Lars is a fantastic archer, within the realm of trick shooting. for lethal purposes however the technique doesn't have the force behind it to kill someone with every shot, which if it takes twice the arrows to kill you aren't doing your job to its potential.
+Grégory Makles I stated that you would be wounded, you however would not die from an arrow loosed with so little power behind it.
+Grégory Makles he pieced non-riveted chainmail, without gambis, also he used small arrow heads that have no stopping power. its not about firerate, its about making sure each shot counts
+Grégory Makles arrows cost a lot of money. especially if your enemy can shoot them back
+That Archery Channel he is very talented in what he does, but what he does is not lethal, it just looks really cool.
+Shawn Griffith i stand on ur side
不交河南话该教射箭啦 XD
Its a shame that this video comes up when you search for 'Lars Andersen technique'. He should post a video of his own explaining it, or sell a lesson DVD for that matter.
Do you think he's really using that weird draw you invented, or using a thumb-draw like the mongols and saracens always used?
+Richard Jackson Lars Andersen never wanted to reveal his "secret" technique. I flew to Denmark to interview him but he denied saying he wants to keep his business secret.
Such a baby face, now you all swole! I can pull heavy but speed to me is almost cardio and my bow is 30, but really 20ish from 3/4 draw. I still can't believe this is your adolescent baby version of you.
He looks like freddie
what a cute boy before

I am the 1000th like
Look again at your own video. You are looking at each load of your arrow. It is like hunter turning his eyes from game to bullet reload. No one looks at reload. So if you work and practice on blind reload you will be next Lars without creating silly new arrows. You made me laugh with your new idea how he created new arrows.I am not so fast as Lars but never look how I reload. I just do it with out even care about gap in gag of arrow. When I was kid we actually had flat back of arrows and only when I grow up I find world uses different back end of arrows.Good luck with blind loading.
This is well explained but what so loud?, and am I the only one who thinks he's soooo cute?
you should look at him now, he is a beast
this guy is trying to run before he can even walk
nah. just procrastinating from school
Its so annoying that you only do q half draw
in the first 2 seconds I am doing a full draw with a 55 pound
unfortunately full draws are not meant for speed archery
I used a 55 pound bow at 29 inches for speed shooting 3 arrows.
I used a 10 pound bow to speed shoot 9 arrows.
He looks like chonny.
your nothing like Lars he does it on the move and on moving targets your shooting at the floor
I understand. I didn't say I am. A tutorial for the basics of his archery technique.
Wtf!
E
?
Speed Archery would be a much more exciting Olympic event than traditional archery which is boring to watch. I can't wait for them to have schools and ranges for it.
Aww, he's wearing the there's-got-to-be-something-wrong-with-that-guy hat.
Did you really go out of your way to make fun of someone else's personal style? I hope you feel better about yourself.
Hold on a second - am I seriously the first person to notice that Lars (and other people emulating him) are NOT using a thumb draw? He's not using a Med draw either. He's using a PINCH draw. It's the absolute weakest and least biomechanically efficient way to pull the bow back. But it's the fastest way to nock an arrow because it combines the nocking motion and drawing motion into one. However, it just reinforces all the criticism that this is in fact NOT historically accurate, nor meant for warfare in any way. You can't pull a bow back with the pinch grip once the draw weight reaches a certain point. That's physics. It's unavoidable. There's no amount of training that will give you fingers powerful enough to pull back a warbow with a pinch grip. There's a good reason people use the Med draw. It's best compromise of accuracy and power out of all the methods. And as you can see from Lajos Kassai, you can still do it plenty fast :)
i imagine real history would have had a wide variety of people doing a wide variety of things, especially when it came to people shooting arrows for a living or to stay alive, some people would have done only exactly the methods they were taught and reinforce that explicitly, others would break what they are taught down further and practice everything about it they could learn as there are advantages and disadvantages for every technique, the key to surviving is reading your environment and situation for best fits this situation, sometimes the disadvantages to a pinch grip would have been in your favour or cancelled out by the situation and the same would be true for every other grip, true historical warriors, that at least mastered the skill, probably practiced everything they knew.
the same is true for any skill and talent, masters of card tricks practice every kind of shuffle they know, masters with a sword practiced with both hands, there's a famous samurai who wrote the five rings that usually fought with two swords, one long and one short but he practiced with two long blades.
vetzal "there are advantages and disadvantages for every technique". And the disadvantage to the pinch grip is that it's weak. That's a BIG disadvantage, so much so that it's likely no one ever used it in a combat situation. Maybe for rabbit hunting, but not a warbow. Sorry, that's just biology and physics.
and you clearly missed my point, if he's predominantly using the pinch grip it's likely due to the performance purpose of this video, explaining the pros and cons of various grips was not the purpose of lar's video.
exactly as you stated, there are cases where the loss of power doesn't matter, it's still going to puncture it's target and speed is more vital or somebody is showing off how fast they can shoot a bow, extremely god damned fast.
vetzal Lars expressly states that what he is doing is "combat" archery, and does not admit that what he is doing is speed for speed alone. He gets so much flak because he misrepresents what he does. It's still awesome, don't get me wrong, but it's not what he and millions of admirers seem to think it is.
His chainmail test was laughable because his arrows did not actually penetrate very far, nowhere enough to significantly wound the person underneath. Chainmail was only one component of a hybrid armor system. The gambeson underneath stopped the arrows, and the quality of his chainmail is questionable. I’ve done my own tests with alternating riveted & solid ring mail (8mm ID) with padding underneath, high powered bows, and ballistics gel, and the armor is really effective stuff. (Actually in the process of making a formal video on this.)
There are also many historical examples of mail and textile armors’ effectiveness in real life (both as a combination and as textile alone), including in the cultures that he loosely derives his techniques from:
"…every foot-soldier wore a vest of thick felt and a coat of mail so dense and strong that our arrows made no impression on them... I saw some with from one to ten arrows sticking in them, and still advancing at their ordinary pace without leaving the ranks.”-Bahā’ ad-Dīn Yusuf ibn Rafi ibn Shaddād, describing the Battle of Jaffa (1192)
“the Turks were fleeing before him, they (who shoot as well backwards as forwards) would cover him with arrows. When he had driven them out of the village, he would pick out the arrows that were sticking all over him; and put on his coat-of-arms again…he would charge them again, sword in hand, and drive them out.”-The Memoirs of the Lord of Joinville, circa 1305
“By good luck, I found a Saracen's oakum tunic; and I turned the split side towards me, and made a shield of the tunic, which served me in good stead, for their fire-darts only wounded me in five places and my pony in fifteen.”-The Memoirs of the Lord of Joinville, circa 1305
“The enemy climbed after, in order to capture him, and the more distant rabble shot arrows at him. But by the will of God his armour protected him from the arrows.” -Odo of Deuil, writing during the Second Crusade, 12th century A.D.
Other commentators (including professional military historians such as Mike Loades) have called Lars out on this very directly, pointing out that if a 30 pound bow can penetrate chainmail, there is something very wrong with the mail.
wow
You're actually doing it the wrong side of the bow and you are holding the arrows wrong. :L
you still aim with the back side of your hand.
***** ur talking about aim.
im talking about shoot.
too different things, its like pasta and cans
"It´s actually very easy to shoot as fast as Lars Andersen"
Great why don't you upload a video of you shooting 3 arrows in less than 1.5 seconds with a 100 percent accuracy rating against targets more then 10 feet away... if its so easy?
I agree. however you do need to notice I specifically said as Fast. accuracy just takes practice. I have a life
