- On August 17, 1994 the Four Freshmen played a private party in New Canaan CT. CBS News Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood was there and filmed this segment. The Four Freshmen (then) were Greg Stegeman, Mike Beisner, Kevin Stout and Bob Ferreira (FF Group #18).
I was in high school in Southeast Missouri in the late 50's, and my older sister was in college when the Four Freshmen played there. I was her date to the concert. A big Thank You to my sister for taking me to a fantastic concert. I have been a fan of theirs ever since!
I can't believe I'm the only one posting here so far! The Four Freshmen are the real deal! Music that will never die, their style, the harmony, the perfection and quality that through the years they have maintained with all the groups. AND yes I have all the albums!

Just a fantastic little post. I have enjoyed the Freshmen for several decades. One of my favorite songs of all time is the original Freshmen singing with June Christy and Stan Kenton on September Song, the live Road Show performance at Purdue in 1959.
That video holds up fairly well for being 25 years old. If you're not a member, consider joining the Four Freshmen Society. Check us out a fourfreshmensociety.com
I've adored them all my life.
Incredible! And here we are in 2016 and Bob F the drummer is still with the group!
I am an Indonesian who loves anything vocal harmony, and lately I have been listening to The Four Freshmen - what amazing and impeccable musicianship these men have!
Not to mention that the great Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys (one of my all-time favorite bands) has always seen The Four Freshmen as a huge influence - more reasons to love them!
I'm always looking for new video on the Four Freshman - no matter which group or number. They were from the very beginning unique in their sound - four guy's from Butler University in Indiana. I have followed them for what is now over 60 yrs. and what is so remarkable is the sound has never changed through 23 different combinations of singers and musicians. I saw them in college early on I saw them 3 yrs. ago (group 22); Ross and Bob were gone of course but the 'sound', their sound was every bit intack! Listen to Manhatten Transfer and The Beachboys in the 70's and 80's and know where those tight harmonies came from. Long live the Freshman Four...
Brian Wilson always credits the four freshmen and Bob Flanigan for The music which he created as a Beachboy.coming from a musical genius like Brian… That is the ultimate compliment.
I'm so thankful I came along when the 4 Freshmen came along. What a beautiful ride it has been with them....Loved you guys then and now...
Love them!!❤❤❤
4/10/94 exactly 22 years ago today, Charles Osgood became the host of Sunday Morning
No autotune here...fantastic!
One fantastic video keeps getting put up then taken down... Four Freshmen at the Tokyo Blue Note 1994. What could POSSIBLY be the value in keeping this concert from being available???? JERKS for taking it down.
I met the (then) current group 7 years ago in West Virginia. Have always been a great fan... but the singular best performance (in my view) is kept private. Ferreira is a great guy. Though they were rather in a hurry to start off to their next gig, they took the time to meet my wife and me after the concert.
GREAT!!!!! It has been always the style.....................Thats kept the SOUND!
The music & The Freshemen, are 4-Ever. -------------------WolfSky9
Wolfsky9 I see you everywhere.
COOL 😎
I disagree. I believe the Freshmen were singers, who also played instruments.
No cRap music here....no cursing, or auto-tune necessary....
Yes, and it's hard to believe this was nearly 30 years ago. The good news is that group #27 is till going strong with faithful performance of "the Sound" and a great blend. Check them out on fourfreshmen.com and our fan club on fourfreshmensociety.com
@@chazcone9669 Thank you very much Chazcone9669 for those links!!! :):) Have a great weekend! PS: My definition of good music is "Love Transformed Into Sound"!
I can't argue with that definition!
@@chazcone9669 You're very kind...Have a great weekend!
These days, get a group of four mundane singers and they call themselves a band. These guys really were a band.
Yes, Butch; they were and still are. One of the unique elements of the Four Freshmen is that they accompany themselves. Someone said that rather than singers who play instruments, the Freshmen are musicians who sing. Still going strong with Group #27 gigging all over the country. check out fourfreshmensociety.com and fourfreshmen.com
mmmm.... they don't look like freshmen to me.
Night school..
