Yeeeaaah ! the position null was what I needed to put something on top of a building in Metropolitan ! And all kind of over cool stuffs. You guys rock !!! thanks a lot
Thanks so much Adrew. I think that I talk forevebody. We consider you a inspiration, a master, and mainly a friend. you do for us more than you could imagine.
Look on his site, on the blod when the element 1.5 update was being announced (the image w/ the police car), it says "OK, Before I go on… this update will unfortunately not be featuring 3D Shadows but we KNOW this is a top feature and are confident it will be available in V2 later this year (we’ll get to that later). " its on the blog posted Jan 14th 2013. Hope that helps!
You do realize* that 3DS Max is not mainly for creating 3D Objects, it is used a lot to texture and do lighting for CG Integrations for compositing later in After Effects or Nuke or whatever, and a lot of other things . But of course 3ds max is advanced and takes time to learn, Elements however is easy to use yet powerful.
Like a pack for Helicopters and a pack for Aircrafts that are all fully rigged to use in Element 3D? 4K maps? Alternate 3D versions for other 3D software too? Not a bad idea... :)
Very nice,I like all the new features, I noticed the numbering of the groups along the entire group list, will definately make life easier, wondered if it would be possible to highlight each subgroup as well as colour code each group?
The easiest way to attach Particular to a point in 3D space is to use a light as the emitter. So, create a light, make it the particle emitter, and parent the light to your Element 3D null.
You should make an upgraded Element 3D trailer on the product page and RUclips. Including the v1.5, metropolitan and v1.6 show files (soldiers running, air force 1, air plane flying, some cities, dominoes animation, foggy mountains, REVOLUTION work. When people come to buy E3D they see only v1 features. They only check what's new after they've bought.
one way is to use particular. make custom particle made of a cloud art... use box emitter with no speed fill up the box emitter with cloud particles.. You may want to use several variations of the particular cloud set up to create the natural organic look...
You do realise 3DS Max is mainly for creating 3D Objects? Element 3D is to composite them into After Effects. You should use them both in conjuction with each other.
Make your own in software like blender,maya,c4d 3ds max and any others that I missed , or you can find some premade ones for free that normally would not be as good as it would be if it were a paid model , also you have to animated it to what ever scene you are doing , all these need experiences and some kind of basic idea on how to animate
I have no idea what you're doing, but I watched the whole thing just because it's really interesting. Any chance of doing UBER NOOB tutorials for people? Like tutorials for people that just got Element 3D and are just like, "What the freak do I do now?"
26:30 i saw a similar animation type in the game DmC: devil may cry where the world elements shift around and the walls extrude and stuff... pretty cool!
You're in the right here.. He basically said, "screw the industry standard, let's replace it with something built for small tasks/lower end budget!" This is a GREAT tool, but it is, like you said, for smaller projects.
actually Element 3D is an alternative render engine with some basic functions for materials and animations.(don't get me wrong.. I LOVE Elements).. 3ds max very very different program..yes..few things overlap here and there..but are focused on very different things indeed.
matte - is basically mask.. everything overlapping white is visible, with black is invisible, and gray just determinate how much visible/invisible it is. He used inverted luma matte which just basically inverted black and white channels..that's it..
He was stating that more as a joke, but ur actually wrong, it can take me around 10-100 times LONGER to render something out in C4D that looks WORSE than something made in E3D. In the end, you can do more advanced things with real 3D programs ofc, but with some creativity you can do loads of things with E3D aswell, and ontop of it, alot faster. This is one of the best plugins to AE together with Trapcodes.
Could you try doing a tutorial to bring objects and textures over from C4D? I've read a lot of stuff about bringing a map of your object into photoshop and painting the textures there, but there has got to be an easier way to do this that I am missing.
Andrew u are going to kill maxon lol matter of fact, you just made the whole 3D industry so nervous about this 3D element thing lololol good job I love you andrew
They can do the same stuff, but 3DS Max can do it much better, if you have the time to learn it, and all the techniques, but Element 3D works perfectly fine too!
That null object tool doesn't work for me. The Null gets placed in a totally different area, usually not even on my model. I can't figure if I'm doing something wrong, or if the tool is a lot pickier then this video makes it out to be.
I have a curious question regarding the position of particules between 3D objects, well if the objects are 3D and the particules use 3D space too, why its not generated automaticly ? like placing another 3D object between the others (instead of particules) ?
You should create shitlods of packs for E3D, not just one :D jk, I know it takes alot of time, alltho, the importance of the shadows and reflections is skyhigh, but im sure E3D will evolve there, I think this plugin can be as big as a 3D program like C4D almost one day. You could take a look at how the plugin Elementary works, I dont like it tho, but maybe it could be integrated to E3D somehow. Anyway, im now going to enjoy this new video of urs,
after 7 years still useful, thank you andrew
this is heaven for a 3d artist with no time
Yeeeaaah ! the position null was what I needed to put something on top of a building in Metropolitan ! And all kind of over cool stuffs. You guys rock !!! thanks a lot

Thank you so much for this new update. You gave me some new toys to master and create stunning stuff.
These new utilities are going to be game-changing. Working with various groups and objects was slightly awkward before. No longer! Great update!

His blog post said that the upgrade should already be on your download page over at videocopilot
Very nice,I like all the new features, I noticed the numbering of the groups along the entire group list, will definately make life easier, wondered if it would be possible to highlight each subgroup as well as colour code each group?
looking prepared to me already :p
I love you videocop! Andrew why do u prefer windows os for your tuts and not mac?
That's what I call accessibility, LEGENDS. CONGRATULATIONS!
Brasil!
Every element 3d update totally blow my mind
You can find "Introduction to after effects" in VideoCopilot's website. it goes way back. check it out.

Prove that Element 3D is magical. With no experiences in 3D animation, I render this entire car scene in Element 3D 1.6.
one way is to use particular. make custom particle made of a cloud art...
use box emitter with no speed fill up the box emitter with cloud particles..
You may want to use several variations of the particular cloud set up to create the natural organic look...
Andrew you blew my mind like 8 times in this video I freaking Love element 3d! Keep up the good work! You and your team are like VFX geniuses!!!!
"For some type of vacation I'm sure." hahaha! Sounds like a dig.
This is the best thing I've ever seen!
Of course. AAE is the best for motion tracking, and you don't have to shift from program to program.
The speed at which Lord Kramer is updating E3D, I am pretty sure the next update will feature True Gravity. ;)
Yea I got that :P And I completely agree, I use Element 3D and it's awesome, very easy to use yet very powerful.
Amazing !
Genius !
Look's like a Steve Jobs's presentation... "This is a revolution"
Big thanks and congratulation !!
Another awesome tutorial by Andrew :)
Really nice work, when is the release ?
I don't know why I'm watching this... I don't even have Element 3D
That's like saying you can't enjoy piano music because you don't play the piano. Makes no sense.
same I don't even have after effects
same i don't have a pc
same I don't even have eyes
I don't even exist.

Element 3D is a game changer

Wow!
WPO - is brilliant!
Andrew, you are the Bill Gates of Video Graphics!!!
No joke, you're my role model.
yea... i want to know about those awesome rigging tools in E3d.
That would be so awesome!
I have no idea what you're doing, but I watched the whole thing just because it's really interesting. Any chance of doing UBER NOOB tutorials for people? Like tutorials for people that just got Element 3D and are just like, "What the freak do I do now?"
E3D( 2013-2023 ) is the greatest AE plugin in the World !!!
Fluck YES!!! Add the Wright Brothers Aircraft too :)
Great job VC team. Please try to make a plugin like realflow in after effects!
Nice VCP .... and thanks!
26:30 i saw a similar animation type in the game DmC: devil may cry where the world elements shift around and the walls extrude and stuff... pretty cool!

how do you get the environments so good? like air plane and jet examples
Wow, again just wow Andrew.
matte - is basically mask.. everything overlapping white is visible, with black is invisible, and gray just determinate how much visible/invisible it is.
He used inverted luma matte which just basically inverted black and white channels..that's it..
He explained it perfectly well...

i saw this plane model on iron man 3 and was wondering where you got it, and if you could possibly upload the obj file to your website
oh my god. this is gold
Hey Andrew, great work, please make a tutorial how to make this moving 3D sky
Try Animation the plane with its Group null.while the flares null is its child. I hope it will work that way but it may be tricky with OF.
Cheers.
Video Copilot
Hey! im not andrew but i know what you mean! its called an HDRI map. you have to use an environment sphere. he has a tutorial on that already! ;)
Thank You!
Could you try doing a tutorial to bring objects and textures over from C4D? I've read a lot of stuff about bringing a map of your object into photoshop and painting the textures there, but there has got to be an easier way to do this that I am missing.
Version 2 will have it I believe.
This is so awesome !
Andrew u are going to kill maxon lol matter of fact, you just made the whole 3D industry so nervous about this 3D element thing lololol good job I love you andrew
Hi Andrew, I wanted to ask how to make a reflection in Element 3D
They can do the same stuff, but 3DS Max can do it much better, if you have the time to learn it, and all the techniques, but Element 3D works perfectly fine too!
12:40 - Thought you said "Chest pieces" :D
Can you write me what is your computer and what is your graphic card because my computer don't work with element 3d tks and I like your videos!!!
This is really really amazing!
Just clarifying. I used the word "idiot" toward Visiondrugs1 properly, not for one simple mistake in misunderstanding how something works.
element 3d top features is an excelent work of disney
great stuff, thank you!
Hi ! I found the answer, ... Yes that Graphic Card works !! The Video Copilot admin said me that in a e-mail
That null object tool doesn't work for me. The Null gets placed in a totally different area, usually not even on my model. I can't figure if I'm doing something wrong, or if the tool is a lot pickier then this video makes it out to be.
doesnt work for me either. It is placed on the correct spot and does not follow the movement of the 3d model.
I have a curious question regarding the position of particules between 3D objects, well if the objects are 3D and the particules use 3D space too, why its not generated automaticly ? like placing another 3D object between the others (instead of particules) ?
Hey, Andrew, Could you tell how you made a "3d" sky with the jet. thx
Great, I'm new in this AE
this is like when you want something done already like when making a promo video or want to advertise your product.. etc...
Hey andrew any chance to know what are your system specs? are you working with a SSD drive? Nvidia? Amd? i7?
Re-enforcing your title as AE God once again!
AWESOME.
Andrew is a BOSS !!
finally you changed your GTX580 for a new GTX690 ! does element 3D takes advantage of the dual GPU?
So cool!
Awesome!

You are blessed thanks
my main concern is how u animate the water in motion when jet fly over it
Thank you for lesson
There is the ambient occlusion option? Or create a matte?
Surfaces pack in the making? I could use that right NOW ;)
Superb
The perfect Master of After Effect
The one legend
He is my best teacher and Name.Andrew Kramer
Andrew, what computer do you have and what are the specs?
AWESOME
nice stuff !
how did you get the planes? I have element 3d but im wondering where to get the planes.
i got a problem. When i track with the new 3d generate null feature the null does not follow my imported object.
27:52 He said "Element 3D v1.6 is a free upgrade". How much clearer could he be?
How do i make the background move with such motion blur and speed to simulate plane movement?
Thx!
what if i already have the first element. and then ill buy element v1.6. is it going to just get updated or 2 programs kind of?
