    What a breath-taking view. God bless! Thanks for showcasing this place. Yes! I heard story of people constant fussing and quarrelling before the land sink. Who knows the truth?

  • @zndrsmith
    @zndrsmith 3 месяца назад +5

    It is believed that the pond was created when the land there sank in the 1692 earthquake which sank most of Port Royal. The pond was once a source of salt for the region.

    How about doing some research and give us the history of how Yallas Pond was developed. History has it to say that the land was owned by two brothers which was left by their diseased father and they were always fighting over who owns which section and one night they went to bed and woke up to see the entire land was covered in water. The water is also salty and there are times when you drive pass you can see loads of salt around the edges of the pond.

    Why does the Yallahs Pond/Lake have a green color? What caused it to develop?

    • @HorsedeadCowfat
      @HorsedeadCowfat 3 месяца назад +4

      It's a natural formation. The color is probably due to stagnation. Definitely not pollution. It has a smell too sometimes, Probably due to fresh water mixing with salt. But I'm not a geologist it's just my observation after spending some time there

    The opening from the pond to the sea that you talk about seeing with the drone was man made in 1902 also there is another created between the two ponds. This was done to get rid of a very strong stench that usually emanates from the ponds which went all the way to Kingston. There was a certain bacteria in the pond which was creating hydrogen sulphide so opening the ponds to the sea solved that problem at the time.
