pretty sure his 'real talent' has been shinning since he fist picked up a guitar, SMFH. He was the top Sessions player way before he founded, started Led Zeppelin
My father bought me in through the out door when i was ? 14,was only albu. I owned i played it over and over .loved it thn. This live version is great. Dad passed in April. Tribute. R i p .c.j.s!!
Long Story Short . . . Its Boxing day 2015. I am communicating with a dude from the USA and I'm in Sydney, Australia. This hombre tells me that his dad was a roadie for Zeppelin in 1977. This cool fan sent me pictures of Led Zeppelin that I have NEVER Seen before or since. His dad was a massive Led Zeppelin fan and managed to get tickets to both Knebworth gigs in England in 1979. So what I hear you all say ….. This guy sent me a wmv file of the second 1979 Knebworth gig. It was hard, raw footage and Zeppelin and the sound . . . atrocious. The version here, which I love as well as the fantastic version of the self titled - Led Zeppelin DVD - are outstanding. Jimmy Page has obviously mixed copies/edits/grabs off In the Evening on RUclips. I am glad Pagey did this as the sound and mixes off the second '79 Knebworth gig, in particular his solo's were truly awful. Heroin . . . Page's performances in '77, 79 ands 1980 were severely hampered by heroin. Zeppelin in '77 - this fan sent me a second file of predominantly Jimmy Page performances from 1977. They were amazing good videos albeit short. Why don't I share these videos - This 15 year old had amazingly good IT skills. On this file was an amazingly good version of In the Evening from 1980. No video but just sound, I was blown way. After I watched this file 5 times I received a message that said 'You Have Exceeded the Maximum Usage' and the file DELETED itself." Dohh
I've heard this song live and on the album and, it's one of the better ones from In Through The Out Door. It's not my favorite Zep album but, this, "Fool In The Rain" and "All My Love", excellent songs so, I don't write this album off like some Zep fans I know.
So true. After seeing this in 1995 by Page and Plant and the various other versions. A proper Zeppelin version, the song just takes off as it's intended. The later versions operate with it's heart and soul stripped from it. I look at this way - this is the song as the band envisioned it. Not some Egyptian ensemble with a terrible dragging tempo that guts JPJ's synth solo - those are just bad news in 1995. "Plant-ified," and the greatness ripped from them.
@ Jeff Higgs The 4th, was pretty damn good save for a few nerves. August 11th, I'm sure the band would've wanted a mulligan on that show with the technical problems, string breaks and Jimmy and Bonzo being "off."
When speaking of the best keyboardists, JPJ should be in the conversation.
That Concert Sound Was Awesome Sounding. I Seen Robert Plant Walk On A Stage, His Appearance Was Of An Late 70-ish. The Realization Came I Am Old Too.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy in September 2015 at a coffee shop in Holland Park, London. I was very nervous and he was very kind.
Dude you walked and talked with gods. Truly blessed you are 😎
Jimmy Page is the bravest player I've ever seen. He truly will try anything he deems beneficial to the feel of the song.
Two in the chest y lo mejor es que queda perfecto con lo que añade. Siempre me genera “ goosebumps “ como en tu idioma se dice.
He tried anything because he couldn't remember how he played a song yesterday.
@@agnostic47 Maybe you don't play guitar but you have no idea how hard it is to improvise every time, page, Hendrix, beck, Clapton, etc
@@agnostic47 YOU'RE A DISGRACEFUL. GO PLAY SOMEWHERE AND FO!
@@agnostic47 Page was often looking for new ways to get what he wanted from a guitar. Having out of phase switches installed on his Les Paul for one thing, alternate tunings and even playing cheap guitars (Danelectro) and sometimes cheap (Supro, at the time) or unusual (Rickenbacker Transonic) amps.
The phone... on Jonesy's piano... LOVE it!!!
Greatest concert ever. I know because I was there
Me too ... great memories.
No band to this day is better than Led Zeppelin. And Jimmy rocks it.
Every player in Zeppelin rocks it; that's why they're so special.
When John Bonham transforms noise -- mere sound -- into music, it is the mark of a true genius.
Four extremely talented individuals came together to form the ultimate band. Without Zep half the bands today would not exist. And all good looking.
Led zeppelin is the best there is the best there was the best there ever will be
Yes they are. True Rock and Roll Gods forever !!!
I agree 100 percent
End of story!
Yes sir !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Led Zep had the best musicians and singer in the Universe! Beatles had the guitar chords and chorus that shocked the world!
From 7:17 on is just magic, and they only did it live, and best at Knebworth. The call and response from Page and Bonham is just so good.
Led Zeppelin are the only ones who could perform the best live
Bonzo was really doing extraordinary things at this point in his career and coming onto something even more incredible. Not to say he wasn't before, but my God he's magnificent here.
That's not even playing the drums.. Its so incredible there's got to be another term for it..
1979 was his best. Listen to copenhagen concerts. Best ever
To me all of them were at their best point that night.
@@dortega12 6/21/77 is certainly a contender for Bonzo's hottest night
When I saw led Zeppelin live I could have swore there was five drummers when John Bonham plays
I WISH I COULD HAVE SEEN LED ZEP LIVE. I JUST MISSED THEM. THE CLOSEST I CAME TO SEEING THEM WAS , SEEING THE FIRM 2 X LIVE WITH JIMMY PAGE. AND SEEN JASON BONHAM , THE MASTERS SON.
So thankful for no pitch correction or auto tune. It makes it feel real.
Unsterbliche Musik die mann auch noch in 500 Jahren spielen wird
Are you friggen kidding me this was fire 🔥 they killed it!
I remember hanging out with my my buddies and asking 'hey do we like this album now?' What a relief because the answer was affirmative across the board.
This will always be my favorite song by Zep. It reminds me of the summer after graduation partying with my friends. My brothers. Many gone now. Great times and great memories. Thank you Zep.
Me too. The memories.
'80 grad agrees.
THEE BEST BAND EVER!!!! NO ONE COMPARES!
The type of song that makes you want to be a fcking rock star
The sounds they could create live with 70’s technology is simply amazing. It shows you how great they were live and as a collective group. Simply the best
To be fair they did have the very best technology available at the time. Look at that telephone on JP's keyboard.
@@Jlipnicki😅😅😅😅
Why Led Zepplin is really the best band in history.
~ 6:30 I like how jimmy was imitating Roberts voice with the whammy bar....the greatest band to exist. untouchable
So cute hahaha
Bien sûr , à bien écouter le groupe on se rend compte de l’énorme potentiel
love the roughness of plants voice in this song..what a great band they were
And this is one of the many reasons why Led Zeppelin is the best band in History. 😊💗
I so agree💯🥰💖👍⭐👌💌
Some will argue it's Pink Floyd, or Deep Purple, or Metallica, or even Aerosmith. One thing is for sure and that is Bonzo is the greatest hard rock drummer that ever lived.
@@metalmike570 Keith Moon. Zeppelin is overrated. Trash lyrics and plagiarism.
@@dociebiemowie915 Looka t them physically. Bonzo - 6 feet tall 225 lbs. Heaviest hitting drummer most people think so. Keith Moon - like Lars Ulrich. LMAO
@@metalmike570 Peart and Moon >>> Bonzo
When Gods still walked the Earth!
Such a cool song, I’ve listened to Zeppelin since I was a child and I still come back to this when I need a lift
7:15 -- that build up to the ending man….🤯
Bonham and Page
The greatest ensemble band in Rock history
Dear God. It don't get better than this.
It is a pity they did not play this at the 02 reunion
Led Zeppelin is the Best Fucking band in the world! !
No Shit!!
Absolutely!!! 🤘🏻
zoso baby...
Usted tiene totalmente la razón!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always has been always will be.
No mater how many times I watch this Im blown away!
This live & Since I’ve Been Loving You live at MSG (1973), are my 2 favorites, but I love all from them.
A year before Bonhams death. Tragedy but still remembered
Zeppelin had a magical mysticism about them. Lyrically, and musically, no one compares.
I was there it was a great day out.
Zeppelin were in top form.
They strode the planet like musical monsters. All four of them individually & collectively. No one comes anywhere near them. Headed by the best manager ever Peter Grant.
That first chunky note Page plays at the beginning of the solo is the best...it's like you're entering into his dimension, his little world...welcome and prepare to have your face melted.
It is nice to hear songs on the phone
I love the way Jimmy smiles at about 7:31. It likes he knows they nailed it.
Same thing happened during achilles as well on that night
He's smiling because he knows it was a miracle that his guitar stayed in tune. 😄🎸
@@MarcoPolo-je5ej without a locking nut, it's a real miracle
I noticed that also. Love this song. Best version/ video of it, period! Thanks for the post.
That drum fills... this is why I keep listening this
Many think Bonzo (Bonham) is the greatest hard rock drummer that ever lived. I gotta agree.
The Lord of the strings and sounds of the hammer of the Gods - Led Zeppelin !!!!
1000000000000000000 procent true
A deeply profound song indeed
I'm glad that Jimmy Page found peace within himself and got his act together to this day where his real talent shines.
I'm glad Jimmy was able to save himself, so many can't. I've never hear how he accomplished it. Surely he must have had some help.
Indeed but it's a shame he trashed himself later on around the time of Live Aid. He was wasted and played terrible at that gig.
Clapton never really recovered
pretty sure his 'real talent' has been shinning since he fist picked up a guitar, SMFH. He was the top Sessions player way before he founded, started Led Zeppelin
@@theresacarmen9847 he actually said because of what happened to bonham that he got straight
My father bought me in through the out door when i was ? 14,was only albu. I owned i played it over and over .loved it thn. This live version is great. Dad passed in April. Tribute. R i p .c.j.s!!
At that time, LZ had not played since 1977. They still sounded excellent in 1979.
Led zeppelin fantastic band I was at that concert 19 at the time showing my age now
Best version of this song!! Love it so much!!!
There are some pretty killer 1980 live performances of this track FYI. Dortmund 6-17-80 being one. Cheers.
Hands down the best.
Puts the album version to SHAME!!!
Jimmy Page has obviously mixed copies/edits/grabs off
In the Evening on RUclips.
After I watched this file 5 times I received a message that said
'You Have Exceeded the Maximum Usage' and the file DELETED itself." Dohh
I've heard this song live and on the album and, it's one of the better ones from In Through The Out Door. It's not my favorite Zep album but, this, "Fool In The Rain" and "All My Love", excellent songs so, I don't write this album off like some Zep fans I know.
I can watch this all day loudly❤
Golden god with the golden vocal chords
So many versions of this song on RUclips yet this is the only one that really gets off the ground !
Such an Incredible Performance by the Late Drummer, John Bonham! He Died Way Too Young!
Knebworth was one of the best shows they ever performed
@ Jeff Higgs The 4th, was pretty damn good save for a few nerves. August 11th, I'm sure the band would've wanted a mulligan on that show with the technical problems, string breaks and Jimmy and Bonzo being "off."
@ The Beach Guy. That's nice.
