Lyrics:
This ole house once knew the children
This ole house once new a wife
This ole house was home and comfort
As we fought the stormy life
This ole house once rang with laughter
This ole house heard many shouts
Now she trembles in the darkness
When the lightning walks about
Ain’t a gonna need this house no longer
Ain’t a gonna need this house no more
Ain’t got time to fix the shingles
Ain’t got time to fix the floor
Ain’t a got time to oil the hinges
Nor to mend no window pane
Ain’t a gonna need this house no longer
She’s a getting ready to meet the saint
This ole house is getting shaky
This ole house is getting old
This ole house lets in the rain
This ole house lets in the cold
Oh my knees are getting chilly
But I feel no, feel no pain
‘Cos I see an angel peaking
Through the broken window pane
Ain’t a gonna need this house no longer
Ain’t a gonna need this house no more
Ain’t got time to fix the shingles
Ain’t a gotta time to fix the floor
Ain’t got time to oil the hinges
Nor to mend no window pane
Ain’t a gonna need this house no longer
She’s a getting ready to meet the saint
This ole house is afraid of thunder
This ole house is afraid of storms
This ole house just groans and trembles
When the night flings out its arms
This ole house is getting feeble
This ole house is in need of paint
Just like me it’s tuckered out
But I’m getting ready to meet the saint
Ain’t a gonna need this house no longer
Ain’t a gonna need this house no more
Ain’t got time to fix the shingles
Ain’t got time to fix the floor
Ain’t got time to oil the hinges
Nor, nor mend no window pane
Ain’t a gonna need this house no longer
She’s a getting ready to meet the saint
Ain’t a gonna need this house no longer
Ain’t a gonna need this house no more
Ain’t got time to fix the shingles
Ain’t got time to fix the floor
Ain’t got time to oil the hinges
Nor, nor mend no window pane
Ain’t a gonna need this house no longer
She’s a getting ready to meet the saint
Ain’t a gonna need this house no longer
Ain’t a gonna need this house no more
Ain’t got time to fix the shingles (fade out…)
Shakin Stevens 1980s hunk . Heart-throb. Nice guy .thank you for this happy wonderful song that will never grow old..love ya xx❤
I’m an American. I was a teenager in the early to late 80s. I wasn’t s’posed to be enthralled with Shakin’ Steven’s. Well, F*** ‘em, I WAS!
I still have to struggle to find any of Shaky’s stuff. Thank goodness for the internet.
I NEVER got to see any of these vids or hear half of these songs that he released ‘round 40 YEARS ago!
He IS a great artist and I love his work! 👍
If Elvis had a son, it would be Shakin' Stevens. Hands down one of the best ❤
one of the best I never heard of until now. 43 Toronto
,💯Agree❤❤
If Elvis fathered an illegitimate son who was adopted by a Welsh family
Elvis from aliexpress🤣🤣
Unfortunately, Elvis did not have a son.
He had a musically untalented daughter.
Shakin is his true son in the spiritual and musical sense.
In some segments, even better than Elvis.
I love it! I used to dance with my brother RIP all Shakin Stevens songs. We had a great time, we love Rock and Roll. Thank you for sharing 👏👏♥️
Playing this for you mum. Have a dance in heaven you angel.
Damn shaky was awesome, such feel good music, belting out happy vibes in a great time to be alive
Man kann einfach nicht genug von shaky bekommen.
Shakin Stevens ist der weltbeste Musiker.
Keiner kann ihm das Wasser reichen.
Brings bk so many child memorys all the 43 years i been a fan and i still love it and him xx
This is the song that made Shakin' Stevens a music staple!
Best version ever...and I still play it on my radio shows! ❤
Pulled out my gnashers, tightened my incontinent nappy, took a firm hold of my zimmer and wiggled and waggled across the room ! Lets go champ.
Gotta love an 80s
Top act
Performing 50s style music...
I'm 55 now
This came out when I was 15...I was a New York kid whose family moved to Ireland and UK in 1981
Even though I was more a classic rock and Heavy Metal fan
I thought Shaky was Absolutely brilliant..
His sound was so Authentic
His Voice was Awesome (Welsh..go figure)
Missing my teen years listening to this
i'm 73 years old now, been hearing this song all my life. always evoked an emotion from me, and now more than ever. my house is getting old, children gone, needs paint, etc., but i'm not going to work on it much any more as i'm nearing the time when i "meet the saints". originally i listened to stuart hamblin's version.
That time of year thou mayst in me behold
When yellow leaves, or none, or few, do hang
Upon those boughs which shake against the cold,
Bare ruin'd choirs, where late the sweet birds sang.
In me thou see'st the twilight of such day
As after sunset fadeth in the west,
Which by and by black night doth take away,
Death's second self, that seals up all in rest.
In me thou see'st the glowing of such fire
That on the ashes of his youth doth lie,
As the death-bed whereon it must expire,
Consum'd with that which it was nourish'd by.
This thou perceiv'st, which makes thy love more strong,
To love that well which thou must leave ere long.
Same with me Richard
Being a country song, the Stuart Hamblen version has a very different vibe to it and also slightly different lyrics. I prefer the Shakin' Stevens version, as the melody seems to better fit the lyrics, especially I love how he sings "Ain't got time to fix the shingles". The Hamblen version sounds too happy for the lyrics to my ears.
Nice attitude to everything sir, wise words 👍
Stuart Hamblen wrote this song & Rosemary Clooney 1st recorded this back in 1954. Very nicely done for Video effects & keeping alive.
I knew I was little singing with family..Did not have memories from 1980. I was 4 years old
Me fantastic star bloody great singer
I recall my sister and I would put on little shows for my parents when I was a kid, me going up on my toes like Shaky was a forte of mine. We used to get behind the sofa and do the Smiths crisp advert too. happy times.
Memories of my teenage years, bloody marvelous 😃👍
Yep me too .... great childhood
Are you "50 something" too 👍
@@mrtoptenatten just turned 56

The Welsh Elvis at his finest
He is one of the most beautiful male singers ever to have walked and sang on the planet.

Üdvözletem neked kedves Shakyn köszönöm a csodálatos zenét!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am there's nothing better than Shakin Stevens
One of my all time favourite singers and the reason why I still have no problem wearing double denim.
"Double Denim" never heard it said that way... but I do live under Rock... I like it.. and The Rock.
aint nothing wrong with double denim.
Apparently double denim is in again 🤣🤣
@@smurfmummy3106 what aint been brought back ? Fashion just repeats just gets better over time
Double denim is not a crime 😃
I am 79 years old and love him he makes me feel young ❣️❣️❣️

Ei ole aikaa korjata
I just remembered the song and it's still brilliant. Have it saved now to my play list. The good old day's. Where have all the years gone?
40 years later and I'm only beginning to appreciate how good a singer he is
Can't ever get over our old music It's the best ever
@@mary-annegreyvenstein9910 Indeed! I miss the 80s.

Love it Rico.xxxxxxxz
What a hit! Now in glorious video and audio quality! Thank you for the music, Shaky!
You can add me to that list great singer indeed
When I was a kid about 7, this (Shakes) was the first album that was bought for me!! I now see this is high vibrational music!! I asked the universe yesterday to bring me some high vibrational music instead of that programming crap on the radio. That delivery from the higher realm is quicker than Amazon. Keep em coming universe! Thank you very much! Xx
Was my first album too at age 7 or 8. 😂❤️
When I dance around my kitchen watching him, I can’t help but think Elvis had nothing on Shakey! Haha. I’ll get shot if me mother hears me say that! Haha.
A that's makes my day happy love this song classic xxxxxxx
Who else had a crush on this man ?
He looked fun!
Super ♥️ale dalej
Love this song from 79 or 80 ... I was born in 1970 and don't cheat with looking up.
Love you mr Stevens. Hope this song pays some of your bills.
Was my step dad favourite 🎶he recently found out he had 4 stage cancer
we are getting ready for his memorial then funeral
I’d love to express my love and gratitude to Shaking Steven’s I literally grew up with you 🎶
Absolutely brilliant!!
Gave muziek van shaking stevens.❤❤😅😅
Was in my early teens back then,! Born 23rd May 1968, from northern Ireland UK, 🤝🇬🇧♥️ , an old guy now,! 😁
This mans a legend but has been totally erased from history by today's radio stations, they just refuse to play him even if you send in requests for his songs. This song should be on the playlist of the so called radio stations who claim to play the greatest hits from the 80's but they continually refuse even though he was the best selling singles artist of that era.
Never gets old and now in HD love it love it love it!
My brother tells me 'that ole house's is near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. It's since been done up, may have to drive out that way to give it a look...
Great song 👌 puts a smile on my face I used to have it on a 45 single
Lovely stuff
I am. Just discovered him! I’m hooked!!!!
He is brilliant.
You just discovered him .I am so pleased .check out all his work .He's just up there with the best
The Welsh Elvis. I loved Shaky when I was four years old. I used to dance to his songs for my nan when I was tiny. This song’s still great.
Shaky was my heartthrob back in the day, had every single/album loved him 👍
Same
i still have them all
Omg me too
Fantastic! So good to see this video back here in all its restored glory! Thankyou! 😀
Takes me back 40 years when I was only 21. I used to dance like that and hearing it all over again makes me want to dance the same, but dare I? I'd end up on my back an totally breathless :D
Me too I'm 65 now totally knackered lol
That means yr only 61 thats not old...go for it
me is 66 and bugger it I will give it a go..
@@mikegremlin5249 that's the spirit...I'll turn 50 this june and I'm a singer in a rock 'n roll band and still going that way, dancing all over the stage. I will keep on going doing that as long as I can...and as long as the music turns you on....you never to old to dance
Yea we will
Brings back nice childhood memories. I love this song.
I run out of credit this morning
Love this Welshman Shakin’ Stevens my heartthrob from the 80s and still listening to this music in 2021..............Kimberley 🇬🇧

Thanks to whoever posted the real lyrics😊
:D
Bravo,Shakin,mīlu tavas dziesmas no jaunības❤❤😊😊
First single I bought, aged 9, had to persuade my mum to go to a local record shop to buy it. It was after seeing this video on tv. That started something that continues to this day, buying every single, album, anything that had Shaky's name on it. Great to see this video with the complete original vocal track (and no ''meet the saint'' change!).
My dad bought this for me
Same herefirst 45 I ever bought I ended up a massive rockabilly fan and still am thanks shaky
I'm starting to think that Shakin Stevens is the king of rock n roll and Elvis is the Prince.
Not quite
Not even close. Elvis was the original.
Fantastic
I have every one of your Albums from way back when you were with the Sunsets right up to 1984/85 and Your music still rocks me just like it did back then, WTG Shaky.
I have a passion for houses like that one. Preserve. Restore. You don't realize what you've got until it's gone.
This is Nostalgic at its finest, turning 20 this year even tho I may be young I remember my mother always singing this song. even tho she can't sing at all but this type of music has stuck with me ever since then.
I'm like this song for shakin Steven more
Very happy song.
Man this bloke was my childhood class he was❤
Shaky's first UK No.1 back in March 1981 and it was, still is and always will be a fine song.
It's not the original though
Apparently somebody else did it before him though?
@@richallenxbox1976 the original is from 1958 still a great tune
He made it famous tho😅
Thank you all you RUclips guys for putting on Shakin' ! He's a real moova, and so are you guys !! Well done !!!
Brilliant love the song love shaky
England's 1980s answer to Elvis Presley!
He’s Welsh
nostalgic. simply nostalgic.
My daughter and some friends watched the filming of this....in Suffolk Unless I'm wrong, one of her teachers bought it some time later and did it up. Great days!
I need this at 6.30 when I need to wake up ! They don’t make them as good anymore! 😁❤️🇬🇧
Timeless classic, remember it like it was yesterday. Still as good !!!!!
Great entertainer, love ya shakin 🙏♥️🙏♥️
Whenever I hear this I always get Elvis vibes
Love shaky❤
My favourite singer and song. Great memories from my teenage years.
He was an exciting , lover , sleep well Shaky xx
Shaky's knees have had a good workout over the years. A miracle he isn't crippled now.
I just love this tune. Thanks for sharing.
Loved those shakin days!
Yes this house is still standing ❤
Thank You very much, Shaky! I love You're music !💞🍁😊
Best version ever from this song. Love the bassline!!
The 80s are alive again and more clearly than ever
This was retro music in the 1980s :)
He's a copy cat from a song way before the 80's. So many artists just copy others...so little creativity any longer and they even destroy the meaning of the original artist. ruclips.net/video/0WhLhF12TBE/видео.html
@@regencymanagement4374 That may be so, but I would always prefer Shaky's versions.🙂
@@martinabendel5377 What version sounds better is not the point. Would you be OK with someone ripping off your songs and the music that you poured your life into? This copycat should try to create his own musical works or at least keep all the words from the original version and not change the content or meaning of the songs he takes from others.
Great stuff!!!
I love this man terrific voice and fun music Old School Rocks from Desiree Fox from East Perth WA
Nice job Steven
Brilliant. Keep going forever Shaky. X
Great memories
Used to listen to this in Pakistan and Nigeria of all places. 1980s.
