    LYRICS:
This old house once knew my children
This old house once knew my wife
This old house was home and comfort as we fought the storms of life
This old house once rang with laughter
This old house heard many shouts
Now she trembles in the darkness when the lightning walks about
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
Ain't gonna need this house no more
Ain't got time to fix the shingles
Ain't got time to fix the floor
Ain't got time to oil the hinges
Nor to mend the window pane
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
I'm getting ready to meet the saints
This old house is getting shaky
This old house is getting old
This old house lets in the rain and
This old house lets in the cold
On my knees i'm getting fever
But i feel no fear or pain
'cause i see an angel peeking through
    A broken window pane
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
Ain't gonna need this house no more
Ain't got time to fix the shingles
Ain't got time to fix the floor
Ain't got time to oil the hinges
Nor to mend the window pane
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
I'm getting ready to meet the saints
Now my old hound dog lies a sleeping
He don't know i'm gonna leave
Else he'd wake up by the fireplace
And he'd sit there, howl and grieve
But my hunting days are over
I ain't gonna hunt the 'coon no more
    Gabriel done brought in chariot
When the wind blew down the door
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
Ain't gonna need this house no more
Ain't got time to fix the shingles
Ain't got time to fix the floor
Ain't got time to oil the hinges
Nor to mend the window pane
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
I'm getting ready to meet the saints
When the saints, go marching in,
Oh when the saints go marching in
Lord i want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in.
Oh when the saints (oh when the saints)
Go marching in (go marching in)
Oh when the saints go marching in.
Lord i want to be in that number
    When the saints go marching
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
Ain't gonna need this house no more
Ain't got time to fix the shingles
Ain't got time to fix the floor
Ain't got time to oil the hinges
Nor to mend the window pane
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
Ain't gonna need this house no longer
I'm getting ready to meet the saints

The smallest singer up there has the deepest voice- probably more than an octave lower than anyone else up there. Powerful, clear, perfectly on pitch. Reminds me of a kid in high school I knew - he was the shortest guy, but had the deepest voice.

One of my favorite songs of all time sung by George Younce and the Cathedrals. But, Tim Duncan has done as good a job with the songs as George and George was one of the best there was. I closed my eyes & thought, WOW! THAT'S GEORGE & THE CATHEDRALS! However, George didn't have to cup the mic in order to be heard. I met George Younce, & when he spoke, he almost made the floor shake. =) 💝

That is one clear and pure low bass voice! Don't think I've ever heard such a resonant voice! And Tim Duncan's not even a particularly large guy. It's all in the throat, I guess.

    • @kinchan30187
      @kinchan30187 5 лет назад +1

If resonance is what you like, you'll like the voice of Thrul Ravenscroft too.

    • @jmullyy
      @jmullyy 4 года назад +2

It’s more so in the chest, believe it or not, the chest produces the sound, and the throat makes resonance and bass rumbles.

Deepness or highness of voice tone is from the esophagus. The shorter the lower I think I remember correctly, and the longer the higher or visa versa

Love The Signature Sound, but if we're being honest - no one comes CLOSE to touching George Younce on this number. The Cathedrals nailed it - none were better. Thankfully - though they are long gone - they gave us Ernie Haase and his Signature Sound to carry their sound forward.

Tim is a great Bass Singer. There have been and are now a lot of great Bass singers, but the debate is about who is 2nd. There never has been and never will be anyone who can hold the light for George Younce to run by, he simply is the best ever.

From the old days there is also Big Chief Wetherington, i think his name was, of the statesmen.

    • @Will_DiGiorgio
      @Will_DiGiorgio 6 лет назад

Jim Wetherinton from the Statesman and JD Sumner were arguably 2 of the best quartet bass singers... Most people forget that at one time JD Sumner held the record for lowest note sung.
JD Sumner gets a bad rap IMO, because people watch his later shows with Bill Gaither, when he was well passed his prime. He was in his prime in the 50s through the 80s. He spent 7 years touring with Elvis in the 70s and performed some incredible vocal moments on stage, as Elvis often featured his voice. I'm certainly not taking anything away from George Younce, but I always felt he was more of a true baritone and a falsetto bass singer. I believe I've even read that George wasn't known to hit some of the deeper notes, but had a very rich and tonal timbre to his voice. That is not uncommon but to me a true bass singer would be, JD Summer, Jim Wetherinton, Richard Sterban Etc...
