If you remember in the trailer, there was a beach bathroom that opened - they have lots that take the entire space for a building and blends into the non-lot spaces. So it's a public bathroom, for homeless characters or if you have to pee in the middle of exploring.

This is some of the interview from Rod about min specs requirements and I kinda agree with him "our emphasis is not to make it work on all hardware". Rather, it's to make "the best game we possibly can". I would strongly urge people to look at the min specs and take them seriously. If you're going to play the game, you're going to need a good gaming PC." ….. I mean If you want a good game at least it’s open world and have many abilities and potential such as depth gameplay and have many things to do in game and we haven’t talk about beautiful graphics. You have to consider to upgrade your pc. It’s not fair to cut off many good things in the game for you just can play this game. We all know the reason why the Sims 4 is lack of gameplay and cut off so many things from the previous games franchises just to make sure that they’ll have more players and make more sales of it.
I’m so happy that the LBY team focuses on making the best life simulation game. I have no problem buying a new pc to play this game if, in the end, it’s a good game. Everyone is too hyped for the next "The Sims" clones that they forget this isn't an EA game. This is a different company with different devs, different everything, and that's good. We need different life sim games that isn't just EA. This is a game that is new, and not even out yet. Perhaps they will add weight, and muscle change in the future. Look at the Sims 4 babies were objects for the longest longest - too long until recently. Games updates, and it's not going to spit out everything right at the start. It will probably come out in early access, and then later on before or even after full launch it could have weight and muscle features for the gym. Just don't get too hyped over a game, because in the end you will be disappointed by something no matter what. I'm looking forward to the game, but I won't get it straight away. Probably a year or so depending on everyone gameplays.
By then EA will have fifty useless kits, 0 new stuff packs, 2 game packs, and 1 expansions, because they love to make useless kits instead of listening to their community, and customers. I do hope this game becomes way better than The Sims. We do need a change, perhaps it'll be Paralives which I do look forward too as well.

@@joyfulgirl91 Yeah the weight thing isn't so great but a general fitness and stress management would be good, but the weight control is a big problem in Sims 4 cause for some stupid reason, when you play different households and you visit one of your other ones, they always make a white cake to eat, I always have to make my visiting sim throw away the cakes or take the entire cake so my other sims don't gain a bunch of weight, otherwise I'm always having to use Full edit mode in CAS to set their weight to the right level, especially when I have a household of models that have to maintain a certain weight limit for their photographer to earn money for their household and business, EA made it stupidly over challenging, also does working out even lose weight in Sims 4, cause it seems like gaining weight is really easy, but losing the weight on the workout equipment is almost impossible, also, if you have mods for child fitness, you can make the treadmill one step smaller for children, and it will fit them perfectly at standard child size if you haven't changed their size with sliders or mods.

The fact that the bodies don't change by working out in the gym really doesn't bother me that much. If they can become more skilled or gain a higher tolerance for strenuous activities and be able to socialize and meet other people, that's what I think counts. I think LBY is going to have a lot of flexibility to match different people's playstyles. If you want to stick to one family and play generationally, you can, or if you want to play rotationally, you can, or if you want to start with an empty world and build a town, you can. I do hope the "humans'" facial features come into better focus as it seems like they all have pantyhose on their heads, but I can adjust if the gameplay is there. "We don't really know what we want" is 100% the best way to say it. It worties me when i see so much of the life sim community judging everything through the lense of Sims. It will suffocate the development of new titles trying to innovate the genre or push for something different. I believe that's also true when we're talking about these games running requirements. We're used to Sims being able to run on laptops, and assume that's the way it should be, but realistically, most modern games need a PC or console to run for the most part. Games are becoming more demanding b/c of their graphics and depth of systems. The lifesim genre is eventually going to have to move beyond needing to contain themselves for low spec laptops. Especially with how many features it's clear the community dreams about being in these games.

Its doubtful this will ever come to console, and Paradox is nearly on the level of EA when it comes to numerous paid DLCs. Base game Cities:Skylines or Stellaris feels *alot* like base Sims 4.

The weight system in the Sims 4 is so broken, I have a very active Sim who takes care of her cows & chickens, gardens, paints, does her laundry by hand, never sits around watching tv or computer, eats once a day and she still ends up fat at the end of the week if I don’t make her go to a gym all the time. In the Sims 3 I had the opposite problem, my Sims kept getting too skinny if I didn’t make them eat dessert. So honestly I’m fine if they don’t have a weight system, because I’d rather have none than annoying ones, just give us good sliders & leave it at that.

I'm hoping people realize that the publisher of this game, Paradox also has a tendency with their new games that at launch, they're kind of bland. Crusader Kings, Stellaris, Cities Skylines, Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis. All great games but at launch, they were a little bland. But they improved over the years with patches, free updates, and (dreaded) Paid DLC. Plus this game is still in heavy development, so of course things won't look super polished and some mechanics may be missing. But that's okay, because I think what's really going to help them is the transparency they're having with the community and willing to listen and take into account the feedback from their fans.
Also lets be real, every sims game was bland at launch too with the base game, I don't think its fair to compare the all of the Life Sims coming out against each other. Sure they're all life sims, but they're trying to do something unique with their games, and that's great! The best thing us fans can do right now is give supportive feedback.

Stuff like cancer and miscarriage can be super triggering or upsetting to some people, and devs know that, which is generally why they avoid things like that. Life sim games so far have always been fairly lighthearted for the most part, because games are supposed to be a fun escape. I know that if I wanted to deal with homelessness and cancer and depression, all I'd have to do is stop playing games and take a walk.

I think it’s wild people care so much about cars when it’s like, where are you even going with them? It’s essentially just wanting an extremely expensive decor item.

Yes, exactly. I think this is going to be a very different game to The Sims. People compare it to The Sims because that's all they know. And it seems that most people who play The Sims ONLY play The Sims, so they can't conceive of a life sim that is very different. And those who do play other games play only a few select games like Stardew Valley and a few farming Sims, so they see these two as similar because their breadth of gameplay experience is minimal. That's not much variety!! People very much need to stop comparing and stop judging them side-by-side. They are going to be very different, but people also need to suspend their judgement. How can you know whether you'll like this game or not if you haven't played a game like it? I play a lot of different kinds of games and I don't know whether I will love this game or not, and I don't think anyone does. Sure, judge the graphics (I for example, like the surroundings, but not the people - no facial expression or body language makes them look creepy - I hope an improvement for that is in the works), but I can't judge the gameplay because we really haven't seen any yet - we've only really seen game MANAGEMENT, and that's not gameplay. I have a lot of hope for this game, but I'll decide whether I like the game as a whole or not later when I've seen more, and the more I see, the less reason I see for comparing it to The Sims. They are both life sims, yes, and that's where the similarity ends.

IMO we're way too early into Life by You to critique it for having "missing" feautures- it's not even in Beta stage yet. Comparing a still developing game to 2023 Sims 4 is super unfair. When Sims4 came out it didn't even have toddlers or pools. If they release LBY with that level of glaring omissions then by all means we should critique but i'm not going to be mad if I have to adjust my characters body weight manually rather than it being done automatically as a game mechanic. If they're following the Paradox model of lots of small DLCs (using Cities Skylines as my comparison) then they will probably put out a gym/health DLC later on anyway.

Life by You seems to be working on much more than the Sims team ever has, and even though they're still lacking on things some people keep complaining about, this game is already doing more than the Sims has and the Sims 4 has been around for almost a decade. I think people should wait to criticize this game until the full game is out.

You don't need a physique management system for there to be gameplay consequences for going to the gym or otherwise working out - Impacting life expectancy, impacting various fitness skills which can then interface with career or quest systems, and so forth.
I have concerns about the game, but they're more macro scale "I'm not sure what the general gameplay will look like for this?" due to how I play The Sims doesn't feel like it's going to work in LBY. But while concerning for me, personally, since it means I don't have a sense on if this game's going to be 'for me' that's a good thing for the genre since it means it's going to have to have a fundamentally different sense of what we do in the game since the lifespans are just far too long for the sort of stories a lot of people play out in The Sims to work - Generational gameplay only makes sense when you can reasonably play through the lifetime of several generations of characters. Even the stories that would equate to 20-40 years of IRL life I tend to play out would take around 120-240 days of non-stop gameplay to play out. My concerns are that there's currently a bunch of question marks covering that, but I'm sure by the time early access comes they'll have replaced those question marks with information. Whether to my liking or not.

But the gameplay will be vastly more complex, dynamic, and unpredictable.

I've always found the Sims' weight management system to be overly stylized, allowing for characters to pretty much effortlessly shed all sorts of weight and get shredded in just a few Sim days, and then maintaining that physique forever.
There's so many heavy people in the world that are physically-active that stay heavy, regardless of how much they work out. There's so many skinny people in the world that fail to gain muscle definition regardless of how much they work out.

Isn't one of the big things about Paradox games is their modability? So presumably the idea is that if there is something you think you would like to see in the game, you will just be able to create it, add it and share it yourself.

I definitely don't mind it being different from The Sims, but I don't think it's unreasonable to want actions in the game to have relevant consequences. Not only the working out thing, but also they showed off the real time conversation editor where you can change what your human replies in a conversation they're having, but it doesn't change what the other human will say at all. So to me, that's kind of pointless. I'm withholding judgment until we actually see the game, but being able to customize things or do activities in the game is useless if it doesn't actually change anything in the gameplay. That combined with the graphics/anatomy of the humans in this game make me worried I won't be able to get into it.

Personally I think the weight management would be done manually, by taking them to cas.
In the sims 4 weight management is garbage, if your sim only eats salads, and only if they are very very hungry, they don't get super (unhealthily) skinny, no they gain weight.
    Why?
Because the only way to loose weight in the sims 4 is by working out, unlike the real world where you loose weight if you eat less calories than you burn.
The amount of muscle mass they put on is ridiculous aswell.
I always have to take my unsportsmanlike sims (who eat healthy) to cas, to make them appear skinnier, and take my sporty sims to cas to make them look less bulky.
The point is, the weight management is difficult, and calculations have to be put into place to make is realistic, and if it sucks players are going to make up their own rules anyway (like in the sims 4).

Since I highly doubt they're going to invest large quantity of development ressources into making some really extremely indepths weight system which it would have to be to work well. Take sims for less you almost exclusively eat salad your sims will take on wait less they do gym excessives or running, muscle mass doesn't seem to impact fat burning calories in sims 4. If you just eat slim and do fitness work out you get extremely muscle bumped, even when you just been running and never did any power lifting. So please god no happy to see sims 4 horrible weight system not there. for one.

Some want their sim to have the skill but not actually lose weight so go back and change them back to the way they want their sim to look. Let's be serious, happens all the time. Working out and doing activites should be done because a person finds it enjoyable, not for trying to shape the body. I applaud them for removing the size connection to food and activity!
