@@Pooh_Bella Well, if something is so overrun by flaws that it's unplayable, the good things aren't worth pointing out, not that any reviewers do this, they always mention the good things
@@Pooh_Bella but he doesn’t only point out flaws, he even complimented one of the packs in this exact video. Now YOU would be considered “being negative.”
I have a little over 4500 hours into the Sims 4, owned almost every pack and kit, and I stopped playing it in November 2022 and have not returned since. Playing other games like Coral Island, Dreamlight Valley, Planet Zoo, etc. have showed me what a game that is made with love looks like. EA uses the Sims 4 as a cash cow and I got so tired of making up excuses for the game. Happily putting my time and wallet towards other games that actually listen to their players and I don't plan on returning to the Sims Franchise
also the fact that getting new park isn’t exciting anymore because it looks like sim team just give him 😭 like….is it me or I have a burn out building house with this many packs
The sims 4 is probably the last EA game I'm ever touching. I'm happy waiting for paralives or life by you. I play other genres but I can't get into gaming right now
I could rant all day long about this topic. To put it short, what ruined the Sims4 for me was the family friendliness they’re trying to shoot for. The Sims was NEVER meant for kids and trying to cater to too many audiences will ruin any game. The game needs adult themes to survive. It has pretty objects and pretty set like worlds but theres no motive to play and gets boring when every Sim is basically the same. It lacks depth.
I will even admit Sims 2 & 3 have nostalgia boosting them up, but even so- they cared about ALL the little details and stories that Sims 4 have just thrown out the door.
@@kayosplash i have to agree the sims 4 sims feel pretty much the same in terms of character but in sims 2 and 3 they felt unique in the sense of perks plus the things they did in parks and other recreational places.
I honestly CANNOT STAND how cartoonish and silly and childish sims 4 is. Burglars were removed for being "scary", everything is sanitized and utopian. Nothing feels like it has any weight anymore, angry sims stomp around like toddlers, slaps are a stupid slapstick routine, nothing feels serious or like it matters anymore. They scrub away anything naughty, or gritty or mean or remotely scary and along with it went anything interesting. It drives me nuts.
It doesn't help that the modern sims community is so focused on sims youtubers and sims youtubers own all the packs (even the ones they claim to hate!). It doesnt' matter if lilsimsie said My Wedding Stories was broken in her review. Every time she builds in the world, or uses items from the pack, she is advertising it to her thousands of young impressionable viewers. And they will buy it.
It also doesn't help that she (along with a lot of other people to be fair!) sandwiches her complaints and critiques in between a ton of compliments. I like her channel but like you said, she has thousands of young impressionable viewers. It doesn't matter that she says, "Hey this pack is broken." if before and after saying that she also says, "But the world is so beautiful. The objects are amazing. Everything's stunning. Buy this if you want to." ten times lol. I think the Sims community as a whole has a problem with forced positivity. I remember when I was younger I'd buy every pack because I'd only ever see super positive comments about *everything*. Only to grow up, do a little digging and realize a lot of "negative" (aka completely reasonable) reviews were just downvoted, hidden or not promoted as much.
@@anani8604 I guess Lilsimsie has more serious relationship with Ea than Snatch has. And sometimes I wonder what would she say if things are more comfortable to talk for her. (And for gods sake, do not buy my wedding stories, ugh )
@@anani8604I bought the seasons pack when I was younger because of lilsimsie and I really regret it 🥲 it’s one of my least favorite packs. I like watching her channel and still do regularly but truly none of her critiques are actual critiques. She’s a snowflake that can’t ever say anything too bad and although just bc she claims the sims don’t pay her so her opinion is “honest” she gets the packs sent for free and is invited to ever sims event and is a game changer. Does she get paid to make her videos? No but because she is invited to everything and has tones of viewers, she is commissioned to build in worlds like growing together for example. So does she get paid directly from sims? Only if she’s commissioned to build for a pack which I feel is blinding her younger audience. Off of that, of course creators are going to have bias over a pack they helped create.
I have so much love for ts3. I remember being so excited for ts4 before it came out because each version just kept getting better. I got ts4 the day it came out, played for less than an hour and didn't play again for 2 years because I was so pissed. I build sometimes but I haven't played normally in forever. I have a toddler who I play pretend with, I'm not about to do it in the sims too because I also hate it lol
yeah, I was around my teens when it came out so i didn't buy it my parents did. I was able to play it a bit longer being a child, but around the 2nd pack coming out I got so bored I stopped playing
I feel you so hard on the "I have inspiration to play but very quickly get tired of it"... An hour in CAS to give sims a shred of personality to fit the scenario. Look for a house which makes sense for them. Redecorate. Hate it. Bulldoze. Start googling houses. Spend the rest of the day building said house. FINALLY I can play this thing I thinked up yesterday. One sim refuses to go upstairs. I have to click on the ground to make them go there, then click on the thing I want them to interact with once they're there. Between them arriving and me clicking, they decide to check on their toddler and get back down the stairs. Another sim is doing pushups then immediately diving into the pool. It's winter. The kid is making a mess with paints. They move a few feet away to make more mess with paints. First sim tells them to cut it out after I pause the game to make them stop checking on the toddler who is sitting on the ground doing nothing. The kid hates their parents. This Sim hurt them. They feel pain being in the same room as them. Their relationship is strained. I question my life choices. Second sim needs to pee. I click on the toilet. They can't reach it. A counter is in the way. A. Counter. In another. Room. Placed without moveobjects. I save the house to my gallery and exit the game.
No cause exactly, I end up spending hours in cas/build mode trying to give my sim a personality due to the lack of actual personification they give them and by the time you finally finish, you're completely burnt out and unmotivated to play.
Sims 2 and Sims 3 are what the Sims should be. Sims 2 had so much depth and life to it, and Sims 3 added the immersion with open world. They both had major program issues, but they still have the best gameplay for realism. And unrealism, too. Vampires, Witches, Werewolves, Fairies, Mermaids... They all had their own unique things about them. In Sims 4, they feel just like every other Sim, and the weird skill tree makes it feel like a majorly failed RPG system instead of a Life Sim system. Sims 4 is just a terrible money grab, and although the building is amazing, Sims 2 and 3 still had more build personality even with their older building systems. I just want those 2 games remade for modern PCs, so that we can continue having them instead.
Like many I have been playing the Sims since the first one came out decades ago and its safe to say that the Sims 4 feels more cash grabby and more for its "time" then the rest. I dont have the highest of hopes for Sims 5
I don't either. It sucks cause I feel like I have just reached the point with the Sims 4 packs and mods that I am content with my gameplay... just for the sims 5 to come out
specially since simguru Grant is head of development for sims 5 lol (yup, the snarky "family play doesn't interest me so i don't want it in the game" guru)
The only hope I have is that they release a x64 version of Sims 3 so I can play in my current computer. As someone that played all versions of the sims, I have zero interest in Sims 5. As long as it stays in EAs hand, no good will come from it. I have a bunch of other games from EA and it has the same problems, just go check the mess that the new Star Wars game launch is, just a truckload of bugs and things that don't work, laziness all over the place. Incompetence seems to be EA's staple now.
What I think is personally missing from sims4 is random events, the biggest one is the burglar, also can sims even be taken by aliens in the base game anymore? My sims never get taken away It's weird because I didn't even know mods and packs existed in the sims 2 or sims 3 but I'd still be ridiculously excited to play. I boot up the sims 4 (when it works, cant even get in the game now since they changed from origin to EA) with all my packs and mods and I get bored in the first 10 mins, im wondering if its nostalgia?
I would say it’s not nostalgia! I’ve had the sims 4 since it was released and that was my primary sims game as a kid. I loved it so much because it was a blank slate; it honestly functioned like a doll set for me. Now that I’m older and have been getting bored with the sims 4 I’ve switched to 3 and there’s a lot more substance there. I love how much spice the random events add to my game and that I can easily switch between my sims no matter if they’re across town from each other. If you grew up with those games I would really recommend revisiting them!
@@leviahgreen-wells7413 maybe I will take a look at the Sims 2 again then since I grew up with that game It's the graphics I can't handle tho lol if I could have Sims 2 and 3 mashed together with Sims 4 graphics it'd be perfect 😂
From one Brit to another, please keep being you and playing what you wanna play. I agree with you the Sims 4 is a bore, but your brutally honest reviews are a joy to watch. I'm also super excited for Paralives and can't wait for you to play it :)
Satch, don't worry, you're not being negative, you're just being real! And I freaked out when you said you liked Vixella because I do too! I only watch sims content from you two because of your wonderful personalities
I have weird streaks when I play the sims 4 nonstop for days and when I don't touch them in months. I have a really slow going legacy family which I've been playing for around two years. The problem is I think is that sims really lack personality, no matter which trairts they have they are all basically the same and it influences nothing. Also we all tend to play the same positive vanilla sims over and over again. So when I randomized some stuff and added more chaos into the game it can be fun. Mods do help a lot, I gotta say after CurseForge arrived I startd to use mods more often. That said, Sims 2 is probably my most favorite game of all the series. Just can't get past how sims 3 looks)
Off topic but this reminded me how in Sims 3 I would send my sims on a "holiday" to China and how fun it was. There were so many things to do, it really never got old or boring. If I tried that in S4 I'd be searching desperately for something to do within half an hour
It's so sad cause I feel like my wedding stories could've been so fun! Weddings are such a big life moment and so much drama can happen and it's sad that they dropped the ball so hard. Even if the pack worked, it's still lack luster. Where's the male strippers at the bachelorette party in sims 3 or honeymoons or the PLANNING! The planning is such a big part of weddings! Having a wedding planner the same way the Real Estate mod has realtors would be such a fun experience or having an ENTIRE bridal party and having moodlets or interactions involving being a bridezilla, stressed maid of honor, sad moodlet for father of the bride, angry sister in law if they weren't asked to be in the wedding... having a bridal shower.... It's just bare minimum with them anymore ):
They should have called it the Wedding Planner Pack because that's what it is. You don't get to enjoy a wedding because you're too busy making sure the wedding goes to plan.
I always go into the sims with some fun idea and get burnt out halfway through making a sim in CAS so I totally get it! Side note- you should watch Vixella's streams they are hilarious and she streams a variety of games!
I would totally play the Sims 3 again if it didn’t freeze on me all the time! 😩 I only started playing the Sims 4 during COVID. I LOVED all the worlds from the Sims 3. Like Lunar Lakes (it was great using the futuristic pack to have my Sims live on the moon!) Island Paradise was my absolute favorite world!!! Who doesn’t like living on a houseboat and being a mermaid lifeguard? 😎
Yes, my problem with sims 3 is when sims stop aging all of a sudden. To solve this leave the game, then when you're on the main menu, copy and paste the save file neighbor and play on the new pasted save file, it solved the problem for me.
I appreciate your honest reviews. I don't think they're brutal. They are complexity justified. I've been playing Sims since 2000 in my 20's. What EA has done to Sims 4 does my head in. It's no longer about the game, the players or their gaming experience. I could say it is solely about money now for RA. But more precisely it's become about EA duping young, inexperienced players out of their parents money. They are being ripped off and not enough people really seem to give a sh#t.
@@hunty2500no one is saying you're not allowed to like the game but people are allowed to say why they don't + call out EA's exploitative behavior... some sims 4 players are seriously not beating the "can't take criticism" allegations
I don't agree with everyone else. I don't think you are overly negative. I think your realistic and one of the few Sims RUclipsrs who actually calls them out. The Sims 4 is awful. It doesn't even feel like a Sims game. The whole game is an afterthought, and it's exhausting.
Nobody ever talks about how they completely gutted the core gameplay loop of the sims. Wants, aspirations, emotions, all of that's fine. But the core gameplay of the sims was always fill needs--->make money--->buy objects--->fill needs faster--->make more money. That gameplay hardly exists at all any more. Cheap items fill needs pretty much as well as expensive items. Especially hunger, where the only advantage you get from more expensive fridges and stoves is a better moodlet. Also the items are all over the place anyway, with cheap items having high stats and expensive items having low stats. They removed comfort in 3 so it no longer matters how good your chairs are (unless you care about moodlets) and the energy provided by a cheap bed is more than enough anyway. In Sims 1 it was a constant grind to get better and better items and you were always struggling to do what you needed to do. That struggle was what kept you playing. Every subsequent game has shifted focus away from that core gameplay and that's why no one wants to play the game any more. Because it's not a Sims game, because it no longer has Sims gameplay.
I agree and then i also feel like a lot of simmers lost the imagination needed to actually enjoy sims 4. They really let it be all in our hands unlike 2 or 3 where they kind of gave you things to do. 4 is really for builders and i hope they get it together cause i love the sims so much
recently, after being a mainly sims 4 player with reshade and a 25 gb mods folder for years, i got the random inspiration to fix up the sims 3 and play it, actually play it, not just opening it up for nostalgia every few months. and oh my god. even a few hours in i was compltely hooked and like fell in love with it all over again. i played it straight for the next week after that. so much fun, and the game always knows what to throw at you to surpise you and make you love it even more. But it also made me sad, to realise how hollow and shallow ts4 is in comparison. even now, i booted up ts4 for the first time in around a week and a bit just to maybe try and play some of my nsb legacy. but as soon as i loaded in i felt so flat. like there was nothing to do. i feel like ts4 is transparent most of the time, like something pretty looking that you can so easily see through for the cash grabby and originality lacking mess that it is
I agree with you completely- on another note as well sims 3 was made in 2009 and the game built with 1gb of ram and storage- it had opened world, patterns, color wheel, easyish house building and most base game houses were good. (Oh yes and vehicles in a good expansion pack) Sims 4 base game was 18gb and had NONE of that
Oh goddess I feel so vindicated. Having grown up in Europe with exclusively UK television I find people in the US think I'm overly negative or whiney. I just enjoy complaining though. Honestly it's a wonder how I never developed a more British accent.
Sims 3 is such a good game. I always come back to it and i don't own every pack but i still have a lot to explore in rhe packs i own, and still have so much more to play with. And I'm gonna start to invest my money in the Sims 3, not 4. Because even it can be a little bit laggy sometimes i can have a sh*t ton of mods and CC, sometimes i can barely play vanilla with sims 4 and it doesn't even have any game play lol
If you don't mind Not giving EA any money, games4theworld (google it) has all of the Sims 3 including the old store content that isn't really available anymore. They also have a lot of Sims 4 but they're not up to date at all so I don't recommend them for Sims 4. They also have Sims 1 & 2, Medieval, Castaway and a few others.
I was so excited for growing together but my experience with that pack was spending hours trying to make the house look fine and a few hours of gameplay with infants, got all the milestones and then i was done, i got bored. I can't wait for other life simulation games to come out, good ones, so the sims will actually have real competition.
You just described what I go through every single time I try to play Sims 4. As a long time Sims player, the fourth game is more of a spin off than a serious sequel to Sims 3. Can't wait for LifeByYou from the creator of the Sims.
I jumped back to The Sims 2 as I just found myself wasting so much time creating sims, downloading the perfect lots to fill a neighbourhood to then get bored after 20-60 minutes of actual gameplay. Then theres the glitches and the updates to be progressive (Some are good... Some are not). I've been exclusively playing The Sims 2 again for the past 6 months and its so much fun. With reshade default replacements and CC it doesent scream 2004.
I haven’t bought my wedding stories along with quite a few other packs/kits Ect. The ones I do have I’m happy with (aside from dine out 😂 thank goodness for mods) Edit to add: I wouldn’t want you to play something your not having any fun playing, that’s not enjoyable. I love your mod reviews and cas cc reviews, do what is enjoyable for you!
I used to love playing the sims 3, but I didn’t get the sims 4 because I was busy with school and thought it would completely consume my time. Now, I get it out of curiosity and it’s so buggy. The worst in when I direct one of the parents to feed a toddler and then do something else with another sim only to get a notification about how if I don’t feed my toddler child services will take them. I find the sim that was supposed to feed the toddler sitting, doing NOTHING. So every time I command a sim to do something I have to watch them to make sure they do. Sometimes I have to command three or four times before they actually begin doing the task, and by then they’re already peeing themselves.
You don't need to go through the rigmarole every time. You can save the sims and renovated houses to your gallery and use them again. You can have a save file that is set up ready just to play by clicking on load game no need to start a new game every time. There is easy ways around some of your problems.
I absolutely love how you just completely lay out our true addictions. Doesn’t matter how bad it is, we have to have it. I love it. And your laugh. I laugh every time you laugh. Positive vibes 🎉🪬💕
honestly this is why i use the unlocker and don’t feel bad about it bc you need the dlcs for it to be anywhere near decent, but even then taking the cost out of the equation, the amount of space you need for all the packs and mods to make the game playable you practically need a gaming computer to play it 😵💫
I feel like I have to make my games so ridiculously complicated in order to enjoy playings Sims 4. Like having a household start with no money and have like 8 sims start a commune on a deserted island basically every time I play. And I have to use mods in order to play, which I didn't even knew mods EXISTED when I played 2 and 3 religiously. Recently started playing 3 again and I'm really loving it.
As an English Language and Literature major ( I am Turkish) I've been seeking to find someone who has a nice British accent to follow cause I don't want to lose my accent sparkle (u know). And I am so happy to find you! I will listen to you even if you keep complaining lmao
I used to make Sims 4 content and after being so disappointed with the packs that came out in 2019 I straight up quit. I was one of those people who bought every pack until I was sick of throwing my money away on something I didn't enjoy anymore. I stopped making content and stopped watching other simmers until your channel was recommended to me. I love your videos because you're honest and I've never thought of you as being negative. Xx
Your honesty is so refreshing…I’m tired of simmers defending a million dollar company that doesn’t give a f about them. There is no excuse for unfinished, broken dlc period. Miss the sims 3 quality!!
My Wedding Stories is honestly the biggest fuck up in Sims history. They made a whole pack for something that happens once in a Sim's life. Hell, sometimes Sims go their life without getting married
i uninstalled sims 4 from my computer last year because i was so bored of it and never played it. I LOVE the sims and play 2&3 all the time. 4 never felt like a sims game to me though. it was a dollhouse simulator and always will be i think. the fact it’s nearly 10 years old and still pumping out sh*t dlc that people are happily buying shows it’s nothing but a cash cow at this point.
You really brought it out front here and everything you said I agree with completely. I spent all day yesterday playing Sims 4. Well, not playing really I just set up new people and houses and then logged out. As I usually do. Building and creating characters is fun but the actual gameplay is not. So sad really. :(
I’ve slowly began watching more and more of your videos because I ADORE how real you are. So many popular simmers try to be honest but then immediately take it back 😭.
I’ve been playing a lot of the sims 2 lately and honestly I love the story it’s something I miss I like each weird little quirk with the base game family’s and there’s so much lore I love the sims 3 too I started playing the sims 4 and it feels dead nothing seems to be going on I downloaded mods it’s just missing life it’s very pretty but that’s about it imagine sims 2 with sims 4 graphics and sims 3 world that would be amazing
No matter how much I modded Sims4 I just didn't care about the sims I was playing. I agree about Sims 2 - they each have interesting stories that you're just thrown into (The Curious brothers in Strangetown for example).
EVERYTHING you said is spot on!! The Sims4's quality goes down with each new add on. I also loved Sims3 Adventures pack. My fav place was AL Simhara. I never realized about going to Shang Simla first tip. VERY GOOD VIDEO👍
As someone who only owns the base game (no resources) I say it’s even worse than the packs. I know, not a big discovery to pin on you fridge but.. It’s a life simulation game. Life comes with basic stuff like weather, animals starting your businesses etc. to get all that you have to pay for a pack that is not even mostly worth it. The game basically allows you to only have kids, do a basic job which just by the way you have no control over because your sim isn’t even controllable. Most people have access to this normally which I expect from a LIFE SIMULATION. I don’t expect EA to add occults, new worlds or anything interesting like that in the game for free (they’re obviously too greedy). I’m just saying give us broke people SOMETHING thanks for coming to my rant I’m ending it here cause no one’s reading something this long anyway
Satch, you're not overly negative at all. You're honest and real, and one of the few RUclipsrs who are. Your criticisms are usually valid ones without unwarranted bashing. The Sims 4 is a shit game in every way except the graphics, which is just window dressing for a game, and anyone who doesn't realise that doesn't play other games. These people who don't see that are toxicly positive. We need to criticise things that aren't done well, otherwise things never improve. The toxic positivity in The Sims community over the last decade has been pretty sickening to watch, and it's part of the reason why EA have worsened from just a not great company a decade or so ago (it was a brilliant company in the 80s - SOOO innovative at the birth of computer games as we know them now - that's why they are so big, but they changed somewhere after the turn of the century), to becoming a really, really dispicable, totally unethical company that releases broken garbage upon broken garbage - because these toxicly positive people will buy it anyway. Other games on Steam are brilliant, unbuggy, made patiently and with love, and provide 1000s of hours of fun without becoming bored, but if you're one of these idiots who refuse to see that, than you bring everyone else down by buying games like The Sims 4, because that gives companies like EA permission to rip people off. While you continue to buy their crap, you are giving big companies like EA full permission to rip everyone off, and enticing other companies to copy them. In short you are contributing to damaging the industry. This toxic positivity where people don't complain is not good at all in the long run.
Been playing Sims2 since 2006. Sims4 lacks the heart, quirkiness, and character of Sims2 although I've been thoroughly loving Growing Together. I just pre-purchased Life By You so I'm super excited for that.
The thing with needing to go through CAS and buy a property to start a save file is a major flaw in the game!!! Why have pre-made families if you have to jump through hoops to play them? There is no game mechanic that allows you to play a pre-made family on a fresh save like wtf is that?!?
The thing is, sims 2 and 3 by the end felt like complete games. Almost ten years after its release and more dlc than we thought was ever possible for the franchise, the sims 4 still feels incomplete :/ I have been playing 2+3 the past year bc I’m just so bored of 4. Like, why does it take multiple game packs and kits for sims 4 to even come close to having all the features of ONE sims 3 expansion pack. Supernatural? Well now it’s spooky stuff pack, vampires game pack, paranormal stuff pack, and realm of magic game pack, if you want the same features of ONE expansion pack. That’s not even mentioning how later on supernatural was bundled with ambitions for $20??? Imagine if we got two expansions for that price in s4???????
Every once in awhile, I’ll see some Sims 4 pack that looks like “maybe it would make the game more interesting,” and while I’m tempted I quick watch one of your brutally honest reviews. That always snaps me back to my senses and I go back to playing Sims 3, so thank you for the wonderful service your rants have done for my wallet! Very much appreciated! 😁
I don’t think you are negative person 😭😭😭 I genuinely think you are one of the most truthful when it comes to the sims as well 😊 if the game is crap you can’t really say anything else and I appreciate your honesty with it. I only discovered you recently but I will only watch your reviews going forward if I want to buy any more packs
It’s been around 6 months since I ACTUALLY played the sims 4. I have a pc now, sometimes I pop in and try to play… but I always click off the game after 5-6 minutes of playing. It just got soo boring to me. Early 2022 I played every day on CONSOLE for 3-4 hours. I bought a shit ton of packs. I really was enjoying myself back then, it’s just not the same anymore… 💔 *Edit* : I’ve heard really good things abt sims 3, I’m gonna give that a go. Cuz I’ve never really played it. I’ve only watched lp’s on yt.
I loved playing the sims 2. The core gameplay was pretty easy and simple, which just made it enjoyable to me. TH3&4...eh I got mixed feelings about both of those, I usually try new things from the new packs but I rarely manage to play it for a longer period of time. It also didn't help that I didn't have much time for playing it now, so I actually skipped few packs and now when I decided to get them, I kinda feel lost cause there's suddenly so many options, but none of them enriches the core gameplay to me.
You’re absolutely right on everything you just said 😕 I hate how shallow everything feels and I want to be excited, but it’s hard. I love your mod reviews btw!
I’ve given up on EA fixing the glitch in their app (not recognising packs). I uninstalled all my TS3, reinstalled, skipped the origin thing and it works again. Also looking forward to getting my gaming PC fixed so I can play Life By You and Paralives. I only do those challenges in TS4 for obvious reasons.
In The Sims 3 if I didn’t want to make a family I just played one of the pre-made families. My favorites were the Langeraks and Sekemotos Sunset Valley and Riffins in Apoloosa Plains. I wish you weren’t forced to make a sim first thing in a new save. The Sims 3 only forced you to make a household for the tutorial. I feel a sense of guilt that I can’t play the Sims 4 the way I played with The Sims 3. I’ve discovered I need structured gameplay. The Sims 3 more naturally provided this with the pre-made families, quests, and lifetime achievements. The Sims 4 requires me to make my own structure. I’ve had the most success doing challenges: four immortal sisters, homeless, etc. I’m so excited for Life By You because we can make our own quests!
I agree with you as a fellow brit! I remember in Sims 2 and 3 I didn't have anywhere near all the packs, it'd be a treat for my birthday or whatever, but yet I still played for hours and hours. I've had sims 4 since release and put over 4k hours in but I do still go months without playing. I think Sims 4 could be great but I never leave my home lot because it's a loading screen just to visit my neighbours so I don't buy many packs for it then I feel I'm missing out
I agree with you! I admire your honesty! I don't think you are negative, I think you are very smart , and a critical thinker which I respect!! Yes, many simmers are addicted to buying DLC, even if it is often faulty! I also like mods and free CC, and I use them a lot in builds I don't upload.. Unfortunately, in order to share some of my builds on the gallery, most simmers prefer that it be cc free... I hope that other games that are coming out (Life by You and Paralives) are more open to using cc..
I wonder if the upcoming brutally honest review that has a high score will be City Living? It’s my fave! But I appreciate all of your content. I love the honesty and I love how you don’t kiss the sims 4 butt! Keep ‘em coming. And I totally agree. Sometimes I try so hard to get into gameplay sometimes and it just falls flat. Without mods, I’m not sure what I’d do lol
One thing I also like about World Adventures, is that there is a ton of Indiana Jones type exploring to do, but you don't *have to* do that to make the worlds fun. If you just wanted your sims to have a "normal" vacation there was still enough to do to make that type of gameplay fun, too. Personally I used to always make my sims go on honeymoon in France haha
I think you should play the sims 2 and sims 3 more, I would enjoy that more or you could do a build a city challenge for the sims 2, or you could do the lepacy for the sims 3
World adventures was the highlight of my Sims experience. The equivalent in Sims 4 was just an anticlimax. If it wasn't for the mods, I would have given up on the game altogether, and I can see myself doing so anyway soon. Sims 3 I played for every expansion, and paid for a ton of dlc. There's only a few good ones for Sims 4, but all the community stuff requires many dlc packs, meaning that either the community never uploads base game stuff - unlikely - or it is hidden in the hopes of selling more expansions. I keep seeing the same bug reports as I get, the same complaints that they remove stuff telling you that you have unlicensed material, even when you don't, and I see modders releasing bug fixes. Mods are broken by the updates, but they don't seem beneficial for the majority of players, and they can't be disabled on steam. There's a lot of contempt to long time customers, and it seems strange to me. People willing to spend thousands of dollars each on your products should be welcome, but instead I see the Devs doing rants on how they will ban people voting for trump or whatever. It's tiring. They seem to think that they will have a tiny but pure customer base who will nevertheless pay enough that their company will still be profitable. I expect it will crash soon. They had huge good will, but are burning it up, and the winter will come with them shivering in the ruins.
As a fellow Brit, you’re not negative you’re just correct lol. I was looking for a recliner chair today in buy mode on sims 4 for my lazy sim and I was like wait, we don’t have one???! Sims 2 (20 year old game) has several in base game! Sims 4 is an embarrassing instalment let’s be honest
Usually the way I get around the CAS when I start a new save file is I just make a placeholder sims, put them down somewhere, remove them from the house, and go from there, and even then that takes a few minutes that didn't need to be spent in CAS when sometimes I wanna get creative.
I've started just accepting the sim provided in the initial CAS and then saving it, grabbing a random townie, and just dealing with the crappy house until they can afford to renovate. It has helped a bunch
So... You saying you like watching other people play, but not so much playing yourself.. Is exactly why I'm here watching 🤣 Oh, I keep getting all these brilliant ideas, and get them rolling, then the next day don't care anymore. Because I know exactly how it will go. It's only fun to start it. Then I close the game and come watch other people who seem to have more fun doing it than me.
This is why I switch things up with save files. So many creators make save files that are detailed and immersive. I hardly ever spend time in cas or building
It's alright friend, honesty is a great thing, that's why I watch you after all. Do what you like and don't look at those who can't actually be honest.!
I like playing sims 4 when I’m in the mood to play it but it gets really overwhelming and boring after a while and I get over playing it really quickly. I have the sims 3 on my laptop but because I’m playing such a complex game on a laptop obviously it runs terribly and I can’t afford to buy a good gaming PC to be able to play it without it crashing every 5 minutes so I’m stuck with the sims 4.
I was about to play sims again but took a look at your video first then changed my mind, I was the one that said my wedding stories was the last straw for me, and I'm happy to say I haven't bought a pack since, I liked sims cause of building and gameplay but there isn't much gameplay so I went back to Ark, Conan, Minecraft, Valhiem, and sometimes even 7days to die, there is at least building and gameplay in these games so no more uploads from gould11 think I'm retired from sims building, thanks for your content and helping me break my gotta have every pack cycle I was in.
Agree about the adventures expansions I just completed the Sims 4 Jungle Adventures and was very disappointed after seeing Sims 3 world adventures as one of my favorites. Jungle Adventures took maybe 2 streams to finish and my Sims 3 one is still going!
The biggest problem with the Sims 4 is the lack of care towards detail, functionality and the fact that it's unplayable without mods. I've never played any other Sims game. Nostalgia isn't an issue for me. But even for a relatively new player (to the Sims franchise) the Sims 4 is just so bland. With EVERY pack that's released there's an object that makes you go, "Why isn't this functional..." or a detail that makes you go, "But why wouldn't they include..." I can count on one hand all the packs that DON'T feel half assed. They don't fix packs because, like you said, they know people already bought it. I mean, it's embarrassing that modders for other games actually modify the games while modders for THIS game just make it functional. To enjoy this game you need a LOT of imagination, a LOT of nostalgia (either for the Sims franchise or for the fact that the Sims 4 was a safe space for a lot of communities), a LOT of patience and a lot of packs and/or mods. I love this game, I really do, but there's no way in hell I'm buying the Sims 5.
Update: I just want to say though, as a Sims 4 only player, I DO feel cheated. I used to tell myself, "Oh all these things aren't in the Sims 4 because it'd be too hard for them to do that..." only to find out that games like the Sims 2 and 3 had all sorts of things in them that the Sims 4 is lacking lol.
I love the Sims and I do like the Sims 4 but there are several, nostalgia, things that are missing in the Sims 4 to feel like the Sims. Burglars, cars, carpools and schoolbusses, the newspaper kid, the landline phone, ... these are actually really small and easy things for them to add in but it would give back that nostalgia feel all the previous Sims game has.
You could make videos reacting to other sims builds 🤔 or you could even start making your own challenges , I mean I’m sure some of us would do them 🤷🏼♀️ I also play Dreamlight valley so more Dreamlight valley content would be cool I mean I’m not telling you what to do I’m just trying to give you some ideas ❤
I completely agree, I'm redoing the entire game just because even after you've spent ages setting up your game in cas etc you have to play with ugly townies 😭 the lots are so mid, and there's so so much potential in the game. Thing is it's gonna take me years 💔 To be fair I'm finding it really fun to make lore and interesting storytelling for people butttt at the same time I shouldn't HAVE to. So many of us are doing what EA should have done.
Cas and build/buy mode are well done, for the most part, but when I get to live mode it just gets so unbelievably boring. Everything feels so small and closed off and like watching paint dry, not to mention just downright broken. My sims fight me on everything and the more packs you have the more broken it is. I just don't understand why or how they let this happen when Sims 2 and Sims 3 were so iconic.
Pointing out the flaws in a product isn't 'being negative' it's 'being honest' and people hate that
There’s a difference between pointing out flaws and only point out flaws
@@Pooh_Bella Well, if something is so overrun by flaws that it's unplayable, the good things aren't worth pointing out, not that any reviewers do this, they always mention the good things
@@Pooh_Bella but he doesn’t only point out flaws, he even complimented one of the packs in this exact video. Now YOU would be considered “being negative.”
Too bad, people "hates" Criticism and Honesty because of Simple Minded Consumerist
Well if they don't like the game then they shouldn't play it let alone criticise it
I have a little over 4500 hours into the Sims 4, owned almost every pack and kit, and I stopped playing it in November 2022 and have not returned since.
4500hrs and how many of them hours is gameplay? dont count your builds i bet its more like 500hrs
The sims 4 is probably the last EA game I'm ever touching. I'm happy waiting for paralives or life by you. I play other genres but I can't get into gaming right now
Over 4000 hours in a game you don’t like? Why?
@@5hrimp_Nachos it's called "not knowing what you're missing" note they stopped after playing other games.
@@kayosplashplus in sims 4 if you go outside people are not there most of the time or dont interact in deph with the soroundings.
The sanitation of the sims is literally the single worst thing about it, which is impressive considering just how much is wrong with it.
I have fond memories of playing TS3 too. And yeah TS4 is big disappointment for me especially with lots of missing features.
Me too! I just kind of gave up on ts3 because it lags a lot on my current laptop
yeah, I was around my teens when it came out so i didn't buy it my parents did.
You described my exact experience with the sims 4 in a scarily accurate way. This was devastating yet relatable.
It’s like a toxic relationship…”I know he’ll change!”
Omg, it is! 🥲
"She'll change!"
This should be written in the game description
It sucks cause I feel like I have just reached the point with the Sims 4 packs and mods that I am content with my gameplay... just for the sims 5 to come out
specially since simguru Grant is head of development for sims 5 lol
(yup, the snarky "family play doesn't interest me so i don't want it in the game" guru)
Sims5 will go to a subscription model and finally free me of my Sims addiction
My sims never get taken away
It's weird because I didn't even know mods and packs existed in the sims 2 or sims 3 but I'd still be ridiculously excited to play.
I boot up the sims 4 (when it works, cant even get in the game now since they changed from origin to EA) with all my packs and mods and I get bored in the first 10 mins, im wondering if its nostalgia?
No, you need Get to work for the aliens
I would say it’s not nostalgia! I’ve had the sims 4 since it was released and that was my primary sims game as a kid. I loved it so much because it was a blank slate; it honestly functioned like a doll set for me. Now that I’m older and have been getting bored with the sims 4 I’ve switched to 3 and there’s a lot more substance there. I love how much spice the random events add to my game and that I can easily switch between my sims no matter if they’re across town from each other. If you grew up with those games I would really recommend revisiting them!
@@xenia9499 I personally think aliens should be base game 🤷 at least the abduction element of the game so I can have a random event
@@leviahgreen-wells7413 maybe I will take a look at the Sims 2 again then since I grew up with that game
It's the graphics I can't handle tho lol if I could have Sims 2 and 3 mashed together with Sims 4 graphics it'd be perfect 😂
@@Waeva777 same. It looks like so much fun to have these abductions
I only watch sims content from you two because of your wonderful personalities
same))
For me is because everyone that truly was caring about the sims left their team (EA)😢
Toxic positivity is one of the reasons this game is going downhill. Keep being honest.
Off topic but this reminded me how in Sims 3 I would send my sims on a "holiday" to China and how fun it was. There were so many things to do, it really never got old or boring. If I tried that in S4 I'd be searching desperately for something to do within half an hour
Yep.
And in the end, the game will eventually close because there is nothing to do
It's so sad cause I feel like my wedding stories could've been so fun! It's just bare minimum with them anymore ):
also Dine Out could've been much better! They're really ignoring things that they've been work on...
Island paradise was my favourite too - it was soooo big, so many lots and possibilities 🥲
nraas mods and lazyduchess smoothness patch really helped me with the sims 3 freezes , with a couple of mods it really works better for me than sims 4
did you know how to fix lagging in the Sims 3?and i Uninstall Sims 3 because of that anyone have a solution 😔
They are being ripped off and not enough people really seem to give a sh#t.
girl just let people be happy find a job
@@hunty2500no one is saying you're not allowed to like the game but people are allowed to say why they don't + call out EA's exploitative behavior... some sims 4 players are seriously not beating the "can't take criticism" allegations
I don't agree with everyone else. I don't think you are overly negative. I think your realistic and one of the few Sims RUclipsrs who actually calls them out. The Sims 4 is awful. It doesn't even feel like a Sims game. The whole game is an afterthought, and it's exhausting.
Satch, your laugh and funny commentary always make me happy! You're genuine, and we love watching you for that.
4 is really for builders and i hope they get it together cause i love the sims so much
I think if Lifebyyou can update their character model and stylized it to something more catoonish than I think it will be the better Sims game by far
I don't see why it needs to be more cartoonish. Just polish their graphics to be better.
recently, after being a mainly sims 4 player with reshade and a 25 gb mods folder for years, i got the random inspiration to fix up the sims 3 and play it, actually play it, not just opening it up for nostalgia every few months. and oh my god. even a few hours in i was compltely hooked and like fell in love with it all over again. i played it straight for the next week after that. so much fun, and the game always knows what to throw at you to surpise you and make you love it even more. But it also made me sad, to realise how hollow and shallow ts4 is in comparison. even now, i booted up ts4 for the first time in around a week and a bit just to maybe try and play some of my nsb legacy. but as soon as i loaded in i felt so flat. like there was nothing to do. i feel like ts4 is transparent most of the time, like something pretty looking that you can so easily see through for the cash grabby and originality lacking mess that it is
Honestly if Satch had enough patience to play the entirety of World Adventures I would happily watch every video.
It says a lot when you find yourself wanting to go back to Ts3 so often! Some games are timeless
You’re not Negative! Sims would never improve if no one pointed out its faults, and play how you like!
I love you drag sims 4 there are not many people who do that openly and unapologetically, you are precious. Keep doing what you're doing 👑
The ones I do have I’m happy with (aside from dine out 😂 thank goodness for mods)
Edit to add: I wouldn’t want you to play something your not having any fun playing, that’s not enjoyable. I love your mod reviews and cas cc reviews, do what is enjoyable for you!
Is Dine Out really that bad? 😮 I really want it for my Family restaurant story
I got My Wedding Stories on sale, with a gift card simply for the building assets because I am a builder.. It is sad that the game play is so bad!
@@LourdesCabrera62 I probably will eventually for that same reason
I said the same about the Sim save =)
Plus you can easily download hundreds of lots.
I get that he has to make content but he just shows bad faith here, just play something else honestly
I absolutely love how you just completely lay out our true addictions. Doesn’t matter how bad it is, we have to have it. I love it. And your laugh. I laugh every time you laugh. Positive vibes 🎉🪬💕
honestly this is why i use the unlocker and don’t feel bad about it bc you need the dlcs for it to be anywhere near decent, but even then taking the cost out of the equation, the amount of space you need for all the packs and mods to make the game playable you practically need a gaming computer to play it 😵💫
I keep buying packs hoping the Sims 4 will feel less hollow. It doesn’t. Back to Stardew for me.
Buying packs just to feel something 😂😢 I feel you
I feel like I have to make my games so ridiculously complicated in order to enjoy playings Sims 4.
That's why I stick by Sims 2 and Sims 3. The amount of content those games had is simply not comparable when you put them beside Sims 4.
I’m just saying give us broke people SOMETHING
thanks for coming to my rant I’m ending it here cause no one’s reading something this long anyway
So true. Only way I’d be able to even look at pure base game play is with mods and a lot of cc. Otherwise, no. It sucks. So bad.
I watch your videos because you are so REAL and there’s no BS. I love the honesty. Love you, Satch! Shake the haters off!
Omg that makes so much sense! I loved sims since sims 1 and knew something felt off with sims 4. It does take forever to get into the actual game!
The thing with needing to go through CAS and buy a property to start a save file is a major flaw in the game!!! Why have pre-made families if you have to jump through hoops to play them? There is no game mechanic that allows you to play a pre-made family on a fresh save like wtf is that?!?
satch, you are one of my fave british youtubers. never change!!! and your american accent had me weaaaaaakkkk 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Woke up in a tent at a music festival in some mountainous area in China at 7:00 and I had a feeling of excitement just seeing a new video by Satch. 😅
I really was enjoying myself back then, it’s just not the same anymore…
💔
*Edit* : I’ve heard really good things abt sims 3, I’m gonna give that a go.
It also didn't help that I didn't have much time for playing it now, so I actually skipped few packs and now when I decided to get them, I kinda feel lost cause there's suddenly so many options, but none of them enriches the core gameplay to me.
i love your reviews because you are honest!! i do not think that you are negative just honest so please continue to be you!!!
I like spending hours on my sims lol
I put on my headphones and I play some lo-fi beats and it makes me feel at peace
You’re absolutely right on everything you just said 😕 I hate how shallow everything feels and I want to be excited, but it’s hard. I love your mod reviews btw!
Thank you for your honesty, smiles & laughter! I appreciate it!
The Sims 4 is literally that one line from NF's song "Stress". "It's like I hate it but I love it at the same time
Never thought I’d see someone reference that song 🎧 it’s such a great song I love it
@@idonthaveaname5473 NF is amazing. My favorite song by him is "Let Me Go"
Sims 4 is not made to be played for fun. It is made to enjoy buying packs. 💸💰
I actually, like the way you review Sims 4 packs.
It's not negative or positive .just fair.
I think Sims 4 could be great but I never leave my home lot because it's a loading screen just to visit my neighbours so I don't buy many packs for it then I feel I'm missing out
I just found your channel and I'm binge watching. I love your dry wit and "complaining" lol You are hilarious :)
Same here😊
I really needed to hear this - very validating Satch and it's so true. TS2 was my absolute favourite game, probably of all time. TS4 could never 😢
I agree with you!
Nah I love your honesty, not negative at all. Though you are right, I grew up in the UK and complaining becomes the way you express yourself tbh 😂😂
I been playing the sims since sims 2, 3, and had uninstalled sims 4 back in 2020. Too many bugs that haven't been fixed like they just dropped it.
Is exactly why I'm here watching 🤣
Oh, I keep getting all these brilliant ideas, and get them rolling, then the next day don't care anymore.
The perfect game would be Sims 2 Erie vibe/gameplay with sims 3 expansion/bigger explorer / with online multiplayer
Me rn but be careful cause it will start to lag and make the game extremely buggy 😭
