    If you like this video and find it helpful I would like to start a buisness in window tint and windshield replacement, I have a degree in collision and about to graduate auto mechanic in Dec 2023, also have a certified in window tint and windshield replacement, it’s hard to find a small buisness loan to finance my goal I heard that gofundme might help. Thank you.

      Matthew Blackwell I agree on the budget, oil change is cheaper than transmission fluid change don’t make any sense why it’s that expensive.

    When checking the level, waiting for flow out of the level plug, the engine has to be running and the temperature of the transmission fluid has to be 122-140 DegF. At least that is what it is for the Sonata.

    You have to turn the car on and let it reach operating temperature, then open the overfill plug to let excess out while transmission fluid is hot.

  • @village_ram
    @village_ram Год назад +1

    That new oil added was cold. When heated and expanded, it will be an overfill situation. I think i would get a dipstick and use it to get the transmission fluid level when hot after driving. Mark the level on the dipstick permanently by scraping with a file (send dipstick down that same fill port) . At least I will know the hot fluid level. After drain and refill, I can always add fluid when transmission is hot to the level on the dipstick or remove fluid using a syringe and tube through the fill hole. You can also weigh the exact amount of fluid drained then weigh the exact amount to be added back since temperature affects both volume and density but not weight. I haven't tried these methods but i think it will be somewhat accurate without using a scan tool and relying on the vent plug/ level valve/knot.

    Make sure before you remove the upper plug that you use pressurized air to blow away dust and dirt around the plug. You don’t want krud falling into the hole.

    Check the fluid when the car is running (gear in park) and temperature of ATF is between 120 - 140 Deg F. Open the check plug, ATF should come out in a small stream. Thats when you know it is at the right level.
    What you did is not right. You are definitely low in transmission fluid.

    My suggestion. Go buy some plastic retainer pins. Careful on that nut it's plastic and uses a 3/8 connector to remove. Hyundai wants $300 I paid a mechanic shop $80. Problem is they broke a few of the retainer pins because they had to remove the plastic splash shield to get to the drain bolt. Good video brother.

      walmart has Volvoline Maxlife 1 gallon, so when you pour it in you will notice a stream coming out, I found out that I need to do another step, one comment said to put the plug back on, than start the car while in park, while the engine is warm up take the plug back out, if the fluid let out a small stream of oil you know that your good and its at the correct fluid. So how I did it was not correct, but I was learning, and at least I save 350 dollars. it only cost me 20 dollars to do it myself.

    • @krstoner53

      Mine took 1 gallon exactly. I checked level before draining and there was a small stream coming out. I measured all that I drained into an extra 5 qt. empty oil jug. I did run into a problem on refill. The new oil was coming out through the side “level” plug instead of going to bottom of pan. Had to reinstall side plug and just fill slow, really slow like a trickle the size of 2/16” or 3mm to allow fluid to bleed air. It took probably 20 minutes to fill this way which was a pain. BTW car was level. Surely there is a better way than this.

      This is what I found out online....If you don't change your transmission fluid frequently, the dirty fluid will not serve as an effective lubricant and it won't disperse heat well. This will cause wear and tear on the clutches and other parts of your transmission.
