@@jacksonbear1 Everything storywise is better in the OG. They completely ruined it. They took out crucial parts of the storyline and added some stuff that doesn't fit, especially when Paulie, Sam or Sallieri do something completely out of their character. What a botched job...

The best thing about killing Tommy in Mafia 2 and not playing or watching Mafia 1 videos is that you felt exactly as Vito would... not knowing who this guy was, just another job for you to do.

I miss them a lot because it reminds me of when I started playing video games, but I feel that a remake of this game would be fantastic, because New Gen can handle so much stuff, and they could add many things, that could make this game even better.. Me. I see a lot of people hate the remake because it dumbed down certain things in the game but the remake has far superior voice acting and the characters are much better in the remake

Mafia 1 ending: Tommy is surprised and worried when Joe pulls out a gun, it's like he didn't knew what's coming after all his killing.
Mafia Definitive Edition ending: Tommy isn't surprised at all, and he took it like a man because he didn't want to make his family live in a constant fear.
The most realistic ending to a game ever. No happy ending bullshit at all, no saving him at the last moment, just pure hardlooking truth of the life of a mob man. The only escape to a mafia life is DEATH.

The thing we learn from this game: mafia is fun as a movie or game, but in real life it's brutal as hell. There are no good guys in mafia, everyone has more or less blood in their hands. And the 2 most likely destinies of a mafia man are getting murdered, or spending your life in prison

Exactly, people don't remember how games looked when they saying Mafia looks bad. Mafia looks even better than younger San Andreas. And remember for example Morrowind also from 2002 - it looked terrible for 2002 game. But open world games had always worse graphics than simple FPS games, that's logical.

And I also think when game is well made with good graphics for its day, then it feels like a good old wine :) I even think that games like Prince of Persia 89' and Quest for Glory 4 from 1994 are good looking games and I still consider Mafia's graphics amazing.

Wow, I knew that cops went to paulie's apartment, but never actually saw the detective go in the room and inspect Paulie's body. I like how they added that, the game is more detailed than it seems. It's awesome.
What makes the Mafia stories amazing is that they remind you that the mafia are still the bad guys. That even the "rats" we're supposed to hate still had their reasons for doing what they did.
Idk but I still play them and there amazing.

I love playing the hd remake especially for its story I have never played the original but I’ve seen videos of it but in the intro of the remake when the game is about to start you can see that nostalgia in the intro with the same music and same opening as the original but looks even more better then the original
You got it, Sam treason is even worse in the remake because he doesn't act like an asshole.
The best thing about this mission is that Tommy finishes Sam after he says: “ Friendship ain’t worth shit”.
I think this game is just special just because of that friendship and betrayal that happens in the end. So emotional game I remember 5 yo me finishing the game and crying. This game got me like no other.

Paulie's death was genuinely one of the hardest hitting moments in my gaming life. I hope the remastered version keeps it's charm, and I would love to get the original voice actors involved! What a game!!!
They have learned their lessons. Both producer and the publisher of Mafia 3. I believe we're getting a great remake.

I admire how well this entire trilogy was put together. This was a masterpiece

Well, that's because Vavra was not working with them at that time. He left during the production of mafia 2 and even that shows.

2K wasn't in charge of developing Mafia 3, Hangar 13 was and they used the engine 2K developed, most of it wasn't in English. What turned out in the end was quite shit.

really enjoyed this walk through, I'm subscribing.
Here we can clearly see, how you have to be careful not to run into a bunch of guys like a maniac. (He's checking the corners and everything.) But in Mafia III, you have Eagle Vision - what the fuck? Do game developers really think that gamers are so weak, helpless and stupid? I'm just disappointed.
At least you can totally ignore the character that gives it, I apologize I forgot her name. I want to play the original but sadly there is no backwards compatibility and I don't have a gaming pc.

this video just gave me a good nostalgia trip. those days when I stay up late just to finish missions, specially the one in the country side with Paulie, damn I love that mission so much. almost 15 years have passed and I still have the cd of this game
Mafia 3 looks like anything but mafia... but theres still hope. I love this series so i think i will love mafia 3 even if it has a few short comings. This series never fails at writing amazing stories.

Before the mission you could go back to the gun seller with new dialogue and take all the weapons you need. And also there's a medic kit before the finalstairs.

When Mafia came out and I completed it, there was a thought of maybe the story had ended... Then playing Mafia II, getting to that one mission and suddenly it all comes back in that nostalgic hit of emotions. I've just finished my replay of Mafia II, which I'm going to be seeing if Mafia III brings anything other than everyone thinking it's no good... Hopefully, being this invested I'll play it anyway. 😎
for us who played this game growing up we have such a strong connection to this game, whoever has finished this game does, so it's both scary and exciting to know there's going to be a Remake.
I just wish 2k czech was working on it cuz those guys knew how to make a masterpiece.
I've been playing this game since I was a 6 years old kid, once or twice in a year. Mafia 2 didn't give the same feeling that this game gave.
@@OXY187 yeah, Mafia 2 is pretty well-rounded and fun and the gameplay is awesome but Mafia 1 was completely ahead of its time and pushed the boundaries, the soundtracks and licensed music are all amazing, the realism, storyline and almost everything was next level for when it came out.

The time I had just finished college, life was so much fun then .... no work stress, no committed relationships, no GF or ex-GF, no ex-wife, just college, papers, pc games, buddies, beer and when I got lucky, some action. Sweet times, good times................

Coming to this after completing the remake, I've got to say the original definitely had a better vibe and a better narrative. It's also nice to hear this with the original soundtrack since the last time I watched a walk through of this game it had no music in the videos. I've really got to play this one day 😂
This one had better music, tommy had a better almost philosophical-like dialogue and also sam had a better dialogue and music when he got shot, remake just had a better graphic IMO, this one is OG
yeah, like the guy above me said this one has a much better Orchestral music made by a great composer, also the licensed music is better although the remake has good songs on the radio as well but their soundtracks are very generic to be honest, I thought the soundtracks in the original give such a heavy mafioso vibe.
of course the Remake is good for people that just want to play a game and have fun
but the Original is better if you look at it like you'd look at art, it's more artistic and a Masterpiece.

This game's storyline is so realistic and truly like a movie. I loved it a lot when I was around 13-14 years old. Truly gem. Only sad thing was that it's story was too short(for me). Hope they release a remastered version of this game.
Story includes Tommy as main character who didn't intend to become criminal but situation forced him to do so(when he helped Sam and Pauli at start of game). Tommy's gang becomes more powerful day by day. But too much greedy bought end to them when Saleri told Tommy and Pauli to bring packs of expensive cigarettes whereas actually those cigarettes boxes contained precious diamonds in it. Tommy and Pauli came to know about this that Saleri is cheating them. The gang's unity ends. Pauli is killed. Sam also killed(by Tommy). Saleri wents to prison. And at the end Tommy is also killed by Vito and Joey(main characters of Mafia 2). Truly awesome game. Miss those days when storyline mattered more than graphics ❤️❤️. The ending is sad but so realistic regarding life of gangsters

For some reason original looks more natural comparing to remake and also in original Tommy talks about friendship, life and etc in the end. In defenitive Tommy just talks about family and trying make himself too pathos like all the way through the game and doesn't making sense to me clearly like in original.
This game has the most quotable quotes in any games ever, I think the intermezzo part is very underrated.

As I think it will definitely be a downgrade from previous installments, I'm still excited since it just looks like a fun game and will hopefully have some more lore from the second such as what happened to Joe and how did Vito end up where he is.

22:30 I have played the game through like 100 times and never understood why he got blasted at the end but this dialogue explained a lot. I probably never really listened b/c I was so young.

It's one of those situations where if someone comes to you and says your old name there's no sense in fighting they know who you are and your time is up.

I find it interesting how they translated the final bit in the remake Tommy looks accepting, in these he looks scared and overall the message is different but ultimately I prefer this one
