We in the UK have no real idea of gun ownership on the scale the Americans have. We have always had strict laws governing gun ownership but even then we have had gun related deaths.
The Americans have basically always had guns, their constitution has the 2nd Amendment, guaranteeing the right to bear arms. I don’t think it’s possible in America to deny guns to the criminal element so any gun ban only affects the law abiding. Two different countries. Two different gun cultures.
Right on.
I don't think you've researched this topic or know what your talking about. the second amendment was never meant to give individual rights to own guns. The corrupt lobby, a right wing Supreme Court and the NRA constantly push, pay off and promote anti gun legislation and propaganda that pushes the idea that gun laws and bans don't work. When the assault weapon ban was in effect for 10 years, mass shootings went way down and then rose back up when it was lifted. This proves gun bans DO work but the Republicans and the Supreme Court refuse to implement anoth3r federal ban. Other countries with mental health issues don't have mass shootings daily due to their absent gun culture and strict legisaltions. The UK may have a few gun related deaths but nowhere near the level in the United States. It's asinine and ignorant to say to never have bans or even gun laws because the criminals will still get the weapons.
We say the Germans love their cars, the Americans can go on about all this BS about protecting their "family"...the main reason is , they love their guns.

The next group is the so-called "FLAWED" (or "Deficient") democratic countries with Israel at no.35 ending with Liberia which is at the end of this list at no.81. The USA is amongst this group. It is placed at no.1. (The next group would be the "Hybrid" democracies starting with Kenya) So all-in-all, the USA proudly takes place no. 36 in these 2 groups.
You will find other tables (CNBC, Politics Stack Exchange, The Guardian, Vanderbilt University, Harvard Kennedy School etc etc) which differ, but they all have one thing in common. The UK is placed approx. no.18 as a "FULL" democracy, The USA is placed at approx. no.30 as a "FLAWED" democracy.
Look up the differences between ""full" (or "working") and "flawed" (or "deficient") and why this is so.
The USA...land of the Free.
I suggest Americans who think this is all BS, open your eyes and inform yourselves.
France has higher homicide rates than the UK. Germany has less than both of them. But I wouldn't like to live in some districts of London or Glasgow, Paris or Marseilles, Frankfurt or Berlin. 32k gun deaths, with context or otherwise, is too much.
Fun fact for you, the top 48 killers for the United States are all food and health related deaths. Which just to number 48, is over 40 million deaths. Number 47 is people falling, with 200 thousand people dying from falling. Number 50 is people dying in motor vehicle accidents at 190 thousand. And then finally, number 52 is gun related deaths including suicides with 180 thousand recorded deaths. Then the entire rest of the list is medically related and food related. From 52 all the way to 100. All but 3 of the top 100 killers in our country are caused by poor health and poor food. Should it be illegal to be fat and unhealthy?

I feel the need to clarify a few of his points, while yes all of his points verged on absolute nonsense, these are specifically bias wording or just
1. “Aimed rounds” and “firing rounds” are different. Most mass shooters don’t care about aim nor long term damage to their gun. The Firing Rate for an AR-15 actually maxes out at 2 rounds per second, meaning they can finish off a 30 round magazine in 15 seconds, and depending on reloading time, 100-120 rounds per minute . The entire purpose of using a gun like the AR-15 to barrage the crowd with bullets without the inconvenience of needing to aim.
2. When compared to other semi-automatic guns like hunting rifles, the bullets used in AR-15 cause significantly more damage to surrounding organs/tissue, leaving victims with a significantly higher chance of death.
3. I recognize it’s been a few years but wowee is he wrong. Gunshot wounds have been the leading cause in school age children and teen deaths in the US every year since 2020, coming in above car accidents, overdoses, anaphylaxis, cancers, starvation, etc.
4. The number he did provide in regards to deaths was purposefully misleading, sneaking in the modifier “accidental” when talking about the number of children killed. In reality, accidental firearm deaths only account for 4% of gun related deaths in children in 2021.

The UK doesn’t need guns to take down a mass shooter because almost nobody has guns. Most criminals don’t use them because access isn’t as free as in the US. Hence no guns needed.
The problem of the US is that they think they need guns to protect themselves. But by using guns to do that every unstable or evil person can have a gun, too.
You see the issue here?

Any modern semi automatic shotgun can do it he’s obviously not talking about your grandpas pump
Semiautomatic shotguns can fire as fast as one can pull the trigger, yes. However, high capacity magazines for such shotguns do not exist as far as I’m aware. Most aren’t even box magazine fed but have an internal tube magazine that can only fit a finite amount of shells. Five or six at most. Maybe some can fit more, idk. So, yes, you can say rate of fire is whatever, but it’s not realistically achievable because of loading/reloading constraints.

Leonardo DaVinci invented the concept of a machine gun 30-round guns have existed since the 1600s it says nothing about hunting in our Second Amendment it does say shall not be infringed all male US citizens between the age 17 and 45 are automatically part of the unorganized militia and when it comes to armed teachers 10 year olds can pass hunter safety if you're not responsible enough to handle a gun I don't want you teaching my children an AR-15 is considered too weak for deer by many hunters and when it comes to European opinions we rebelled against a European country
You have made a good argument I will now press like.
@@keonyang3332 Thanks
i am so glad i live in the uk
@@Heneling Good for you, you can stay there.
@@Heneling Your Kingdom was the one we rebelled against. So your opinion means very little to me.
You can jump and down, americans simply love guns and they are not prepared to part with them.
I wish they had a more competent American debating this. Ugh.
What we don't need is a ban on firearms. What we DO need is greater restrictions on the manufacturing, distribution, and availability of firearms. What ISN'T being talked about here is the black market. If guns are outlawed, then only the outlaws have guns. That's not a place where we want to be. And while this might not be a big issue in most other countries, in a country where there are as many guns as there are in America, it would be a huge issue. For other reasons, too. But a ban just would flat out not work here. More restrictions, if done properly, would.
Unfortunately, many of the most popular handguns come from Italy, Austria and Germany. Beretta, Glock, and Walther.
Firearms are already heavily restricted here in the US. It's mental health that's the problem. Ppl need to stop blaming inanimate objects and put the blame on the ppl that do these insane acts of violence. It's not the firearms or us law abiding citizen's fault that some kid got bullied at school.
How about simple background checks? How about firearm safety regulations? How about firearm safety training? Mental health checks?
Also, can someone please explain to me why anyone would need a semi-automatic, rapid-fire gun? If you need that many bullets, even to hunt, you're pretty crap at shooting a gun

@@pharaohatem5832lmfao so your saying the people with mental problems should be able to buy a weapon like that
What planet is that gay on. America will never learn.
The Brits still have their little feelings hurt because a group of Armed Hillbillies kicked their butts in 1776.
Or
The most deaths by firearms in the USA are Democrat states with the toughest gun laws
Northeastern states with strong laws end up victims of the infamous “iron pipeline,” the route traffickers use to bring guns up from southeastern states with weak laws. The evidence tells a simple story about porous borders: Out of all guns showing up at crime scenes after crossing state lines, four out of five come from states that lack good background check laws.
Notable strong law states like Illinois and Maryland remain plagued with high gun violence in their biggest cities-in large part because they’re targeted by traffickers. Indeed an outsized share of likely trafficked crime guns recovered in Illinois begin their journey in states with weak laws. And Virginia, which had weak gun purchase laws until 2020, has long been the top supplier of crime guns into Maryland. At the other end of the scale, states like New Hampshire, Vermont, and Rhode Island have unusually low gun death rates compared with their somewhat weaker policies, in part because they are buffered by robust laws among other states in the region.
No one give a shit were in the US people get shot ... it need to stop ,, everywere ..

Americans:🤓
Yup and proud. Want my guns? come taken em
This goes back to 1776. Brits will always envy American's freedom. Peter Ustinov, a British (of Russian background) said on AMERICAN national TV. "Yes, you have right to defend yourself - with a musket. That's how it was intended to be". 1) Not his Constitution, he's only British Subject with hardly any rights. 2) He was using TELEVISION, not goose quill, parchment and ink - “as it was intended to be”. 3) He forgot his King ended in the nuthouse in 1776.
Not really. A lot of us in Europe don’t consider owning a gun a “right”
@@shrekxrohankishibe Indeed, lot of people feel good to be just subjects with no rights. And they do as they are told, by liberal media.
@@1stsampan nope. We genuinely don’t care about guns. In fact, most of us are quite uncomfortable in areas with guns
@@shrekxrohankishibe We are just the opposite, we feel uncomfortable in areas with no guns. Remind us all those liberal "Gun Free Zones" where people die, like say WTC on 9/11. You said: "lot of us in Europe don’t consider owning a gun a “right”" Actually lot of us in Europe do. I came from European country that has the longest tradition of commoners owning and carrying guns, over 600 years, that's longer than any country on the planet.

Piers should stay out of American politics.
He has more sense than American politicians though.
American politics are pretty dumb tbh, not all the law and etc but most of it are dumb
To me, the most important question for this man is: Approximately how many people would have died if the shooter only had a handgun? Ban the AR-15. Severe penalties for keeping or carrying. It will take time, but it will have an impact on these kinds of events. I don't think it's been tested in the Supreme Court, but we did have an assault weapons ban in the '90s. It's been done and should be tried again, although I realize the politics are a lot different now.
More then the AR-15, handguns a more portable and are easier to conceal, look up the numbers CDC should have it. The Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that it is legal for us to own semiautomatic firearms, don't start there as an argument. The "Assault Weapons Ban" merely ban cosmetics nothing else, the term "Assault Weapon" is just a political term too, no one calls it that.
@@keonyang3332 your point is irrelevant because even if they are easy to conceal clearly your security doesnt work as if the terrorist can carry 2 ar 15's through security then 2 handguns would be easy for them
@@Heneling Now then, where were your numbers from? Why ban a sporting rifle, most of the "mass shootings" (meaning that 3 or more get injured or killed from a person using a gun) are done by handguns and why not also blame the TSA (or any other airport security agency) then, weren't they the ones that failed to detect a firearm. Dumb argument tbh.
@@keonyang3332 well if someone can smuggle 2 AR 15’s past any security force then yes you quite obviously have a problem
@@Heneling then why blame the damn gun?
