For sure! Guatemala has so much amazing natural beauty. Both the volcano and Semuc Champey were tough to get to for different reasons, but as you say they were very well worth it!
You're welcome Melissa, thanks for watching! Yes Guatemala is such an awesome country to visit. If you liked the look of Guatemala then I think you would also love Nicaragua! The one benefit of Nicaragua over Guatemala is that travelling around doesn't take as long and is not as bumpy and winding as that in the mountainous areas of Guatemala.
Yes definitely a bucket list item for anyone with a sense of adventure! It helps to have a decent level of fitness too. We thought we were pretty fit until we attempted this! Thanks for watching Shan!
Awesome! Yes you definitely need some fitness to get up there, it nearly killed us! The altitude adds another level of difficulty, but if you stay in Antigua for a couple of days beforehand then you should be fine. This is a bucket list adventure for sure!
Thank you for watching, we are glad you enjoyed our video. Yes we count ourselves very lucky, especially as we got to visit Guatemala just before covid.
We completely agree with you. Acatenango was jointly the toughest and most rewarding activity we had experienced in our lives. If we had our time over again, we would have spent more time in Lake Atitlán, it was beautiful.
The more I see videos, the more I wanna go, I WILL GO!! When is a good time to go and how many days do you recommend? Is 10 days good enough to do these activities? Thank you 😊. Nice blog
The best time of year is from late December through March, just before the wet season starts. We were there for 2 weeks and got a good taste of the country during that time. You could easily spend a month there though and our regret was only spending 3 days in Lake Atitlan. You could easily spend more than a week hopping across the villages there, it is so beautiful! Thanks for watching Baby Stork!
Thanks for watching Gordon. Guatemala is amazing and the Acatenango hike was one of the most amazing experiences we have had in our lives. It was also the toughest hike we had experienced too!
Great video! ty for the tips. I think you missed Hobbitenango/. Just to let you know that there is a lot to see in Guatemala City as well. There you can visit the City of Cayala, 4 Grados Norte, Zona Viva, and a lot of other little hidden gems.
We did miss Hobbitenango, sounds like fun! Thanks for all of your suggestions. We only spent 2 weeks in Guatemala and clearly there is so much more to explore in this beautiful country!
@@BucketListTravellers Yes, I understand. I will be there in October, but only for six days and I know I won't have time to visit a lot of the cool places that you guys visited. Loved your video!
It certainly was! It erupted every 20 minutes or so. Our guides were saying that it gets more active at night. It didn't disappoint with spectacular displays lighting up the night sky!
You didn’t mention if your driving? Lockdowns? Or God Forbid? 2 weeks of quarantine? Just joking? OK I accept your silence. I live their in Managua a couple of months. Very nice.
Hi, We filmed this Guatemala video in early February, before everything went crazy, so unfortunately we aren't in a position to comment about these things for Guatemala. You mention Managua, however that is the capital of Nicaragua. We can certainly comment on Nicaragua as we have been living there throughout the pandemic. No lockdowns, we only drive to places and you can only come and go to the country via the airport. There are no 2 weeks of quarantine, only negative tests to come in and leave the country (or so we hear). Hope this helps!

The volcano hike looked amazing! The colours of semuc champey looked so beautiful and vivid...worth the effort to get there I'm sure.

I'm going to need to start training now to be able to make that volcano hike, but wow, stunning! I added that to my bucket list just now.

For me the top 2 essential things to do are the Acatenango hike and visit Lake Atitlán, these places are absolutely unique
