Supercars a lot of the time can be police magnets. However this time around this was for a pretty unjust reason. With the McLaren 600LT having a very specific way to keep its turbo chargers spooled, it can sometimes cause flames or more exhaust sound. Without knowing this McLaren 600LT's "special feature" the police were not too fond of it. Thankfully after the ticket was issued we were able to move on and complete the review of this car! It's an absolute animal of a machine and I couldn't be more thankful to drive it. Huge thanks to Michael the owner of this car for trusting me with this beast.

I don't think that is fair. The "average person" has no clue about this stuff. Should the police be more aware of this kind of thing, yes (in my opinion). But to assume that this is standard knowledge is not fair. He should have listened when the reason was explained to him, but to claim that this is why the average person hates cops is a bit overboard. Happy to discuss the point, but all we want to do is enjoy nice cars and if we can educate people on them then we all win, right?

Facts man, and it drives me nuts cuz im a police dispatcher and work with a lot of really cool guys who do really good work, but also work with a lot of noodlebobs too that just make things harder for people than it needs to be. Don't get me started about motorcycles.
@ORGTE ah sorry I wasn't just applying it to cars but in general. Almost everyone has a least one story of an unnecessary interaction with the police. But I'm also very no laws but the bare minimum should be created or enforced.

"law-abiding citizen" without a driver's license on him? I'm pretty sure the "law" requires every person operating a motor vehicle to have a valid driver's license on said person. Nothing to do with "bad timing". If you're a car reviewer and jumping from one car to the next, you should have your license with you (you know, like in a wallet) at all times. I'm also not sure he was "law-abiding" within the speed limit during those short pulls 6:24 I won't argue or disagree with any other comments regarding the cop and his ignorance though.

I got pulled over because the temporary tag (which was placed on the rear window of the vehicle by the manufacturer) was blocking vision 😂
I got a ticket for not yielding to a Domino's delivery driver running a red light. They hit my car and it was in a shop waiting for two doors from Germany for 2 months. Stressed over the ticket for a month and a half until my court date and then the officer just didn't show up lol

Drove a 570s for awhile and it was hands down the most fun car I've ever driven.
Rode in one before. Literally a rocket ship. Very beautiful in person.

McLarens are dope just think their quality/reliability has went down hill a bit but customer service is always good.
The fact that this had to go to court shows the whole world why US traffic control is bonkers.
Semi's going 3 lanes on the highway 5 under the speed limit? Not pulled over (even with stay right laws)
Drivers driving with hazard lights on for no reason? Not pulled over
Not knowing how to 4 way stop / right of way? Not pulled over
Brake checking? Not pulled over
Missing brake lights, tail lights, head lights, or none of them working causing a crash? Not pulled over
Deliberately not changing brakes or tires causing a crash? Not pulled over or ticketed
These are all things I have seen or had done to me.
Yet I got pulled over a month ago for literally "accelerating while passing" I still have the ticket.
I passed a guy doing 10 under the limit, and I sped up to the speed limit and passed him (he was in the left lane of course). Instantly pulled over and told you are not allowed to speed up while passing.
How the fk would it be pissi le to pass anyone, if ya don't increase your speed?
You’re instructed in driver’s ed to accelerate by the other car while passing because it’s safer to quickly get by the other car vs. driving side by side with them for an extended period of time. You should be able to win that one

And that's what happens when you drive a nice car and ppl don't get it. It didn't sound like the cop was trying to be mean. He has probably seen a bunch of illegal modifications that would do things that look the same and if you dont know what decel fuel cut is I can see the confusion. Happy it got dismissed and I would love to have seen that video played in court😂

McClarens are definitely one of my fav supercars design wise. Engine sound is great too, alwaus prefered EU V8s for sound honestly. Tho my heart is with Japanese cars, English design is awesome, which is why I love Lotus lol. English design with Japanese engines? Hell yes. (Speaking of, should do an Elise or Exige S or something!)
The engine design is Japanese, so it makes sense you like it. Look deep into it and you'll see what I mean

I drive around in my daily (Golf GTI) and never get pulled over. I drive my weekend/day off 911 and get pulled over twice a month. As the max limits here are 110Km/h (not even 70 mph), you're not taxing either car. Problem is at 100Km/h the 911 looks/sounds like it's doing 150 km/h.

My personal favorite McLaren is a 650S, that's what I want to own. My opinion might change once I have one but right now that's the one I want.

why do cops get to pretend to be judge jury and executioner when they have no clue about something?
keep in mind, not everyone knows about exotic car features, this includes cops. my question is, did he "have to" downshift in directly in front of a cop? and did the cop have to fish for a ticket? my opinion, if it harmed no one, than fine. on that note, its best all around for everyone to just behave on the road. go to an empty lot, or a track to play. cheaper, and less chances of errors.
cops love pulling over expensive cars, it gives them a massive ego/power trip.

Always fun when you get pulled over in a bone stock car and get tickets for after market parts. If they want to give out ticket's then cops should be fully trained on every single car and what is stock.

Wish there was a way to retaliate against cops that make false claims like that. Cops know that they can get away with petty shit like that with no consequences whatsoever, so they will continue to do so. Should be able to take a percentage out of their pay as a punishment for false claims to make them think before they power trip. The only things that they repsond to first are things that don't matter. If there's a shootout happening, cops will be like "Hold on, I can't be there yet, I first have to pull over some guy making vroom vroom sounds".
All you acually have to prove is that it's registered if it is and it's fully stock it'll get thrown out in court everytime

That's not a happy outcome. The officer learns nothing, the taxpayers paid for a lot of wasted resources, the owner of the car either lost time in court appearance or money sending a lawyer.
