I want Doctor Fate to get some REAL love. Not just a side character like in Black Adam, and most comics today. But a main character, with his own tv miniseries, comic book run, etc. He's got so much potential, and the lore around him is super cool. Plus, he's an absolute powerhouse who can rival Doctor Strange in Marvel. I've always loved Fate as a character because I love magic based characters.

  • @perdomot

Shining Knight's comment in the JLU episode about the "creeping moral decay" really struck a chord with me back then. You can see it in comics all over the place where so called superheroes are nothing more the super human, not much heroism at all. Kingdom Come also touched on this idea and I think its worth exploring as it seems most writers want to write their characters as flawed people rather than those who make the right choices in their actions.

Your boy Laughing Mask was one of The Twelve, which was Marvel's take on what DC did with the All Star Squadron in one sense. I'd love to see you do a video on The Twelve, a twelve issue series from somewhere around 2007 or 2008. Laughing Mask was a huge part of the story, and I enjoyed that series quite a bit. Like the heroes you focused on in this video, The Twelve doesn't get enough love

I liked reading All-Star Squadron comics when I was a kid. If anyone wants some good stories look up some old All-Star Squadron from the 70's and 80's. Really great stories and really great characters. My favorite was probably Steel or Commander Steel as he was sometimes called. His costume looked great and he was a pretty tough fighter. He was similar to Captain America. He was injured in combat and they gave him surgery replacing his bones with steel tubes, adding motors to his muscles, and giving him a tough synthetic skin. His costume was bullet proof and fireproof. That character was great. Doctor Midnight and the original Atom were also cool characters.

Wildcat #1 has never been printed or sold. Has any other hero existed for this long, been in cartoons and live action and all, yet still not had their own series?

Captain Marvel should be #1 on this list. He was the highest selling character in the Golden Age. He inspired Superman, Captain America, and Thor to become who they are today.
Now most people just think of him as the magic man child, second fiddle to Superman the New 52 made him.

I’d love a Jim Hammond Human Torch series set in the golden age. With Professor Horton as this person who’s too smart for his own good, and terrifying to the US government that he works for, the Torch would literally birth superheroes into the marvel universe.
It would be one part Oppenheimer, one part Frankenstein, and one part Superman

I might be alone in this, but it looks like The Guardian might have taken inspiration from the original Blue Beetle; Dan Garrett. An ironic turn of events, since Victor S. Fox started his career in comics by ripping off Superman for his character Wonder Man, and would bite back at DC (Then known as National Publication) after he lost the lawsuit against Wonder Man by pushing for a solo title and a radio show for Blue Beetle in response to National doing so for Superman. Also, he once spat at National's office over the lawsuit (they shared the same building for a time). Plus, he also bragged he was the "King of Comics". And he apparently did so in front of Jack Kirby once.
Fortunately, The Guardian has gotten some love outside of comics. Most notably in Young Justice, where both Jim Harper and Mal Duncan got their time to shine. In the comics, Mal Duncan became The Guardian during the '70s run of the Teen Titans. Before and after he became The Hornblower. An identity that would be recycled for the Teen Titans TV Show, where Mal appeared as "The Herald."
I don't know much about Shining Knight, but I am a fan after seeing him take a beating from Eiling like a Champ in Justice League Unlimited "Patriot Act".
And Vigilante rocks. Speaking of "Patriot Act", he wasn't kiddin' when he said he could have the folks eatin' out of the palm of his hand if he had his geetar. We didn't get to see that in Justice League Unlimited, but Vigilante lived up to his words in Batman: The Brave and The Bold.

Madame Strange was a total badass. The original Wildfire was nicely done. Diana, the Partner of Boomerang was just so competent she outshone him and his sad boomerang gimmick. Liberty Belle started her career by SWIMING THE ENGLISH CHANNEL to escape Nazis...say no more. Kitten, Catmans sidekick was just a kid but she looked pretty buff and held her own when she had to, she also packed a gun sometimes. Fantomah, was just insanely powered and turned into a skull faced buff, blue form that just devastated anyone that crossed her path. The Silver Scorpion was a judo expert that could have been interesting if she would have dumped her detective boss. And last but not least, the original Black Widow. Empowered by Satan, there are few heroes more terrifying than her. Enough for now.
