  • Back in the 50s in response to rampant communism and the rising of the Berlin wall. Soviet Russia developed a new supersoldier program designed to create a being comprised of pure electrical energy with the sole purpose of destroying Captain America. How did it go? You be the judge.

This Electro also makes an apperance in a "What if" story from issue 9 I think. "What if the avengers were formed in the 1950's" where he is enslaved by the Yellow Claw, alongside Skull-face, the Cold Warrior and the Great Video to face off against 3-D man, Marvel boy, Gorilla-man, Venus and the human robot.

Believe ir or not, sometime in the Silver Age of Comics, Superman also had a enemy called Electro. His body glowed bright yellow with bright yellow electricity, and was often seen as a team of Superman Villains, along with Lex Luthor,, Brainiac and other Superman Villains.

Wow , I wonder if 90s animated Spider-man Electro had some roots of being partially based on this one ?
In that show Electro didn't appear until final season , I dunno if he was absent for so long because of licensing reason (Most likely along with Sandman , who never appeared at all)
He is not Maxwell Dylan but does have his costume design.
He's actually a descendant of the Red Skull instead. So the Soviet origin is replaced by a Nazi origin instead.
But even so the Red Skull and Captain America involved in the version too and even the theme of a vault is somehow incorporated too. ( Although it's not Electro breaking into the Vault , it's actually the secret of unlocking the method of becoming Electro that is secret in the vault instead. If I remember that all correctly)
