Greek gods
Pretty sure it's the Greek gods, so like Zeus, Ares, Hades, etc
Actually, Kirby intended and heavily implied the 3rd World were the Norse Gods. The Greek ones are not the Old Gods. This, too, has been established many times over the decades and even canon changes.
The Old Gods were basically the Norse gods, if you look at Kirby's concept art some of the old gods were clearly modelled after Thor and Odin, while the "Big Bad" of the Old Gods was a villain called "Lokee"

Maybe so, but at least in the New 52, the Greek gods were the Old Gods too. I like this explanation for their existence.

Jack Kirby's original idea was when he created Galactus he thought to himself that Galactus was a god and Silver Surfer is the fallen angel. In Kirby's interview on Harlan Ellisen interview documentary video, Kirby then mentioned that after leaving Marvel to DC comics he then wanted to create new characters: the New Gods.
Intresting to learn in this video, i thought Eternals were created before the New Gods. Yet the similarities of these characters from New Gods to Eternals are alot of like, especially Kirby's style.

Really, they're more like the Celestials when you actually examine everything, but most of the time we see them are as avatars before New 52, so, in those instances they really are more like the eternals.

I'm curious. Metron is a New God, but he isn't affiliated with New Genesis or Apokolypse. Where does he come from?
That's the mystery of his character we don't know where he's from. He acts more as a watcher and advisor for both sides. He's really just there to see the whole conflict through.
My favorite New God is probably Scott Free, aka Mister Miracle.
Mister Miracle, Big Barda, Orion and Darkseid are all very interesting characters in their own right.

So the only question left is who is eatch of the New gods and what are they the god of?
The only ones whose roles I'm (fairly) certain about are Orion as the god of war and Darkseid as the god of evil.
They are not actual gods you'd imagine but more like god like beings with all human characteristics elevated to godly level they at evolutionary peak
Unlike the Marvel gods or the - occasionally mentioned - Olympians - the New Gods not really gods in the IRL mythological/spiritual sense.

Jack Kirby’s Fourth World was originally intended to be the rebooted world of Marvel’s Norse Gods after the destruction of Asgard during the Ragnarok event. That’s why I always thought the New Gods esthetically fit Marvel much better than DC. That’s because it was suppose to be apart of The Marvel Universe if Jack Kirby had never had his short falling out with Stan Lee And Marvel Comics. When Kirby came back to Marvel after he set up The Fourth World at DC, luckily he redeemed himself at Marvel by creating The Eternals.
OldSchool OldSchool I agree. On paper the entire concept of The Eternals sounds great but ends up falling a bit flat. The New Gods are much more interesting but I also haven’t read Neil Gaimans run on The Eternals. He’s a pretty great writer so I’m sure his take on The Eternals is interesting.

@@Seasonal-Shadow_4674 I think Jack Kirby’s Eternals holds up extremely well as far as the writing, art, and mythology is concerned. Kirby tried to come up with a streamlined mythology that not only fully explains the origins of the Marvel Universe but also as a way to explain all of our world’s individual cultural mythology, and all of the supernatural creatures that are found within it. He even goes as far as to breakdown and explain certain biblical characters, battles , and events, as well as explaining where supernatural creatures like vampires, werewolves etc, come from. It’s as if he took the Bible, Greek mythology, Roman mythology, Sumerian mythology, and Asian mythology and rolled it all into one.

Looks like eternals getting the first treatment in live action before the new gods. Hopefully, the directors can make them look different enough so that causal audiences can tell the difference and not complain. As we comics fans already knows who's who. 😁

DC/WB are BRAINDEAD for not bringing these ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC CHARACTERS to the big screen! A NEW GODS TRILOGY would be awesome, imagine a company like PIXAR doing a CGI movie of this story. I would love to see them take on such a challenge. Imagine something like the Incredibles but way more HARDCORE, DANGEROUS, and SERIOUS!
It would be totally new territory for PIXAR but I truly believe they could do it! I'd also still like a LIVE ACTION MOVIE as well!
