Love the character as a whole and lore behind him, but his kit looks clunky and at this point I do have Zhong-Dong and Bennett fully built but for them to add a power crept Amber this late into the game is pretty frustrating. It was an easy decision for me to go for Yelan as I didn’t have her and tbh she was the only unit on my account i really wanted. I’m hoping the future Fontaine characters have more to offer in way of kit diversity.
I just got him and he's certainly not powercreeping that much. He's definitely not weak, but, although he has high damage output, his attacks are pretty slow in comparison to Hu Tao and other top tier dpses. So overall he's certainly good, but as good as someone like Ayato and Ganyu, nothing more, so there's really no power creeping (and for his pneuma ability, it's not that useful, because it deals close to know damage and doesn't work half the time. You could use hydro traveler as a support and wouldn't need Lyney at all.) As for the gameplay, as someone who has never liked Ganyu's playstyle, while liking Tighnari's, I think Lyney's gameplay doesn't feel clunky at all to me, even without a shield. My team for him is Lyney - Kazuha - Xiangling - Bennett (Lynette replacing Kazuha sometimes for fun and easier enemies). He can get interrupted a lot, just like Ganyu, but his Grin-Malkin Hat also kind of work as a taunt, so it might help too. But after having personally waited for him for almost 3 years with my primogems, I'm glad we're finally getting him and that he isn't bad at all, both gameplay-wise and damage-wise. I might be biased though, because even if he sucked, I would have mained him anyways.
I actually enjoy playing Lyney. He can deal good single target and Aoe dmg. but if you're purely looking for dmg there are better options than Lyney. So don't pull unless you really enjoy his design. But If you do he's more than capable of being a good dps. although this abyss doesn’t favour him much lol
Jesus, the power creep with this character is insane. Is his play style even enjoyable?
yes and no. if u have zhongli or a good bennett they yes. Kazuha and zhongli basically make the team tho. he would did in 2 seconds without them
