    This is an excellent video. This guy showed step by step exactly what he was doing and what you should do. There are so many videos out there that do not show you exactly what they are touching and doing. This guy helped me tremendously. I have never changed brakes before. I watched this video and did it myself and saved myself. $300 this guy definitely gets a thumbs up. Great video!

    You should use the new brake pad shims, they usually come with the sets of pads these days. Don't even bother cleaning the pad shims if you got the new ones with the pads!

    I wanted to see this done before i started, it will be my first pad replacement for KIA Sorento. I always used to take the fluid cap off beforehand, is that unnecessary, now or was it never necessary? Just wondering. Thank you

    • @RBTheMechanic
      @RBTheMechanic  4 месяца назад

    Before you compress the caliper piston take a clean turkey baster and remove some brake fluid from the master cylinder, when you are finished, refill it with fresh brake fluid.

    I read and was told never to compress the piston cause it will push fluid back into and over flow master cylinder

      @RBTheMechanic  4 года назад +1

      No not for brake changes if your replacing hydraulic component such as caliper master cylinder brake lines then you do need to bleed the brakes

  • @mikejmardis
    @mikejmardis 4 года назад +4

    Not all break sets come with them, but it’s preferable to replace the brake hardware. Bro, you pad slap without cutting rotors? You should never have to modify the hardware. You either have the wrong parts or you didn’t properly replace/clean the hardware. You need to grease all metal to metal contact points. Wrong choice of grease for the slides. I would love to know what you charge for that job.

    • @RBTheMechanic

      Mike Mardis customer bring me and tell me to do the job as they wanted no if and or but’s ... what can I do?

    • @mikejmardis
      @mikejmardis 4 года назад +1

      RB The Mechanic I don’t doubt it’s shop policy. I heard someone grinding in the background. I couldn’t face myself turning out work like that though.
      What do you guys charge for a pad slap.

    • @RBTheMechanic
      @RBTheMechanic  4 года назад +3

      Mike Mardis sorry bro it seems like ur not happy but I can’t do anything when customer bring part that dosent fit properly it is correct but when u buy cheap pads they need to be grinded on the edges to make them fit smoothely we did what customer asked and he refused to pay for shop meterial the syn greas is not cheap it’s not much either but if he refuse to pay couple of dollars for food service we did recommend us buying parts so it’s as it is we did made it fit smoothely not hammered it in force it in

    • @RBTheMechanic

      Mike Mardis pad slap is $40 I have tried before in past not to do lame job but if now me some one else will do it and loose a life time customer I hope u understand
