Hello, teacher! Thank you so much for the lesson! Could you please explain me in short the difference between the verbs تشابه and شبه? The fact that there are two verbs for the verb to resemble confuses me a bit...
You're most welcome! Let's see, so the words are : شبه and تشابه... "Sha-bah" and "Ta-sha-bah". شبه is not a verb, it's an adjective. Both words come from the same route: شبه which means "likeness" or "similar to".
Now back to basics: شبه - means similar to.
Example:
The boy is similar to my son .
الولد شبه ابني.
Now the other word IS a verb تشابه: Ta-sha-bah.
This is more of Fos-ha / MSA than levantine which directly translates to "to show likeness"
Here's a bonus one: Shab-bah شبّه
This means "I see similarities" but it's very specific on when it's used.
Example:
He sees a lot of his son in the boy.
هوّ شبّه الولد لابنه.

You are not bothering me at all... I don't think I'll be able to include that in family, but how about I do a lesson on it to cover: شبه, and زي, and مثل since they're all kind of interchangable? It will be in February though since My January is already booked up with topics - would that work my friend?
