I have raw diet tips. Given your limited space the patties and tubs might take up too much space in your freezer. Primal makes good smaller frozen nuggets in bags that defrost in the fridge overnight and their pronto line which is even smaller defrosts quite quickly in the bowl 10min. The reason I like them is because they have the most protein varieties for cats that I’ve seen but they do add a lot of veggies and greens fyi (not bad but my one cat with IBS can’t tolerate anything other than limited ingredient food). If the ladies have no sensitivities or you want to provide quarterly variety they are the best and have a good track record for safety imo.
Introduce a teaspoon of raw with their normal kibble slowly for at least a week. If no puking or issues then up it to half/half the next week and more the next.
Only thing with raw (and wet/canned to some extent, especially if the van gets hot) is they have to eat it all within 30min-45min or you could be risking tummy upsets from bad bacteria that grows. Can’t leave it out like kibble.
Could also do dehydrated raw food and rehydrate it when needed. I’d recommend Feline Natural brand or Primal brand again both who make that type of option as well.
This is so helpful thank you! Luckily they like to eat all their food at once so I think it would be a good fit for the van eventually!

Speaking of cozy, this is why I want my own van - driving off to a quiet spot in nature, and enjoy the sounds and smells while I work, read, draw. I'll also have a small woodstove for ultimate cosiness 🤔 🫡 🔥 📚

My wife and I have been living out of our van with our cats for about 2 years now, and we’ve had them on a raw diet for a couple years even before we moved in. We have a little bit larger dorm mini fridge with a seperate freezer compartment, and that’s basically filled every time we get a new shipment of the kitties’ food😅. If I remember correctly, you guys probably have a 12v fridge, so space might be a little bit of a challenge. The Brand we buy from is Darwin’s; they’ve always been pretty on time with deliveries, and have been very helpful with fixing or replacing orders if anything goes wrong. We are also based out of San Diego, so we have the benefit of a fixed delivery point and brand of pet food. I’m sure your guys are resourceful enough to figure out getting something shipped to you while you’re traveling all over though.

Today’s video was such a treat. Don’t all cats have a series of names? My pocket bears are a mama and baby duo whose official names are Ursula and Grizzly, but we rarely call them that. Most of the time, they’re BabyMama and BabyBoy - which we shorten to BahBahMahMah and BahBahBoh.

Loves the ladies😻😻... have a question....where did you guys purchase the hardness for them. Also, I see you don't feed them wet food. Is there a reason? Well a couple of questions ☺️ I have always enjoyed your videos! Keeping living the life .
We got the harnesses from Mynwood cat jackets on Etsy! We do feed them wet food but they go crazyyy for it so usually not on video since it gets so chaotic. Also they cans take up quite a bit more space. I would say they eat wet food about 1/3 to 1/2 of their meals depending on how easily we can get it!

The retractable leashes help a lot! They still get tangled though. 😂

Cats don't kill nearly as many birds as humans think they do. Also, don't you think they'd be killing birds in any event if they hadn't domesticated themselves back in the day?
They kill quite a few. Sasha actually has killed a couple while on leash!
My cats loved raw food but one of them developed asthma after making the switch to raw. Started with sneezing, then turned into asthma attacks every few weeks, to every day. We were using Viva Raw, which they and I really loved, but since stopping the raw food and a round of steroids she hasn't had any episodes in over 6 months. Now we do Tiki cat wet food.
Oh wow that’s so interesting! Sasha has asthma and had a pretty bad attack last year with the wildfires. We had read that a raw diet can help with it so that’s one of the reasons we considered making the switch!

Your cats really need a cat tree. Especially living in such a small space, cats need their own furniture for comfort and also need lots of activity and playing. There’s not enough room for them to run around. Yes you take them on a walk but it’s not enough. Please do invest in a cat tree and dedicate multiple times a day to playing with them.
They have a small cat scratching post. We also play laser before bed and they have many other toys in the van. I can tell you they are both much happier to live this way than in an apartment. Or a shelter which is where they both came from,
What a lovely day they had❤... that snow was in the middle of summer was bizarre. I live where it doesn't snow, but I'm really curious to see how my cat would react to snow🤩

Hubby and I love your videos! We missed you when u took a break! You must use a tea towel under the vessel used for coffee. Learned this the hard way burns on leg when tipped. Watching others we notice everyone first places a flat tea towel under it. Give it a try. Love your cats!

Yeah we were feeling a little burnt out and since we really don’t make money on the videos right now they’re just for fun. Hoping to post at least every other week (occasionally weekly) from here out! We have some pretty exciting summer plans and are enjoying making the videos again. 😊
I feed my cat a raw diet and I highly recommend it. I never had such a healthy cat, and it is my hope that he'll be healthy for a long time. I feed my cat a mixture of frozen pet specific raw food (which contains bones organs mixed in with meat to provide other nutrients) and freeze dried raw cat food as a backup if I forget to thaw his food the night before or if I need to be away and I'll set up a timer dish with the freeze dried food. Depending on your freezer size, you may be able to get a few days to a couple of weeks worth of raw food at a time. It may make more sense to you to try the freeze dried raw cat food, which you can rehydrate with water.

For the cats, look for air dried raw food. Ziwi is one brand. It will be much easier to deal with on the road than traditional raw food

Cats arnt vegetarian guys. They will always need kibble (dry food meat). That's why cats and dogs have Canines. 😊
We are well aware they aren’t vegetarian. The raw diets usually contain many types of meat!

Of course. We highly recommend them!
Raw food is great for cats/dogs but if you don't have access to a big freezer (living in a van) id suggest a freeze dried or dehydrated food. They'll probably be happier on it as it's more like what they would actually eat in the wild. You need to find one with a complete diet (kibble manufacturers add in the vitamins and minerals, so just make sure the raw has all that as well).
Thanks for this! The freezer does seem to be the biggest drawback (for us) on the raw diets.
@@scarletandseth Freeze dried would also be great. no refrigeration required. you can re-hydrate if you want. if your kids like meat, they'll love freeze dried. you can also get some raw for special occasions or when you have access to a freezer.
My cat has been on raw for his whole life (10 years) and i traveled this past week in my car across the country (so no freezer) and tried the powered stuff you re-hydrate and he didn't like it. his poop also smelled bad. but on raw it doesn't.

Also, I use the Tiki Cat After Dark brand of wet cat food as my next-best alternative to a raw food diet. My sister even said that she thought it was human food when I opened it, and my cat goes crazy for it!!

We travel with our cat also. She is always on a lead which other travellers find different and amusing. We cannot imagine travelling without her!
