Checking and recalibrating the temperature on a Brinsea Ovaeasy Advance Series II Incubator

  • It is good practice to check that the temperature inside your Ovaeasy incubator matches the digital temperature in the display. At least do this at the start of each season. If your machine is in constant use it may be wise to plan in more regular checks. Calibration is not difficult. This will hopefully become clear in this section of video. If your machine is cold let it get up to temperature for an hour. If your machine is already warm (perhaps because it was in use and you disconnected it for 15 minutes to replace a temperature/humidity sensor on it) then you probably only need to let it warm up for 30 minutes before carrying out your temperature checks. Do not base your temperature readings on the machine with eggs in it. The eggs are themselves a source of heat so remove eggs but leave the water pan in place. It is generally accepted that eggs can cool for up to 2 hours without detriment if they are 7 days or more into incubation. If eggs are less than 7 days into incubation, then find an alternative incubator in which to place your eggs while you recalibrate. Make sure you turn the turning to zero (off) and then level the trays. Position your thermometer so that it can be read without opening the door at 30mm off the appropriate shelf (top shelf in 190, 2nd shelf in 380 and 3rd shelf in a 580) . If you have a camera on your mobile phone you can use this to magnify the view of your thermometer (as we have done in this video). Always save your changes after temperature calibration and leave for 30 minutes for the temperature to settle in the machine. The machine instructions have more information on calibration. These can be downloaded from our website if you no longer have them.

    I have put water in the tray with the sponges and the ventilation holes are closed and it should be 50 % humidity but it is around 60-70 RH .

    I am getting an - RM error code. Can you help with information

    • @BrinseaProductsLtd
      @BrinseaProductsLtd  2 года назад

      Hi Sharon, you didn't say which model of incubator you have. Please refer to your instructions, if you no longer have them they can be downloaded free of charge here: brinsea.co.uk/latest/resource-centre/instructions/ -RM means that your room temperature alarm has been triggered: LOW ROOM TEMPERATURE ALARM - If the calculated room temperature remains too low for optimum results for more than 1 hour a warning is displayed “-RM” and an alarm will sound. Press OK to silence the alarm for 30 minutes. If the low temperature problem rectifies itself the “-RM” remains on the display to show this has happened. Press OK to clear the indicator. Check the incubator is not (and has not been) in a cold draught or that the room temperature has dropped significantly. It is advisable to candle eggs a number of times after this event to check for losses.

    Pressing ok and (-) does not level my machine - it simply cues it to change to the other side. How do I get it to level?

    • @BrinseaProductsLtd
      @BrinseaProductsLtd  2 года назад

      Hello, have you turned your turning off? You need to make sure the turning is switched off before you go to level the shelves. If you try this and are still having an issue please can you contact sales@brinsea.com and they will be able to help you. There may be an issue with the switch at the back of the machine. Kind regards, Brinsea.

      @@BrinseaProductsLtd yes. Turning is off. As I said, pressing ok and (-) just makes it turn to the other side. If I want it to level I have to pause it by hitting ok. That is not the only problem. I spent $80USD on a new sensor but it didn’t fix the issue. Anytime I plug the antiquated humidity system in I get a sensor error and the temp climbs up to 120F and cooks all my eggs. Not a happy hatcher over here. Can someone please tell me how to fix this issue? It cooked well over $1000 worth of eggs on me last season and I can’t dry hatch goslings.

      This is the error I get also - but only if I attempt to use this stupid humidity unit. If I try to use this unit it spikes the temperature to 120 degrees fareheit and cooks all my eggs. I lost $600 of eggs last year as a result of this issue. I bought a new sensor and just put it in. Seemed to work so I plugged in the humidity unit and suddenly the temp on the display spiked to 116 degrees F and the sensor reset error came up. I'm so frustrated having just purchased a new sensor for $80. Why does it keep doing this?
