The S6 Active is a killer phone. It's honestly what I hoped the S6 would of been. What good is a pretty phone if the battery is dead and you have to handcuff the device to eek through a day. Great job Fish.
I'd actually buy the Active. I'm not particularly active, but I like the tactility and ruggedness of the Active. The S6 seems really delicate and fragile in comparison.
I agree. I went in to best buy and I thought the active felt more premium than the regular s6 and you don't have to worry about dinner printed all over the back. The 3500 mah battery is a great plus too.
I love my s6 active still in 2018, when I need it to be louder I use a bluetooth speaker. I get excellent battery I turn all the crap off: gps, sync, nfc, turn down the brightness. I do agree though 64 gig internal storage would have been nice.
Am I the only one that would choose active over stock s6? I don't really find s6 active ugly, it's deliberately built like that to look like a military gadget.
Good video, you didn't disappoint. I'm glad that you got about the same screen on time as me.. I, for some reason was expecting more though. Considering the battery is larger than the Note 4, but the screen is smaller. I'm fooling around with power save mode, greenify and some other things. I would think you could squeeze close to 7 hours from this battery with some tweaks.
***** We've felt the same way with many Android phones these days. The Droid Turbo is another example of a phone with a huge battery but only about 5.5 hours of SoT between charges. After the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 or the LG G Flex (first-gen), anything less than 10 or 7 hours of SoT seems underwhelming somehow. ^M
I haven't gotten the s6 active yet, but will be upgrading soon. I am currently sitting on the back end of year two with my s4 active, and for anyone considering an active phone: Get it. When I got mine, people said the novelty of a waterproof phone would wear out quickly, and trust me - it does not. I use the waterproof capability all the time. And, let me tell you, there is not a damn thing in this world that is more satisfying than taking an $800 piece of advanced electronic engineering and spiking it on the ground when you're frustrated. Having a phone that you can throw across the room is like, just, the best thing. Rugged phones are the way to go.
$10 more for that much extra protection seems well worth it for me especially since I usually purchase a beefy OtterBox or similarly-styled case for my phones. I never use the stock earbuds and obviously I don't care much about style. I do think the S6 looks pretty cool though.
I just got the S6 Active for my second line today after my S5 had issues with water intrusion and my S4 Active wasn't up to the job. I like the extended battery trade off in particular as I found fingerprint scanning home keys to be a gimmick anyway. Black Friday has been good to me...
I love the S6 but the battery just made it a useless phone to me. I decided to sacrifice the fingerprint scanner and go with the active for more battery life, ruggedness, and water resistance. I hope I like the active.
Unfortunately I fear the screen will still shatter just as easily if front on impact or force is applied. Also the standard s6 should have always had that battery size, and been slightly thicker to recess the camera better. It wouldn't take away from it.
I'd for sure get the active. Only wish it had the same storage capacity. Longer battery life would definitely come in handy since you can't remove the battery. I still have my s4 active and I love it. Haven't put it through really any difficult "active" test other than having it fall out of my pocket one night and spent one snowy night on the ground under 6 inches of snow. Don't think a regular s4 would've made it through that
The s6 active seems so perfect, I don't mind the looks and I am always very careful with my phone, but I wish I wouldn't have to be. The one downer is the AT&T exclusive. All of the other features seem perfect for me
Amazing review! I love your videos, the ideas, the shots and the dynamic range of scenarios are just too damn good. Always great quality from Michael and on this channel. Keep up the awesome work Pocketnow and thank you for giving us all this information and news. PV
Pocketnow in the video you mentioned you could take this phone to T-Mobile, but would miss out on Band 12 LTE. I thought the AT&T S6 Active actually supported both LTE Band 17 and 12. Could you please confirm this?
I have the S5 Active and as a parent of 2 small kids ( 18 months and 3 years), the mil spec has saved my bacon more than once. The Gear Fit also proved to be more rugged than Samsung suggests, It survived being flushed down the toilet by my son and being unaware of its location, it survived being underwater for 6 hours without damage
I love the feel of a phones like the s6. I also love the looks, but I hate bulky cases. I have a pretty active life, but I am pretty careful with my devices. The active wouldn't be a bad phone for me. I still prefer the normal, sleek designs of a smartphone though.
Is that the actual stock interface? Because it looks cool as hell. :D And if not can you tell me how you got it that way, because I want my phone to look like that! :D
I got the regular S6 about 3 weeks ago and i now regret it well to a point since its only on AT&T. I wouldn't be able to get it even if i wanted to however if i could i would definitely choose the active to not have to worry about dropping it or water damage is a huge thumbs up from me. Plus i don't really mind the 32 gb since all my pictures, music and videos are immediately synced to my dropbox. 10/10 would trade my regular s6 for the active
I was just starting to be convinced on the Active, but then I heard the disappointing internal memory report. I was already grumbling about the lack of an upgradable memory card in the regular S6 - but only 32gb in Active ??? No way !!! p.s. Great review !!! Thank you.
Just can't deal with those 3 physical home buttons, irks me, and battery life isn't that bad, so quick to charge and also get outside and be more social!
I'll buy the active without a doubt. My life style is run 40 miles per week biking, mountain biking, swimming and soccer. I'm training for a triathlon so definitely the active will be my phone plus I got use to IP67 because of my S5
Apple should definitely make some kind of protected phone like the active. Still can't believe my 6 bended... They send me another one but it makes a weird noise at the upper display if you press it softly. Would you ditch your iphone for a s6 active??
Hey PocketNow and all the other viewers I'm still rockin the s5, not just any galaxy s5 the Galaxy s5 active ruby red edition I have to say is the most gorgeous phone I've seen, but honestly I wouldn't want to upgrade unless the galaxy Note becomes waterproof because I go swimming a lot and I love my galaxy s5 active. NOT going to lie if I didn't buy my phone 9 months ago I would have got the S6 active. Only because it's the suppose of top of the line phone.
Pocketnow You guys should do a review of the Lumia 640XL. You will be surprised at how good it is + we haven't had much WP coverage on the channel for a while now.
I can live with 32GB storage, but NOT having to go through Hell (getting it full-price from AT&T, unlocking it from AT&T, Importing from the US and all the ridiculous taxes and legalities to boot) to get this phone. C'mon, Samsung! This is clearly the more superior phone than the Galaxy S6!
I think most people, unless they need every last drop of protection they can get, will prefer the s6 with a rugged/waterproof case. So that way, they can remove the case and enjoy the body of the s6 when they don't need all of that protection.
I like my S6. Shorter battery means I will pay attention to family/friends and pets more. I've just gotten it and already the dog sat on it and didn't want to move. Haha but it lasts long enough if I don't act like an addict and that's without invoking battery saver mode, the less severe one. The ultra battery saver mode I'll keep in mind plus I carry an external battery anyway left over from my Moto G days. The camera rocks and I'm gonna shoot some 4k video one of these days. I saw a waterproof shock resistant case for the S6 I think on the Walmart site or Amazon for $50 so there's that. Gotta bookmark or wishlist it after I find it again. There's waterproof minus shock resistance for $10 on the Walmart site too. I'd check reviews on both though. They might suck.
The S6 Active looks far better than the regular S6. I really don't understand peoples obsessions with "super thin" and glass everything..I was going to get the regular S6 but pretty sure I'm goin for the active now.
Big Fid We'll actually be following up with a full video review alongside the text review. This video was confined to examining the S6 Active in the context of the S6. Review video will include more camera samples, voice quality discussion, etc. ^M
If the S6 were thicker and had a recessed camera and a lot bigger battery, they would have had my money on my most recent upgrade. I love the thinness of the phone but I would sacrifice it for being more practical.
I say the Active is the better smartphone! For the bigger battery, rugged build, and hard buttons. Although more memory would be via a micro SD card slot.
Thank God ***** made the Galaxy S6 Active a worthy S6 variant rather than a "strip out of the same name" It more practical & usable The camera is astonishing as you could get from phone 📱 👍
Loved the GS6 drop test haha 0:54
Harris Craycraft Would have been tragic if he missed, haha.
The S6 Active is a killer phone. It's honestly what I hoped the S6 would of been. What good is a pretty phone if the battery is dead and you have to handcuff the device to eek through a day.
Great job Fish.
*Would've or would have. Not "would of".
Agreed. It's what the S6 should have been.
+Imran Habib they hear people say should've and think it's should of
I'd actually buy the Active. I'm not particularly active, but I like the tactility and ruggedness of the Active. The S6 seems really delicate and fragile in comparison.

Dominic London its not a finger print magnet either.
Plus the bigger battery. Looks pretty sweet
Dominic London
If you want a water resistant phone without sacrificing looks and storage options, then I highly recommend the Sony Z3 Plus.
I just dont like the physical button😞
I love my s6 active still in 2018, when I need it to be louder I use a bluetooth speaker. I get excellent battery I turn all the crap off: gps, sync, nfc, turn down the brightness. I do agree though 64 gig internal storage would have been nice.
Hey mikey ,
Does the active supports the Exernal SD card ?
Great review though ;)

1:00 he said S5 instead of S6 :0
RIP planet earth
Ryan McAdam yep :)
Ryan McAdam lol i didn't even notice
Ryan McAdam . He said s5 is more durable
I haven't gotten the s6 active yet, but will be upgrading soon. I am currently sitting on the back end of year two with my s4 active, and for anyone considering an active phone: Get it. So this bypasses the passcode when using the active button?
I just got the S6 Active for my second line today after my S5 had issues with water intrusion and my S4 Active wasn't up to the job. I like the extended battery trade off in particular as I found fingerprint scanning home keys to be a gimmick anyway.
Black Friday has been good to me...
Yey! @Captain2phones is back :D so good to hear your voice again.
I love Ingress! Glad to see Michael playing it!
Resistance or enlightened
***** ENL FTW!
Terry Cole This guy gets it. ^M
Terry Cole where do you primarily play?
How are you guys tonight?
Pocketnow Has it taken over your life yet? ;-)
Whats that wallpaper you're using? Looks neat!
I love the S6 but the battery just made it a useless phone to me. I decided to sacrifice the fingerprint scanner and go with the active for more battery life, ruggedness, and water resistance. I hope I like the active.
1:05 says S5 active instead of S6 active
Nizam Ahmed . He said s5 is more durable
Unfortunately I fear the screen will still shatter just as easily if front on impact or force is applied. Also the standard s6 should have always had that battery size, and been slightly thicker to recess the camera better. It wouldn't take away from it.
Shibby No I checked the specs, the active's screen is slightly more durable than the regular s6
klutz here, the active is very tempting but I'll have to see what else gets released this year before retiring my Nexus 5
Is the S6 Active compatible to the gear VR?
Cool video btw😉
I'd for sure get the active. Only wish it had the same storage capacity. Longer battery life would definitely come in handy since you can't remove the battery. Liked for the ingress part :) good to see you are on the right side :)
So good to hear Michael.
Michael Fisher has the best reviews hands down
Which skin you use ?
what themes were you using ?

No 2nd thought, because of the bigger battery, definitely gonna choose the active version.

The Gear Fit also proved to be more rugged than Samsung suggests, It survived being flushed down the toilet by my son and being unaware of its location, it survived being underwater for 6 hours without damage
If I get the Active shipped to the UK, will i be able to unlock it and use it here?
Is the active available in the UK?
Pocketnow I think you meant to say S6 Active. 1:00
I love the feel of a phones like the s6. I also love the looks, but I hate bulky cases. I have a pretty active life, but I am pretty careful with my devices. The active wouldn't be a bad phone for me. I still prefer the normal, sleek designs of a smartphone though.

Just can't deal with those 3 physical home buttons, irks me, and battery life isn't that bad, so quick to charge and also get outside and be more social!
Please be Michael Fisher... Yes!!!!!!
*UNPOPULAR OPINION*
I like the design of the Active and don't think it looks ugly. Especially the camo version(but I would still take the S6)
And it's actually pretty thin too!
may not be as unpopular as you think, especially when the alternative is glass
I like the Active because of the battery only, but i dont think its ugly either. Samsung really shouldve made the stock S6 thicker to hit 3000 mAh
I'll buy the active without a doubt. My life style is run 40 miles per week biking, mountain biking, swimming and soccer. I'm training for a triathlon so definitely the active will be my phone plus I got use to IP67 because of my S5
Hello, what's the game @ 2:30? thanks!
what kind of desk mats are those ?
Michael I think you miss the extended memory option it is just on top of the SIM card.
What theme is on the phones?
Apple should definitely make some kind of protected phone like the active. Still can't believe my 6 bended... They send me another one but it makes a weird noise at the upper display if you press it softly.
Would you ditch your iphone for a s6 active??
How about the ram issue ? Same as the regular S6 and S6 edge?
what is the theme..?
Hey PocketNow and all the other viewers I'm still rockin the s5, not just any galaxy s5 the Galaxy s5 active ruby red edition I have to say is the most gorgeous phone I've seen, but honestly I wouldn't want to upgrade unless the galaxy Note becomes waterproof because I go swimming a lot and I love my galaxy s5 active. another great comparison
i really want the active its not as nice but it has the features of the s5 which is making me stay plus the extra button
is there a difference in chips running the phones?
What software theme is this?
Excellent comparison from ***** of Pocketnow . If I was AT&T exclusive, the Active seems like a more compelling option.
A link to the wallpaper on both galaxies please!
Pocketnow Not available in Europe at all?
I miss the green camoflauge of the pre green active
Whats the theme on the phones
What background was on the phones
Pocketnow You guys should do a review of the Lumia 640XL. You will be surprised at how good it is + we haven't had much WP coverage on the channel for a while now.
Michael u are the PhoneGuy! :D
What theme is that?

Did you just call that an "S5"? 1:00
He sure did xD
+Amith Varghese *"S5 Active"
Is this a third Party theme app, or the s6 ui? If its an app please tell me ehat its called.
Name of the game he was playing? ??
Talk from boston? I'm in brockton
Will go for Active S6 if dual sim version is out.
What theme was that on his s6?
1:00
We're on the S6 Active, Michael!
Gabe Johnston Good spot
what theme on the active??
I think most people, unless they need every last drop of protection they can get, will prefer the s6 with a rugged/waterproof case. So that way, they can remove the case and enjoy the body of the s6 when they don't need all of that protection.
what is the game he is playing
I think you should also mention that the S6 proper is more likely to get quicker firmware updates than the S6 Active
Why limit the active's storage capacity to 32 gb? Makes no sense to me
Finger print scanner?... Are you missing it?
I own an s6 active it is by far the best phone I've owned to date
Could you drop the s6 active into a running washing machine and see if it still work?
what theme is that???
Why would you need an "active" phone on T-Mobile? Even T-Mobile recognizes the fact that you don't get service outside of metro areas.
the active is amazing.best smart phone I've ever used and I've used hundreds
I like my S6. Shorter battery means I will pay attention to family/friends and pets more. I've just gotten it and already the dog sat on it and didn't want to move. I'll add that Life proof makes a really good case for the S6. It might even be more tough than the Active.
fhhh that's a bummer. Thanks for the heads up!
nice comparison...
The S6 Active looks far better than the regular S6. I really don't understand peoples obsessions with "super thin" and glass everything..I was going to get the regular S6 but pretty sure I'm goin for the active now.
Hmm, I wonder what type of motorola phone that was 4:40. Was it a Moto G?
00:18, what are those things in the background called??
Mr. Moseby cutting board
it has been a great time with my active s5
Hmm, I would love to get it if it were on Verizon. The battery was the main reason why I didn't get the S6.
at&t offers 64gb now
Anyone know what launcher that is or if it's a theme only on the s6?
Michael Fisher you said s5 active instead of s6 active lol pocket now
just pick up my wife s6 active cuz she tend drop her phone alot. very please we did so. she loves it.
This is still not the full review?
xSynatiiC full is a text review on website

Pocketnow How about OIS in S6 Active? I can't find confirmation that it was used in Active variant.
