Wildest Cabin near Yellowstone

- I found a cabin miles from anywhere or anything, deep in the heart of grizzly country, and stayed there all alone. It was amazing. I hiked up above the cabin and had some heart pounding encounters with the wildlife. So join me for a little adventure in this little slice of heaven on earth.

THANKS FOR WATCHING!
seems like a pretty nice road, for the middle of nowhere...
I'm 5 mins into the video and see your getting pretty serious with videography, well done sir!
Thank you sir. I finally got a real camera, but it's so hard to use compared to my GoPro 😄 Hopefully it gets easier and I get better. Audio is next.
Thank you so much for sharing this journey. I felt like I was with you. Your apprehension made things exciting and fun. I felt the dread of leaving the cabin and the serene beauty of the area as well. You're a great videographer.
What a sweet comment. Thanks Luann!
Yes! “ Dirty Hippies “ Classic. I’m still smiling over that. Couldn’t have said it better
The hippies didn't seem to like it 😬
3rd time now. How i wish i was in that cabin. Doing some cooking, crochet. Waiting fore you to come back, serve you some food. And of corse being first to see.😘 Nice💝🙏🕯
In my opinion you should have more subscribers. Your channel is great and has a lot of good information! Thanks for taking us along!
I appreciate that. Thanks for being one of the few who does follow and comment.
I agree. 😊
Glad your channel popped up into our feed.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad it did too.
Sue here: love the area !!! But bahahaha - your meals!!! Your personality !!!
Yeah definitely "needs improvement"
The landscape is absolutely breathtaking
I agree! This area is gorgeous. Thanks for watching!
I love the wilderness, definitely heaven on earth. Beautiful wildlife, the trees awesome video. Cabin looks cozy and well restored
I agree, it was a lovely cabin. Thanks for commenting!
That’s pure beautiful country ❤
Agreed. Thanks for watching!
This reminds me of my grandpas cabin, he built it in the 60s in Northern British Columbia, at one point at had a running shower and a heat exchanger made from copper that would heat the water using the wood stove, kerosene lamps too light it and guns hung up all over the wall, he had a garden because the area was very fertile from a previous volcano eruption so the vegetables were massive. Remember walking out from there to go to a logging camp for groceries and seeing sign from grizzlies, made your hair stand up.
That's awesome. I'd love to see that cabin.
@@RyanThayne unfortunately after he died there was a problem with the estate and someone that he thought he would trust, ended up taking everything, it was unfortunate because he had a gem of a property, they never cared about it and it fell into disarray, I don’t think the cabin is even standing anymore, been about 14 years now since he went.
Sweet little cabin in the sticks! 👍👍✌️
Thanks for watching Dan ✌️
It was the "dirty hippies" that got me😂
Seriously though, what a beautiful place with spectacular scenery!
Haha thanks, I was lucky to be able to visit.
A Couple of Dirty Hippie Girls? It sounds like a party to me!! Making memories 🎉😂❤
Haha, you're right!
you didn't even cook breakfast! You gotta cook something at a place like that.
I know! Kicking myself.
What a quaint little cabin! I loved that mint color they chose inside. That landscape around you was so beautiful!! 🌲You made me laugh out loud a few times but that sweaty betty was something else (so unexpected)! 🤣
Thanks Spring! Glad I could make you laugh.
Love those mule deer...their ears are something else!
Thanks Cindy!
I've had a few surprise moose encounters in my life. That one was huge! I would have to go back and change my underwear. LOL!
Love the Shining vibe
Ha thanks, glad someone recognized it.
That one super awesome cabin, coolest! And that sturdy door with log to reinforce the lock. Man I feel safe in this cabin. Always bring your gun
That's so beautiful, the spot is just immaculate.
I found the location in the cabin. Kudos for keeping it semi private. A little detective work and anyone can locate it. I also found it on a couple of other off-road applications. Once again, great video and thank you for giving me a peek at that area. I have driven past it four or five times but now I will put that, on my list of things to do and definitely make it a destination. It is near another area that I frequent. Thank you again.
Yeah I figured there was no real way of keeping it completely secret (it is a rentable cabin after all) but I also didn't want to make it easy. Good job finding it.
What's the big deal about keep a secret? Tell us the state at least, please.
May I know where it is? If like to go with my children please
Wapiti Cabin, Near Gallatin Gateway, Montana @@ozzieozzie4914
Wow the scenery looks amazing great place to have a cabin
Indeed. I'm so glad I found it. Thanks for watching!
Ok, I liked! Very peaceful and calming 👍
Thanks for the video. ❤😁
That was so peacfull to watch ,Nice cabin !
What an interesting adventure!!! As always, fantastic footage of so much BEAUTY and always making me laugh with your wit!!! The nearness of the bull moose was a bit scary, but the rest was so neat! Did you ever find your cookies? 🎠
Thanks! And yes, I did find the cookies. They were waiting for me back home on the table 😆
Wow 😮 amazing trip big brother
Hi Ryan it is beautiful place, how beautiful these animals must have been very exciting to sleep in this cabin, a big hug from Portugal
Great video. That place is very beautiful
Two hippie girls? Now THAT would have been a great video.
😂
Okay Joe-in the woods, intentions are in the right place, but in environments new and intimidating such as this, your fears will get the best of you, mostly for no reason. Be open and accepting to new experiences, which in most cases will become a really good adventure! “dirty hippies” as you seem to look down on, or any other people for that matter, are just people with a different perspective. That’s all. In my experiences around this planet, I have taken away many more good experiences with what I knew was not like me, than the what was familiar. Open up and take in the unfamiliar. You will grow for the better. Trust me.
Adventure on
Cueva
I totally agree @darkcavedive3610. But I have plenty of experience with hippies, and they're dirty. It's not a derogatory word, just an accurate description 😂 Trust me.
-Joe-in the woods.
Lucy is the mama bear. 😂
😄
I would love to live in a place like that .
Me too!
Nice Cabin. 🏚❤🤩
you should cook food , it keeps you occupied
Next time for sure!
Nice job on everything. Keep up the great work!
Thank you! I'll try!
i think u are the best youtuber showed the road view while driving
Thanks Ramesh! Luckily the drone is easy to fly while driving.
thanks,give us road views-it gives us the e-travel experience@@RyanThayne
It's awesome place to relax..,
It surely was. Thanks for watching
Beautiful country.
It really is! Thanks for watching.
Amazing place. Take care of yourself always. 🦌🦌🦌🤩💯💯
I liked the background music from the shining
Thanks Jim
That was great!!
Thanks!
❤❤just found you! Amazing. Love your humor❤❤
Thank you! Love your name.
@@RyanThayne thank you😊
Fun adventure! Love the movie beginning, you have amazing drone footage and very good editing 🏆 Is that the music from The Shining? 😳
Thanks for the trophy! Yes, I didn't want to use the actually recording from the movie so I got the original song from the national archives and edited it to sound echoey like on the Shining 😁
It is interesting to see how city boys think and behave in the woods.
Motivated ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing, I ish I was young enuff to do it. I would love to live there.
So would I! Thanks Willie.
Hola,un gran video!!!
Excelentes imágenes❤
Saludos
Muchas gracias Jaime 😊
When I heard "two hippie girls" I thought of the song "Sisters of Mercy" by Leonard Cohen. However, nowadays it seems hard to find a place where you can be alone with nature.
Thanks for introducing me to a new song. Very peaceful. The only Leonard Cohen songs I knew were Hallelujah and the one from True Detective season 2.
@@RyanThayne I'm not sure if he's your taste, maybe too slow. But give it a try: From "Suzanne" (his first song) to "You want it darker" (one of his last ones) there is much to discover. If you like it more uptempo "First we take Manhatten", "Nevermind", "A street", "Did I ever love you", "The Future" may be your choice. 🙂
@@viceroyzh wow, "you want it darker" was so hauntingly good 👍
@@RyanThayne His swansong. A few weeks after recording this he died. What a brave man to argue with god on his deathbed.
The wires in the windows make me feel safer so bears wont get inside
I keep saying I’m not interested in this channel but it continues to pop up on my homepage. Nothing personal. I’m all for people enjoying content that they like. And I’ve already watched it.
Well thanks for watching! Hopefully RUclips stops suggesting it now, although, maybe they know you really want to watch it again 😉
@@RyanThayne 🤣
Love the music...you should give the artist credit. They could have put that woodstove in a better place...it takes up a lot of space stuck out there in the middle of everything...
Thanks Cindy. All the music I used is just free on the RUclips Library.
Wow! That looks like such a beautiful place to stay. You did a superb job of videoing it. It would be great to be able to stay there for a week or so and see what comes in. Some trail cams would be nice to have. How far is the drive from Cooke/ Silvergate?
Thanks Cameron, I would love to go back next year and stay longer. I really wanted to do more hiking but didn't have enough time to really explore the area. It's a good 4 or 5 hours from Cooke/Silvergate I'd say.
Gotcha- Definitely a place to go back to. Are you still around Silvergate? I heard there was a little snow up high, but that was about it. I haven't heard of any good animal sightings and haven't gotten anything on my cameras in weeks. @@RyanThayne
I left at the end of August. We saw the grizzly sow and two cubs between Cooke City and Silvergate right before we left, and lots of bull moose. @@cameronharvey1250
it is heaven!
Hermoso 😻
Just subscribed ! Great video !
Thanks, and welcome!
I don’t understand why people are so afraid of being in remote settings. You are much, much safer there than in metro areas if you have basic skills and are not a complete idiot. I grew up in the middle of nowhere, and now live in a huge city. “Axe murderer” 🤣🤣🤦🏼♀️
People in metro areas don't have axes. Just say'n
Sure we do@@RyanThayne
Really? Don't watch any of those missing hikers videos then.
And guns and knives and brass knuckles.
👍👍👍
1st time viewer 👋 Blessings from Lima Ohio 🌿 Beautiful Place 🎉
Thanks for watching and commenting. I love hearing where people are from.
Now go live that way for 25 years. Yes, in the greater Yellowstone area so I am comparing apples to apples here.... There's no need for curtains where there is nothing but wildlife going to peek in. We also had no tv, radio, internet service for the first 10 years and only wood heat. After the first few weeks ( and NO CAMERA to be constantly talking to for companionship) I can tell you that your entire mind changes. The silence alone will drive some people bat shit crazy within a couple of days. The moose and bears become your "companionship" and not some terrifying adversary. Everything changes. Your body adjusts to the life or you truly do go quite mad. Good that you tried this life and shared with people. Perhaps they can make a much better judgement call before moving to the area and thinking that they will then CHANGE it to meet their own needs. Nature doesn't work that way. The weather alone up in this area will break that notion very very quickly. Winter lasts 9 months of the year and we have had snow hit us every single month of the year.
I need you to start bringing better food, lol. At least a beef and cheese stick. I just watched a video where people go to this seaside cabin-ish that was built forever years ago and they too sign an adventure “I was here” book. Maybe you could go there one day. I’ll see if I can find it and comment back here. Great video again. Hope to see your channel grow as it should be with the great content. Be safe! 😊
I couldn't agree more about the food. I'm not much of a camper as you can see. One day I'll remember to bring some food! Thanks for the nice comments. I appreciate it.
Was that the music from the Shining at the Ovetlook? Oooooooooo!
Indeed 👍
I love trying to pick up the little clues to find these areas w/o the public over running them. Well done blocking out the cabin name on the photo. I guess Im doing more research. Great video.
Thanks Eric! I appreciate the nice comment.
I would never have the nerve to leave the cabin 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
the beauty would lure you out!
Whats worse than an axe murderer? Grizzley
That moose scared me.
Remote cabin in the woods and rain: SCORE!
Canada so beautiful ❤😊 great video so nice
Thanks for the kind comment 😊
It's not Canada. Montana. Greetings from a life long Montanan.
so beautiful area up there! ..next time take some fishing rod and hunt some fresh trouts for dinner instead of these synthetic protein sticks .-) ....nice video!
177,803rd!😊
Lemme guess? Colorado?
I can tell you don’t wanna give exact location and I get why.
But how about a state and like north or south, northeast?
I just wanna know what area is so beautiful like that with all those animals
Montana :) that's all I'm saying.
@@RyanThayne Gawd I love Montana. 1st time I saw a Bald Eagle in the wild and Wild Horses running along side me.
Years later and our Bald Eagles have made a full comeback here in Commiefornia. Montana will always have a special place in my heart though
Not colorado. We do not have griz.
Very pretty but If there is a road going to it it's definitely not the wildest cabin.
When it gets dark is when you invite two hippie girls.😂
In 2016, this cabin was $20/night (I stayed for 4 nights). When you stayed a few months ago it was $65. It is now $73. That is ridiculous.
Where's that cabin please?
Genial 👍🤩😂🎉
Nice
Thanks Aree
Looking back at the big moose bumping into a bear", that were my thoughts
Wouldn't have surprised me.
I was hoping you would get some video of the stars.
That's a great idea. I'll have to try that next time.
nice
Thanks
Just found your channel.
Glad you did 😊
Another city slicker out in the wild with no weapon, walking around with moose and bear in the are. 😒🤦♂️🤷♂️
Cannot believe how afraid or everything he seems to be.
I should have used that as the title of the video. 🤦♂
The piece of wood across the door is alarming lol
Right! That combined with the barbed wire windows.
That's to keep bears and hippies out.
@@marjoriegarner5369 😂
Im guessing Montana, Colorado, or maybe Idaho...
You are correct.
What do you got against hippies?? It is a good people be nice
I got nothing against hippies. I ❤ hippies. They are dirty though 😆
We should all be living in nature, raising animals organically, no gmo, monsanto, toxic vaccines, planting our own veg, herbs etc😅
"Gosh I wish we could all live in the mountains, at high altitudes. That's where I see myself in five years" -Phil Connors
But seriously, that would be nice.
We did that, soon it turned in suburbs, ha ha.
That music...
Lovely little cabin. And beautiful landscape. But, if there is a road all the way to the cabin that you can drive to in comfort, I do not call that "wild". Far from it.
Man u are funny naturally.
😀
Nice scenery and filming. But to be true, it doesn't look like the wildest cabin :)
Beautiful scenery and cozy cabin, but why in the world would u after reading of bear sightings, would u decide to go hiking out alone in area u not familiar with?
I've been hiking in grizzly country for 40 years. There are always grizzly bears around. Rather than never go hiking, its best to hike as safely and cautiously as possible. Just like driving a car comes with risk. Thanks for watching!
Ryan, that's called off grid and any young man or older man and Or woman like me would be perfectly fine out there. I've been in much more remote off grid places then this
I am 65 I was a hippie in my day but u should choose your words differently dirty hippies is harsh man.
What state is this cabin located ?
Montana.
Fireplace? 😂😂
Where is it and how much did it cost you for the stay?
He said 60 or 65$ for 24 hours.
Two girls came up and you didn't want them to make it to your campsite?? :/
Honey bunch??? 😂
