Some men can't even look after their own children for an afternoon alone. You took on this physical challenge completely alone and managed, all the while looking after your child AND filming! Mothers are the strongest people on Earth!
So amazing. It is a 'gender thing'. There is not alot of representation of women on trail... especially with their child, and with no adult companion!! This is a wonderful example of doing something rare, well, and documenting it. I'm super proud of her and inspired. Thank you! Subscribed and liked
First, how? How did you carry all that weight. I will never again complain about my 40 Ibs backpack Second, I love that you are showing the world that life doesn't stop when you have kids. It just needs a bit of adjustment. What a precious adventure and bonding time.
Katie and Charlie!! You are TRULY amazing to watch and listen to along the way. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!! Love the “Cheers!”, and “Nummys,” and “Buh-byes” from sweet Charlie Rae ♥️
Charlie is literally amazing. I feel ashamed that I haven't even done a lap around my park yet and I have lived near it for 12 years.🤦🏽♀️..meanwhile bubs is doing half mile treks and she isn't even 3. What a little darlin' 👑🥰♥️👶🏼
This was fun to watch! I’m originally from Washington and my parents used to take my brother and I on hikes with a pack like the one you have. Your daughter will have a lifelong love of the outdoors for sure!
This is wonderful! I want to be a mom soon and I love this content because I was worried I would have to give up pieces of my life to have a baby. Please share more how you camp and backpack with a little one!
Spectacular!! Reminds me of when I took my 3 year old to a 4 day bluegrass music festival by myself. It was so much work however one of my favorite memories so far. She's five now and we both really love music and camping! Inspired by you, thanks for sharing!
This is the 1st of your videos that I've watched and I really enjoyed it. When my kids were little, in the 70's, i would not have been brave enough to camp alone, and in fact i don't think my husband would have let me, lol. What a gorgeous place you hiked and camped. Charlie is a little darling. I subscribed and will now do some catch up viewing 😊.
So beautiful and touching, your daughter is lucky to have you🥹 seeing this amazing nature and your cute bond , I thought how thousands years ago, another mom probably walked a trail like this with her little daughter... Such a beautiful human experience 🥰
Kudos for taking Charlie on overnight trip! Looks like you two had a blast! I do not know how you handled all the weight! I backpaced back in the 80's (I weighed 130lbs then) with a 55lb backpack from 9,000' to 12,000' and about "died" going uphill same day. The picture of Charlie going down the trail in front (9:21 or so) of you is so cute! Looks like she may be leading mom on hikes in that not too distant future. They all grow up so fast!
Thank you for sharing this, when I had my eldest I was missing some videos like yours to give me some inspiration and reinforce my will to travel with kids. In the end we spent half a year camping and trekking in New Zealand and can’t wait to do it again with both kids now:) you are so strong and in bear country !
I think what’s nice about overnights like that hike is that there are other people around just in case. Most bad guys aren’t hiking five miles into the woods, so it’s all outdoors people like you camping. It just made me feel safer when doing my own solo backpacking. Thank you for the video, I just moved out of the PNW and this gives me my fix. ❤❤❤
I just did my first overnight backpacking trip with my “baby” a few weeks ago. But my baby is 20. I think it’s amazing what you did. I used to take my boys hiking when they were little. It’s such a wonderful thing to share with your child. Loving your channel and videos!
GIRL. I don’t even know where to start. My mouth was hanging open the entire time. You carrying that pack and Charlie…the most beautiful lake and streams and trees I have EVER seen…just wow. You are incredible. I can’t even imagine how much strength that took. And I loved the style of your video. Just felt very chill and real and of course beautiful. Awesome job!!!
As a Bellingham, WA native, I just wanna say I love your channel- also props to you because 80lbs+ would absolutely destroy my back!! I’m also glad you take the safety precautions you do take, I always advocate for taking your safety seriously- even if the situations sound far fetched, if it’s possible then it’s possible.🙏
Wow! I’m so impressed- growing up my parents did a lot of fear mongering. I’d be terrified to do this- I worry about even hiking by myself! I’m in awe and a bit jealous about your confidence and security in your own capability. You’ve inspire me :)
I was amazed by this video. I used to do a lot of backpacking but I am 72 yrs old now and am not able to do it anymore. in my 20's , I didn't like to go over 50 lbs pack weight as it made your hiking experience less enjoyable. This woman carrying 86 pounds going 6 miles... with a toddler, that is Olympic athlete type ability! It made me think of Native American women who carried their papooses on their back and walked long distances on their journeys. Very inspiring!
Ahh, loved this so much! You’re so strong!!!! This is impressive. Thank you for sharing your adventure! I have 3 y/o we’ve done hundreds of hikes, and this makes it excited for the back country with her 😍
Yes you’ve shown the the others cannot do or too afraid to do. Thanks for this adventure you’ve shared. You carried more than I did in the military. SEMPER FI
What a wonderful thing for that precious little girl to grow up having such great adventures with her mom!! So healthy and heartwarming.♥️Great job, mama.
Now that's real adventure! You definitely have me beat for distance and weight on a solo w/child backpack 😂 Exactly 30 years ago I took my daughter, Christine, on her first overnight backpack at the same age as Charlie, but it was just 3.5 miles each way to Lower Twin Lake in MHNF and my pack weighed maybe 30 pounds (I carried Christine in front with my arms). We fished (no-barb hook), we played hide-and-seek, waded with pollywogs, and listened to the forest sounds. On the return hike, Christine picked huckleberries, painting her face and clothes as she gobbled the berries, while I carefully watched for bears feeding on the harvest. Life is wonderful, isn't it?
Thank you I have more confidence in taking my son and my lady backpacking , I thought those backs packs were JUST child carriers , glad to know they also pack , hope you post more trips
Crazy inspiring! I'm working up to, and preparing for, taking my 14 month old backpacking and even a few miles seems intimidating sometimes as you want the experience to be a good one for them. Thank you for sharing and normalizing doing these types of adventures with little ones, and to be recording it all too, very inspiring and motivating!! 🙏
This is amazing! You are so brave and strong physically and mentally. Can you go over what you carried in case of emergency in another video? I always want to learn about how other people prepare for backpacking/ camping when it comes to safety.....oh you just told us in the video as I typed this.
Well I must say this was one of the most inspiring and heartwarming videos I have watched on You tube. You should be awarded a few metals for you bravery, stamina and being such a good mom. Just a few concerns: I’m sure you warned the little one not to run around in camp and keep a close eye on her to avoid her falling and hitting her head on a rock. More people are seriously injured or worst in Yosemite NP from this type of accident than any other. I’m also sure your aware that making a connection with the Garmin maybe problematic with all that Tree Cover. Overall, you score a 9.5 it would have been a 10; but as you know Mother Nature can be as cruel as she is beautiful. Happy trails to you brave one and the little one.
This was absolutely amazing. I thought you were just going on a “little” hike solo with your daughter not an overnight 11 mile round trip. Just incredible.
Wow, that amazing. When I read the title, I thought this lady was taking too big of a risk. After watching you and seeing how prepared and responsible you are, it altered my thinking completely. Kudoes to you for being a brave and adventuous mom. ❤😊
I need more content like this! I love this, you are such an inspiration!! I did an 8 mile hike with a 7 year old, 5 year old, 4 year old and a 2 year old a couple weeks ago. Something about bringing children that you have to understand is you have to prepare to take much longer. But the memories 🤌🏻 it’s all worth it!!!
What a wonderful trip! My daughter is around the same age and we love taking her hiking (and we have the same backpack), but have never tried backpacking. You’re so strong!❤
Hi, I just found your channel and I love it! You and your husband must be so proud of little Charley. She’s so smart, and it’s wonderful that she’s sharing hiking and camping experiences with you at such a young age! And as for you, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a video of someone carrying that amount of stuff (including a human) on their back except maybe a sherpa on Mt. Everest. And decades from now, when you start to slow down, I’m pretty sure that by then your daughter will have the strength and skills to carry you on HER back! Cheers~Stella
Not a parent, but this is so inspiring to get out and do the things that you like to like enjoying nature with family! Such a beautiful area, thanks for sharing and look forward to following your adventures as a new subie 😊
I think this is absolutely fantastic. The only thing I would suggest and only because I used to take a lot of Benadryl and I have a lot of allergy issues is that Benadryl is no longer recommended so I would look at maybe taking Claritin or Zyrtec with you
I was recommended your channel on my feed. I watch hiking and camping channels sometimes and I guess the algorithm said hey! Check this lol. I am a chickie who’s also been wanting to start my own hiking/camping channel and this video is inspiring me to do so 🥺 Beautiful shots also!
It was inconceivable that I would not have subbed to your channel after 1 minute of this video! I simply am in awe of your tiny, strong little human bean and it is clear where she got her strength, courage, charisma and soul...her daddy must be incredible as well. It sounds like your entire family is full of formidable women, in the best way possible. I wish I'd been with you...I could use a touch of courage! Sending so much love from Georgia! 🩵💞
This is unreal!! You are absolutely amazing. Charlie is immeasurably and wonderfully BLESSED to have you for a mom. So glad to find your channel. Way to go!!
Wow...that was badass. 🤩 You are amazing. I'm a mom of three, who are now teenagers....but when my oldest was a toddler, I went on ONE hike with him in a carrier and I said: 'Never again!' 🤣
I absolutely love that you did that by yourself! Even though, 86 lbs sounds absolutely miserable. Lol... I want to do the same with my kid once she's here! :)
I once did 2.5 miles with my toddler on my back at a nature reserve. I only did it once and half way I thought I wouldn’t make it! You are amazing, I’m inspired to take my boy camping but I am a bit scared to stay in a tent alone.
Some men can't even look after their own children for an afternoon alone. You took on this physical challenge completely alone and managed, all the while looking after your child AND filming! Mothers are the strongest people on Earth!
Agreed! Beast mode
Phenomenal ✨💕
I've seen dads do this as well. Let's not make it a gender thing.
Yes, mother's really are
So amazing. It is a 'gender thing'. There is not alot of representation of women on trail... especially with their child, and with no adult companion!! This is a wonderful example of doing something rare, well, and documenting it. I'm super proud of her and inspired. Thank you! Subscribed and liked
Wow.... Someday your daughter will watch this and she will be so proud of her mom. You are so strong!

I can’t believe you hiked with all that weight and still managed to film - thanks for sharing this sweet journey with Charlie ❤
My pleasure! Thanks for watching ☺️
Fellow hiker and mother of a toddler here. You are a bad ass!
I will never complain about my pack weight again 😂 What an incredible bonding experience❤ you 2 are amazing ❤
Wow you’re a great mom! Your daughter will remember these adventures for the rest of her life! ❤
Katie and Charlie!! You are TRULY amazing to watch and listen to along the way. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!! Love the “Cheers!”, and “Nummys,” and “Buh-byes” from sweet Charlie Rae ♥️
Awe, thanks 😊 Charlie’s commentary is the best 🥰
Charlie is literally amazing. I feel ashamed that I haven't even done a lap around my park yet and I have lived near it for 12 years.🤦🏽♀️..meanwhile bubs is doing half mile treks and she isn't even 3. What a little darlin' 👑🥰♥️👶🏼
She is a special girl!! 🩷
Don’t know how you manage hiking and backpacking overnight with a toddler, but that was awesome 👏. You go girl!
This was fun to watch! I’m originally from Washington and my parents used to take my brother and I on hikes with a pack like the one you have. Your daughter will have a lifelong love of the outdoors for sure!
That is awesome!

Thank you for the kind words 🙏
The muffin "cheers" was one of the most adorable things I've ever seen a kiddo do - your bond is precious. Good job momma! Strong and inspiring xo

Amazing views and amazing memories! Great job mama!
So cute. So much respect! Amazing experience for both of you. :)
What a sweet video. Thanks for sharing your world with the world!
Love this mate. I love hiking with my 2.5 year old daughter. Has its challenges but snacks are gold.
💯 snacks are key 😝 my hip pouches are always filled to the brim
Good for you! Glad you’re spending time with your daughter, because they sure grow fast…
Absolutely stellar video! 👌 Looked like you both had an amazing time 👍
What a wonderful trip! My daughter is around the same age and we love taking her hiking (and we have the same backpack), but have never tried backpacking. You’re so strong!❤
WOW, that was awesome. I'm so impressed that you did that, and what a great time with your sweet girl. Congrats to you both!
Thank you 😊
Really loved this video so adorable and what an adventure, subscribed 😘

That's so cool. I didn't have to carry my daughter and my pack maybe weighed 35 lbs. I have never forgotten our backpacking together. Cheers.
Totally impressed! What a great Mom.
your're absolutely amazing!!!
Oh my goodness! She is the cutest little girl! Many Blessings to the both of you on your adventures! 🥰🌿🏕️
Awe, thank you 😊
Amazing mother!
What an adventure. Keeping doing it. So much learning and bonding. And you did it with a 5.5 lb tent.

Sweet mom and daughter!
You're a beast! My kids do this with my grands. Best childhood ever.

Strong and lovely Mother 💓 Enjoyed a lot 💝
Thank you so much
Wow what an awesome accomplishment!
honestly, you are awesome! I hope to do this with my future babies. Go mum!
Amazing!! She should have more likes and subscribers! I have two boys and I have been trying to just plan out a simple car camping trip
Go for it!
You are one awesome mama! ❤
You’re a super mom and I love this 🌹
Way to go mama! Charlie is beautiful!
Wow, that's amazing! ❤
I once did 2.5 miles with my toddler on my back at a nature reserve. I only did it once and half way I thought I wouldn’t make it! You are amazing, I’m inspired to take my boy camping but I am a bit scared to stay in a tent alone.
I hope you do it! The positives outweigh the fear as long as you’re prepared
