    The vehicle featured is a Ford Mondeo Mk3 (2002) but this process is generic.
    You will need:
    * Replacement tie rod end(s), with replacement stud nuts. You can usually find on Amazon ~ US: amzn.to/2h4SGUT | UK: amzn.to/2gYbMIj
    * Spanner or crowfoot attachment for bar to suit track rod lock-nut (24 mm shown). An adjustable spanner may turn a nut that's not tight
    * Adjustable spanner or vise-grips (locking pliers) to hold tie rod while turning lock-nut
    * Socket and spanner to suit stud nut (15 mm shown)
    * Hex key to suit stud (depending on design)
    * Breaker bar
    * Ratchet handle (convenient)
    * Hammer
    * Torque wrench (important for tightening the stud nut on the ball joint). The wrench in the video ~ Amazon US: amzn.to/2g1zGoJ | UK: amzn.to/2gJ7sAg
    * Thread locker if re-using old stud nut.
    (Using the above Amazon links helps support my channel and is appreciated!)

    Really great job with this video. Your voice is even, volume consistent, good use of live sound mingled with over voice. You looked ahead for possibly issues, which is always a plus. Thank you for the video!

    Great video, thanks for making. Just did this job.
    As a tip, if you measure to somewhere on the hub you can eliminate all the variables with the new part.

    Why measure if you don't use the measurement to adjust the new tie rod end?

    Could you not just use your first measurements to the center on the joint to avoid realignment?

    Love it. What you’ll need is a adjustable spanner. Haven’t herd that since 1982. In Yemen. We do not have spanners or boots🤗

    Weird because on my 2010 Mondeo the studs point up with the nut on top rather than the other way around like this

    If the tie rod end is off by a thred would your car jurks driving down the road?

    • @CraigsDIY
      @CraigsDIY  7 месяцев назад +1

      Wouldn't say it would jerk, depends what you mean, the tires will drag a little and steering might feel twitchy.

    Strange... my tie rod ends were in the opposite way to yours (with the big nut on the top)

  • @craigcampbell6690
    @craigcampbell6690 3 года назад +1

    Maybe I'm wrong ,but I'm changing that part at the moment and mine is stock ,nut. On top and yours is upside down and in my opinion the nut should be on top..maybe that's what made yours wear out faster

    If you measured to the tie rod end stud center. You should've just put it back on to that distance and not worry about number of turns it made!! Or really anything pertaining to the threads. You could've saved yourself that whole issue and expense.

  • @gurutimes2
    @gurutimes2 3 года назад +1

    ive done lots of these he made a mistake ! he didnt measure the old tie rod to the center of the end then turn the new one on no matter how long or short it is and measure it to the center of the end and make sure its the exact same length of the old one before tightening it down if he did then no alignment it would have been needed.

  • @haydenbriggs
    @haydenbriggs 4 года назад +1

    Why not just measure the exposed threads?

      Yes it's just the inner joint, it has to articulate too. So long as it's not loose or slack as discussed earlier.
