      Include a picture of yourself in your job application so they see you're white and eventually get the job. That's how it works in this racist country.

      my whole life I struggle to get a job. I am a woman. When I was in my 20s, they did not hire me because they said I will have kids and leave (maternity leave). the same is 30s. Now they say I do not fit in culture. etc.

    Hello! I stumbled across your channel as it popped up when I was scrolling through "retirement" videos, and watched a couple of your videos, and -- well I don't want to say I "enjoyed" them in terms of making light of your situation, but you've got a nice presentation style that I hope can make use of in getting through the hard times. Perhaps just sharing stories of your previous work experiences, positive and negative, would be a good way to start? Personal stories can really connect with an audience -- though I must also say that finding *some* positive angle even in really miserable experiences, can go a long way towards connecting to others in a way that'll get your more followers. Anyway I can certainly relate to your experiences! Good luck with your channel!

      Thanks for your feedback. I have had some great jobs too. I should talk a bout them as well.

    50(ish) and IT too and have experienced most of the ageism you've also suffered. I challenged them and had to protect myself legally for expected repercussion/ retaliation, which naturally occurred. The woke culture and the BS job is rife; we have left the world of meritocracy and are knee deep in ideology & conformity. If you don't follow this path you're out. BS jobs everywhere.

      Yes the last few jobs really was a joke culture-wise.

    I am a banker and in my industry most over 50 will be retired but usually there are good retirement benefits . In Asia they call it the " golden handshake". You are paid a million or more to retire early.
    Even with other jobs in most countries there is a Labour ministry to protect employees. Do you not have this support in Australia?

    • @AgeBlocked

      There is, but because of our property crisis (read super inflated prices), paying rent is far in excess of what the social security payment is.

      @@AgeBlocked actually I was referring to unfair dismissal. Do you have avenues for recourse when retrenched without compensation or dismissed without adequate grounds?

    • @AgeBlocked
      @AgeBlocked  Месяц назад

      Not entirely sure of the laws, but here employers do cover themselves against recourse. I think the main requirement is they pay you severance pay and all your accumulated leave. Severance pay seems to change depending on your contract, but seems to be generally a couple of weeks?

    'Retrenching' is this what we (Europe) understand as TUPE (being outsourced)?

      Here it the term for making someone redundant. In other words, that position is no longer required.

    No issues with your content. Btw I am just curious , did you have frequent job changes when younger too? I mean like in your 30s. You have had a lot of jobs so I am asking.

      I'm glad you like my content. Lots of experimenting, trying to make interesting content without triggering too many people is a bit of a balancing act. But my job history is not intentional. Jobs that I liked, I stayed, but nearly always there was a lay off involved after some years. The crappy jobs I left really quick. My record is a few weeks for leaving a job. There's quite a few like that.

      @@AgeBlockedno judgement here, but just wondering if the frequent job changes worked against you? Sounds like some of it was forced on you. What I mean is staying at the same job for 10 years for instance allows you to build a relationship with people and the organisation which can be a win win. I saw this with my parents' careers. But then again these days people rarely stay on that long.
