i have watched so so so many knitting and crochet videos and you are definitely one of the best!!! Thank you for your clear instructions and explanations!
I have to thank you Norman. After only knowing the knit stitch and failing to finish scarfs and blankets for over a decade, this project, and your accompanying videos, taught me to purl, do the moss stitch, and knit cast on. One of your videos also helped me fix a dropped stitch. Excited to actually create and gift beautiful items I have made!
My granddaughter and I enjoy watching your videos so very much. She has come to stay the summer with me and I catch her watching you while I am doing another chore. She will answer, "But grandma, just another minute, promise." Thank you for so much. I know she is hooked for sure.
Started and finished this cute little project today. It took me some hours but I really loved it. Very beginner-friendly. It's the first knitted item I ever made and it looks a bit wonky and flimsy but I am veeerrrryyy proud of it and I will absolutely make some more 🥰. Thank you for the beautiful pattern and the great video!
This is my second knitting project. (I knit your scarf for beginners first.) I love the clear instructions and am so pleased with the result. I think I'll knit a set so I have a fresh cloth every day. By the way, your voice is so calm, it promotes inner peace while watching. Thank you.
I just finished this and it's still not perfectly square BUT it's much better than my previous garter stitch washcloths and I feel I'm progressing. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and share your talents! 😁
Wonderful! And yeah, practise is key. But hey..it's a washcloth and if it's not perfectly square so what. You can still use it and still enjoy knitting them, right? :)
I love your videos. Everything is clear & concise and easy to understand. You are a fabulous teacher, adding little things that most experts would not think of explaining. I truly enjoy all of it. THANK YOU!
I do enjoy watching you knit. You have just the right amount of tought to the yarn to keep a great knitting flow going. It is relaxing along with you voice. You say " then we're ready to go" to cute😊
I am loving this pattern. I am a beginner knitter and this has not only helped me practice my knit and pearl transition but really helped me learn how to read my knitting.
I've been knitting the continental way for many years, but I learned something new from you. I did the cast on differently but your way is much better, and also the cast-off, I used to knit 2 together and return the stitch on the left needle, but again, your way is better. Thank you. I have also been making dish cloths, my son and daughter-in-law like the knitted ones, and I wanted to try a different pattern. I haven't tried the one you demonstrate, and I am doing that one right now. Again, thank you.
I’m new to knitting and have been looking for quick, easy projects I could use to practice that aren’t just boring garter stitch. These dishcloths are perfect! Just finished my first one and am making more for holiday gifts. Thanks for this great tutorial!
This is my favourite stitch for dishcloths. I had forgotten which one it was but so glad I found your video again. Your videos, tutorials and ideas always come when I need them. Thanks Norman! - Nicolle
wow, this is gorgeous, even just for a discloth. I love that it's not garter stitch as I'm not a big fan of garter stitch. even though I'm a knitter myself, I too love watching people knit, the way you knit is very fluid, and it makes it very therapeutic.
Awesome video,You made it look easy, I am left handed so for me it will be a reverse way of knitting where it looks like I am purling.Thank You very much and I am looking forward to learning more.
I haven't knitted fir several years. I came across your channel and saw how you were knitting and purling. I'm going to try and learn😅 it looks easier on the hands Thank you.🎉 😅
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of knitting with the world! You are a great teacher and I am enjoying your videos that I just found today after reading about gauge on your blog! ! I just came back to knitting after many years - I am basically self taught and although I used many various pattern books in the past and made lots of sweaters, scarves, hats etc. I never felt confident as a knitter. I love the way you teach and hope to learn a lot from you. Many thanks!
Norman, I'm so happy to have found your channel. I've crocheted a long time but recently won some fingering yarn and wanted to learn knitting. I started watching your videos last night and believe I'll start on the potholders today. Thank you 🧶 💗
Thank you soo much for everything you do!! I appreciate you so much and I really enjoy learning from you! I, in this moment, just finished my first dishcloth! I am soo proud! Again, thank you soo much! 😄💞
I would like to thank you for your tutorial. The Insomnia Faerie came for a visit last night so this was perfect for me to follow along with and actually do something productive besides sitting up all night watching tv, lol. I used small DPNs, don't even know what size, but I think what I created will be the perfect size for bathing my brand-new niece who is due to arrive any time this month. Thank you for being so inspirational!! Happy knitting from Virginia!
I can't wait to try this and learn and practice the moss stitch. I just made all the coasters to practice my purl and knit stitch. Love your videos! So helpful and encouraging!
You make this look so smooth…love your technique 🩷 Can you do a really slow motion showing how you wrap & catch your working yarn in both the knit & purl? I’m a newbie.
Norman (NimbleNeedles) I appreciate your help I find that watching and then attempting is my best bet for learning . You have explained and shown me and I enjoy your videos Thank you from a Montanan ❤
awesome! And remember, I keep on saying, it's a dishcloth not a ball gown. So if there's a minior little mistake here or there, it doesn't really matter, right? :)
Very nice dishcloth! Such a pretty stitch and easy too! I love making dishcloths. Nice and relaxing! I always twist my stitches when doing the knitted cast on. I’ve done it both ways but prefer to twist them. Just a personal preference I guess. Thanks for another great tutorial!🤗🤗
I just rewatched this tutorial and read my comment. What I meant was that I do the knitted cast on the same way you did for the loop. I guess I wasn’t clear, lol.
I am getting the yarn tomorrow. I think this will be a good project to re-learn the pear stitch. Having been a mostly self-taught continental knitter, i looked at your better pearl stitch video and you finally did my version, I twist my peal stitches… But I think when I get to lace work that is more than YO, I might be in trouble. I have no problems with 2 color knitting but it might be a good time to develop a better habit. These dish cloth/hot pads might take awhile lol. But better now than never. Yes you can teach an old dog new tricks!😂
I am really enjoying your videos. You are always so clear with instructions and examples. I'm just a beginner and I want to make a scarf for my first real project. So far I have made swatches of different stitches well basically the knit and purl stitches. Would you recommend the Moss stitch for making a scarf?
Thank you, prettiest dish cloth I’ve ever made! I have a question for you. I am going to give a dish cloth as a gift. I made it with cotton yarn. Would you wash it first or not? I’m thinking no but would love to hear your opinion. ☺️
Hmm..two of the colors are currently no longer available. Only the stark blue but as I am currently on the road, I can't tell you. Just look it up on the website. There is only this one tone
sure, you could use the same pattern for a baby blanket. Though, you might want to skip on the hanger (or maybe even not, could be handy nevertheless): Can't tell you how many stitches you need to cast on tho. Hi Norman. How should I modify it if I want to size up this pattern? For example, if I cast on 64 stitches, then row 6 will be K6, *K1, P1*, K6 (multiply by 2)?

Sorry for my earlier comment. Kindly look at the pattern again. There are two versions: one with moss stitch and one with double moss stitch. They have different cast-on requirements. That is so kind of you Marelene. Sharing is always much appreciated!
A dischloth not a ball gown!! Love that, and that will be my mantra every time I mess up. Thank you!
it's a healthy attitude - unless of course, you are planning to attend a ball with a dishcloth :P
Love you voice. I met the nicest guy. Had a voice like yours and he would always say "You mean cookie." 🎉 thanks for the pattern

This is my favorite dishcloth pattern! I finished it with the long tail bind off which matches nicely to the cast on. Thank you Norman!

I personally wouldn't. YOu could steam block it. But washing cotton will often wear it out a little bit.
Like your tatural
thank you Bernda :)

Hi can I knit a baby blanket in this pattern s and how many for baby blanket thank you
sure, you could use the same pattern for a baby blanket. Though, you might want to skip on the hanger (or maybe even not, could be handy nevertheless):

hello Norman how much cotton yarn is needed for 1 dishcloth? Would 50g. be enough?
Norma
yes, should be enough (i mean depending on the weight :P)
Hi Norman. How should I modify it if I want to size up this pattern? For example, if I cast on 64 stitches, then row 6 will be K6, *K1, P1*, K6 (multiply by 2)?
you could do that. It really boils down to how wide you want the border to be. You could do 6 knit stitches or keep the 3 :)
@@NimbleNeedles Thank you.
❤
When you cast on 32 , is that counted one row?
depends but most patterns won't count the cast-on as a row.

Hey Jennie, well you have to fill out the download form, etc. It should be right there on my blog, first link in the description... :)
I can't find anywhere the size this pattern makes. What's the measurements finished? Does it come out 8x8 for example?
