I did confirm with Newbeedrone that the soldering iron is tempeature-controlled. And they say they will be including a prop tool with the kit, but it didn't get included in the reviewer kit because they were still sourcing it at the time the reviewer kits went out.
@@nxls8667 I use a TS100 as my only soldering iron. I have a stand alone Hakko soldering station that I never used since getting the TS100. The TS100 performs better (on 24V / 6S lipo) and I like that I don't have a big station taking up space on the bench.
... and I went through all your videos 2 days ago for soldering irons and tools, and ordered everything already.. Damn it Mr Bardwell! But I learned something today too ❤️
I have been slowly building my collection of build tools. I have spent over $50 buying what I need from different places and I still need true hex drivers. This kit is absolutely a good deal and Newbeedrone has really been impressing me with trying to bring quality, value and thoughtfulness to the customer.
Agreed. Picked one up when they first came out. As you go on to explain, as well, I add a prop socket wrench, small Philips screw driver, some small assorted various sized accessories...and amazingly it all fits in their wonderful case.
It's a really great toolkit. I've used mine several times in the field as well as on the bench & can confirm that the soldering iron is really good. No trouble using 3S LiPos to power it; works well. NewBeeDrone also sells an AC adaptor for it, too. 👍🏼
You could also grind down the tip of that 8 mm wrench to make it a lot thinner which is what we do at work to adjust our brakes on our AC servo drive motors!
Hollow handle metal hex drivers are good for putting your soldering iron in after you've just turned it off but don't want to wait for it to cool down before packing it up. The hex driver's handle will soak up & disperse the heat still in the iron nicely without burning/melting anything, so long as the iron doesn't fall out.
@Helper Bee I also tested powering my TS100 to 300C whilst it's sat in the handle of a hex driver, the handle got to around 50-60C, so if you stick it in the ground it could be used as a makeshit field holder, then after just leave it there with the iron in to cool down. I created a better solution for storing solder, spools that sit in empty Tic Tac boxes: www.thingiverse.com/search?q=tic+tac+solder+dispenser
I disagree, That little screwdriver is THE BEST addition, considering NBD's best known for their Bee Brain Whoop lineup, that makes it the most used part of my kit. It's also perfect for hitting bind buttons on boards and DJI stuff. Also, the NBD staff told me that little green guy is an antenna buddy, he lives on your antenna.
I bought this kit the other day after watching this vid. Great kit.. soldering iron was really fantastic.. for 3 days.. and now it struggles to melt even thin solder. Sigh. Hoping they will replace, but im wary of its durability now.
Just had mine arrive. Were out of prop tools need to place another order and will recieve it with the order... too bad this was the only thing I needed from their shop
nice, ive been flying pretty hard lately and keep break or making stuff or making things come loose in the field, having a little poach that has everything in i need sounds pretty appealing
I actually love the little phillips screwdriver, in addition to tiny whoops being almost entirely tiny phillips (it is NBD after all) its also super annoying when something like the camera back screws or some little thing comes loose and you can never get it to work with the normal size bit.
Between the standard 8mm wrench and the screwdriver style grip 8mm wrench I prefer the screwdriver style. I’ve noticed that with a regular wrench I have enough leverage that I can over tighten the nut and mess up the threads. The screwdriver style keeps me from do that.
50ml spray bottle filled with water, cleaning cloth & kitchen towel sheets in a Ziplock bag should be an addition to everyone's quad backpack, it's what I added to mine because if I ever land in mud or worse, I've got something to clean my quad and my hands with.
@@rijal71469 I've seen some stores where shipping is like $50! I didn't even check in this case. I Actually have most of the things in it but I like that you can put all this into a case and take it out when flying, instead of putting it all into a random box (and you can't take a soldering station with you lol)
Do you have any tips or tricks for just getting in the hobby? I’m 14 years old and I have a DJI spark and a spry +. I really want to get into the hobby of sport drone piloting but I need a drone. @@JoshuaBardwell Unless your mom lets you fly in the house, then perhaps a NewBee Drone RTF kit, that bundle is stinkin' rad. You lose the brushless power, but you gain a transmitter that you can plug in to your PC and use for simulators.
@@JoshuaBardwell Thank you! The problem is the whole drone is covered with grass, not just the lens. I wonder if grass may damage all that boards, wires etc? I'm learning to fly FPV over the grass and I crashed or landed dozens of times in the grass already...
Hey JB (and anyone else who wants to chime in), what kind of analog video gear would you suggest for flying in densely wooded/mountainous terrain? I've got 75 acres of off-road trails I want to fly but once I'm like 20 feet in all I get is snow. Running a 600mW VTX with axii antenna and Skyzone 03O's with patch & omni, would a Rapidfire module be the way to go?
@@JoshuaBardwell I'll definitely double check that. It's an eachine tx1200 which is supposedly capable of 1W but from what I've seen, 600mW is where it's output is actually consistent. I'll probably end up trying a new VTX too to be sure.
I have a problem with my taranis x9d plus while I am give throttle also the yaw moves a little bit and I don't now what to do it is a brand new taranis

Do you think that a Ts80 or Ts100 can be used as your only soldering iron?
the small screwdriver is for camera hoods on the micros JB.
I think there may be extra bits in the screwdriver.

Hey , thanks for the heads up on this kit. Just purchased and received it already... Nice kit.
That really small Phillips head screwdriver make sense for working on whoops

That weak screw driver is also a flat head I believe. The screw bit screws out if I'm not mistaken 🤔

The sh72. That’s what I spoke about in your last video. £9 on Banggood
Awesome tool video! Do you have a link to a good hemostat you prefer? Thanks.
Solder says tin/lead, but lists the composition of lead free solder on the same line. You would want to add a no-clean flux pen too.
I love it when I buy something and get a little toy tossed in! I collect them! I call it "the legion of lost bois"

Water is easier to get, but Isopropyl Alcohol is a bit safer for electronics.
Don't use the tweezers to push the pinhole button on a DJI Air Unit.
Right, Mr Bardwell!? ;)
Wow I did not know they had this great video

BTW. ... are they your hands?? 🤔😉

What electric driver do you use for drones? Thought i saw a big yellow drill at some point

Very nice kit to start with. The total comes to $62 after tax and shipping. Any other cheaper but reliable option out there?
Can you put together a pro kit and tell why those tools are better?

I don't know the part number. I picked it up off Amazon.

I've gotten M2 stack screws with a philips head instead of hex, so that might be what it was for.

Great toolkit!
The screwdriver is for tinywhoop canopies and motor screws
Is the small Phillip's for tiny whoop motors? Also side note, if I dont get one of those funny little green guys in mine I will low key be kinda sad

That, my friends, is lead-free solder. Chuck it away.
