Prices are only a part of my decision making process, Carnival ranks high on Government Incident reports on a consistent basis. I am glad they are making strides to address the problems, but as long as I have a choice, I will spend my time and money elsewhere.
It was truly wonderful and exciting meeting you and Rose on the Celebrity Beyond. Your coverage of the restaurants, entertainment, bars, and excursions are point on. I loved the layout of the Beyond and look forward to sailing her again after experiencing the Carnival Celebration in August. Thank you for being kind, stopping to say hello. Hopefully, I will have a chance to meet Alyssa and Baby Griff on an upcoming cruise. I love your content. Please continue to keep us informed. Happy future travels.
We only paid $1178 for 3 people on Celebration for May Cruise. We get $200 obc. That includes insurance, gratuities and port fees and taxes. That is for Balcony.
Sailed on the Beyond end February/beginning March. Great ship loved it and our sailing had very few children, I believe it is the time of the year whether or not there are lots of kids.
Great video! We are going on the Edge this summer for a Mediterranean cruise and trying Celebrity for the first time. We have cruised mostly Carnival and we still love them but are looking for a change of pace. Appreciate the information about the ship and the vibe . Can’t wait to see what you think of Eden specialty dining. I heard about Eden having some breakfast items and lunch items from a Parodeejay video.
I never pay for excursions to the beach through the cruise lines. Once you arrive at port, you can always get a taxi to the nearest beach. I also recommend to go to local tours, viator or search online and get a tour that will be much less than the cruise line tours.
I am sailing on the Beyond on April 9. I have been wondering if I should upgrade the drinks package. After seeing your video, I am going to upgrade tonight! TY for the informative & entertaining video!

Fine Cut on this class, Tucson on the Solstice and Millennium class. I tried both. I don't know. They're both specialty restaurant very good. The best restaurant on Beyond or Ascent is Daniel Bouluds and on Solstice is Murano. Those are extraordinary.
Really fun review. I've been SO tempted by the Celebrity Edge class, but with only one exception - Carnival's Mardi Gras - I sail out of NYC. So unless they bring one of those ships up my way, looks like a no-go. I'm looking forward to hearing more about Eden. I remember when they first introduced the concept, it was... not particularly well received, as the shows featured in the area were kinda over the top/weird. I will say I both get and kinda love the whole "every bar has different drinks" thing. Much like with specialty dining, I love exploring cocktail menus. I'm doing Celebrity Summit in June and have already, via the app, been perusing bar menus from some of the different venues.
It depends on what ship and itinerary you travel with on Carnival. I have never paid more than $700 for a cruise on the Carnival Vista for an Ocean view room.
Hello from Ft. Lauderdale! I was on the Celebrity Reflection this past January and my drink package covered all drinks up to $12. I got some drinks from the World Class Bar and from the Martini Bar. Over my 8 day sailing I had no extra charges on my bill. Maybe that has changed now. Idk.
I love Carnival but have to admit I love Celebrity. They are definitely a premium brand. As you said based on price and ship. A+ and Top Notch! Eden and Roof Top Grill... Delicious!!! Carnival is Fun but Celebrity is for a more mature Experience!!! Love them BOTH!!!
Are they actually comparable rooms? The $3200 carnival rate was for an ocean view spa, which I believe includes full access to the thermal suite. (Plus, ocean view vs inside).
Was that Orient beach you went to on the French side? If it was too bad about the seaweed it’s such a gorgeous beach. Carnival is the fun ship, most people cruise Carnival to have fun and once you cruise it a few times they give you pretty good offers to come back. My husband and I have not paid Ed for our room in our last 4 bookings, just tax, port fees and gratuities etc.
Grifffffffffffffff. Miss you guys. Surprised at those reviews. Looking forward to yours. Oh you made this still on the ship. This is why I don’t get why they call Carnival the Walmart of the seas. Yes they have amazing rates but regular prices are like other lines. Don’t consider Carnival luxury but they have improved the overall look of their last few ships. Wow. Beautiful spacious interior cabin. It’s the art for me. Yes Griff. Some toilets angled so wrong and we have to sit at an angle to save our knees. 😂. Agreed. Pool looks a nice size. Wow. The food looks amazing. No mic 🎤 issue for us. Hear you fine. Chair hogs even on Celebrity 😂. It’s universal. So if have the drink package for $10 drinks and the good ones $17 we would pay the difference with gratuities of course? Captain Kate 🙌🏼. The Grand Plaza looks so crowded. Oh yes. My husband got his glasses buy 1 got 2 free. They are nice. Thank you. Excursion time. Ok. Hot bus. Poor speakers. Locals selling merch. Meal and 2 drinks. Poor WiFi. Seaweed. Nudist. 😂. Not for $109. Glad St. Thomas and DR was better. Griff. This was an amazing video. Informative and to the point. Very detailed. Love it. Well done. Thanks so much. The Beyond is calling me. Carnival will never be considered a luxury cruise to me. As you know, I was on the Beyond a week (or two?) before you. It was my second time with Beyond, but the first time on a full itinerary. Overall, I think for the price you got it for in comparison to Carnival's rates is pretty spectacular.
I agree! I’m almost certain after further review it was due to supply and demand for Carnival cruises during spring break for many college students and families with kids being out of school. It skyrocketed the price making Celebrity the better option IMO. I could be educated differently though.
When I price Carnival cruises they are more expensive than Celebrity, Holland and Princess. But I have friends who always tell me how cheap they get Carnival but I never see it….
Well guess my thoughts was to book Celebrity during spring break, but this cruise looked like a lot of spring breakers. For sure going to try in the near future. Ship looks nice.
I sailed on Celebrity Apex in Feb. this year and absolutely had the best vacation of my life! The entire staff was amazing, the food incredible and we enjoyed the shows and excursions a lot. I think we would try the off board excursions next time for more flexibility. The comedian we had by the way had an early show that was much more PG than the late night show that was for a younger crowd I feel. There was a lot of games and activities and I also would recommend the cabana on sea days when the pool can be a bit crowded. There was a rock show that was awesome and yes, that martini bar was spectacular. Can't wait to go again! Great review! I want this job! 😂
I have really good offers through Carnival so I don’t see any celebrity cruises that are cheaper in anyway possible… never spent anywhere close to $3200. Just sailed on celebration for under 1k for two people in a Havana cabana with $500 of OBC and had free gifts delivered to us the whole week for no apparent reason….I love carnival for its atmosphere, variety and nightlife. Celebrity has great quality food and is classier so that’s super nice! But I don’t compare celebrity to carnival because they are two different experiences, each experience I may enjoy differently than the other and just as worth it.
Are your prices because of casino offers? Because I spent much more than that for my upcoming cruise. I have a balcony. What you're stating doesn't seem like the norm. Especially the $500 of onboard credit. How long was this trip?
@@essenceofsoul27 it was a seven day western Caribbean cruise on carnival celebration March 19-26, 2023. Not a casino deal, I don’t gamble it’s like setting money on fire to me hahaha but I do tend to spend a lot in general on specialty dining, excursions etc. and I cruise frequently with carnival so perhaps I just get really good deals with them?
@@NewEnglandCaity Really??? Teach me your ways lol My room for 2 was $4500 for a balcony. Part of that price may have been because I booked "last minute" (2 weeks ago for a July trip), but I'm definitely not seeing the great deals I used to for cruising. I will say it's my first Carnival cruise. Unfortunately the excursions I wanted were all booked up by the time I booked, but I will more than likely do specialty dining.
I definately love the upscale of Celebrity. The food especially much better than Carnival. Less hectic for sure. During Spring break you will definately find more kids.
I'd call Celebrity an elevated cruise line more than luxury, from the videos I've seen. Definitely not "kid forward" so we won't be able to try it until our little birds leave the nest. Also, there is a large swath of sargassum that's floating in the Caribbean currently. So big it is visible on satellite imagery.
Griff, I love you and Alyssa. But, most people have been on these cruises and excursions. If you want to grow your channel, show us something we haven’t already done or experienced on other channels. Nothing but love for you brother!
I sailed on Celebrity Edge in July 2021 after the cruise restart. I stayed in The Retreat. It was good, a little too “elevated” for my taste. I prefer NCL. Won’t be sailing Celebrity again any time soon. By the way, Carnival CL is not luxury. Entry level at best!!
Celebrity was a Chandris line. That's what the X is, Chi in Greek. The product was established when Royal Caribbean bought them. Some aspects of the line is shared with Royal Caribbean but others were established long before Celebrity was purchased. So, it's not quite a direct thing in that it wasn't dreamed up and planned by Royal Caribbean. RCL also owns Seabourn, a luxury-level line that has quite small ships. That also was an established line they purchased.
@@benjaminsmith2287 I realize Celebrity wasn't built from the ground up by Royal Caribbean, but if you think about it, in a manner of speaking, the current iteration of Celebrity was. Their success has been due to the investment and management by the parent company, Royal Caribbean. None of their current fleet would exist without that.
@@sosaix3545 Yes, or Carnival may have purchased them. I see some RCI influence in the tall seats and such. I think the Solstice ships seem more Celebrity and I'm not sure about the Edge class since they wanted to change Celebrity's style somewhat. There's still some of the original Celebrity touches and style and content. Things like Greek Captains and provocative art and limited announcements and a French head chef. My guess is corporate RCI approves but doesn't necessarily dictate the content in their Celebrity brand.
Sailing on Celebrity Beyond in 2025 and staying in a suite on the aft. Booked in 2023. So looking forward to min to no children running all around. First time on Celebrity. Celebrating 22nd wedding anniversary.
I watch a lot of cruise channels including yours and as you have just become a dad I can imagine money is tight.......A number of people have got in contact with cruise channels after booking and paying for a cruise with NCL and there is a problem with their booking service.........They customer might have spent $4000 all up and then they add a shore excursion and rather than the account stating you don't have enough money and you have to add more money, NCL just takes your $4000 and says it's your problem for booking a shore tour etc that you can't afford.....People have had to get in contact with consumer advocates because when they phone the cruise line they are being told that that is the cruises policy and too bad, so sad.......Consumer advocates have gone in hard on this computor problem but I just want to make sure you don't lose $4000 plus on an issue that seems to be the computor booking service problem but they are trying to rip off the customer and just taking their money because of a discrepancy.
Naw cuz. Don’ts do it! Carnivals serves better watermelons 🍉. And on Carnivals you cans goes to da food buffets in yo pajamas yo. Carnivals is da bombs Holmes!
Carnival is nowhere near a luxury cruise. I'll never sail with them again. They are nowhere near the quality of Norwegian or royal. Food is just meh. Entertainment was just bad and sloppy. I can't understand why people sail carnival at all. It could have been the ship we were on but nope. We will stick with RCL and NCL.
Comparing Celebrity to Carnival doesn't have any sense at all. They are different products for different clientele ... come on Griff, you are supposed to be a cruise vlogger so act accordingly
Lol then explain Why Carnival prices are higher than Celebrity prices? Do carnival people have larger budgets than Celebrity? Is Celebrity now a budget line and carnival isn’t? Let me know =]
@@GriffandAlyssa that háppens only with the XL Class (Mardi Gras and Celebration) and it's just besarse those 2 ships stand out of the offer that Carnival presents to its clientele. Not to mención that Celebrity is not a "luxury" cruise line, it's a premiamos cruise line.
@@willychili Agree to disagree my friend. Five Celebrity Cruises ships won Forbes Travel Guide 2023 Star Awards, marking the debut of ratings for ocean cruise ships. It's a worldwide rating system for luxury hotels, spas and restaurants. That award from Forbes technically placed Celebrity in a "Luxury" category whether we agree with that or not. The point I was making in the video is in fact I got a luxury cruise for less than a carnival cruise which are technically suppose to be the more budget friendly option whether it's XL or not... But Carnival also won "peoples choice". So with that demand Is Carnival adjusting itself in the market , are they pricing themselves more competitively despite not offering a luxury experience. Bunch of questions =) Either way Interesting right =)
@@GriffandAlyssa Forbes doesn't know ship categories then. Celebrity is a premium mass market cruise line. They're even a half-rung below Cunard. Lux category is Silversea, Seabourn, Viking, Regent Seven Seas, most of the lines like this with much smaller ships, mostly all-suite ships, and often all-inclusive ships with little to none of the nickel dime stuff you see on Celebrity. Celebrity, Holland America, Princess and Virgin are considered premium lines. Carnival is the fun cruise that may have a more element class of ships here and there but they're not in the same category as the premium cruise lines. Some of these categories have gray areas but they used to be based on passenger space ratio and crew to passenger ratio. Now, they kind of base them on what the premium category doesn't have like slides and roller coasters and more family stuff. Ship decor tends to seem a bit more upmarket on the premium lines as well.
Carnival is not a Luxury cruise line, but neither is Celebrity. They are both mass market lines. Celebrity is a a more premium line, but certainly not a Luxury line.
Yup. And Celebrity is making itself less premium. All that activity in the Martini Bar is just too much. Pool bars and some lounges should be noisy but the Martini Bar should be a chic area. When Celebrity introduced them they were chic and then they started having juggling bartenders. It proved popular and they kept making the areas bigger and bigger. But now it hits the martini bar and the upper levels of the "Grand Plaza" and people in Cafe al Bacio or Raw on 5 or Le Petit Chef are forced to hear just everything that goes on down there.
What do you think? Is Carnival a Luxury Cruise line now? Would you sail on Celebrity or Carnival with those prices?
Celebrity for sure. If prices are lower then Carnival.
I'd definitely have jumped on this ship. Hopefully sooner than later!
Prices are only a part of my decision making process, Carnival ranks high on Government Incident reports on a consistent basis. I am glad they are making strides to address the problems, but as long as I have a choice, I will spend my time and money elsewhere.
This is an insult to the Celebrity name. Carnival will never be luxury.
No
People have been comparing them to being the Walmart of the Seas so maybe they are trying to prove a point.

Thanks for sharing!
But NCL has the Haven. I don't like ship within a ship stuff. It's like having classes of people on a ship.
Celebrity is the Lexus to Royal Caribbean's Toyota. That's how to think of them.
interesting point! Thanks for sharing.
The price is good. They are just too laid back for me. Maybe when I get a little older 😂
Need that energy huh!
I watch a lot of cruise channels including yours and as you have just become a dad I can imagine money is tight.......A number of people have got in contact with cruise channels after booking and paying for a cruise with NCL and there is a problem with their booking service.........They customer might have spent $4000 all up and then they add a shore excursion and rather than the account stating you don't have enough money and you have to add more money, NCL just takes your $4000 and says it's your problem for booking a shore tour etc that you can't afford.....People have had to get in contact with consumer advocates because when they phone the cruise line they are being told that that is the cruises policy and too bad, so sad.......Consumer advocates have gone in hard on this computor problem but I just want to make sure you don't lose $4000 plus on an issue that seems to be the computor booking service problem but they are trying to rip off the customer and just taking their money because of a discrepancy.
thanks for sharing!
This not cheaper than Carnival. I have been on different length cruises. You looked in the wrong place.
I never paid that much for carnival, 1,800.00 a person is too much
I was shocked at $3,200 for an interior cabin with Celebration
I was shocked at $3,400for an interior cabin with Mardi Gras
Naw cuz. Don’ts do it! Carnivals serves better watermelons 🍉. And on Carnivals you cans goes to da food buffets in yo pajamas yo. Carnivals is da bombs Holmes!
We don't drink adult beverages, guess we wouldn't have any fun on a cruise..
Relaxation is fun =]
Nothing you can show us on any ship will make Carnival luxury, nothing 😮
lol
😂😂😂😂
Let me guess… the dangly bits lol?
Carnival is nowhere near a luxury cruise. I'll never sail with them again. They are nowhere near the quality of Norwegian or royal. Food is just meh. Entertainment was just bad and sloppy. I can't understand why people sail carnival at all. It could have been the ship we were on but nope. We will stick with RCL and NCL.
Yikes bad experience I see!
Carnival is not a luxury cruise line
lol
Bunch of questions =)
Either way Interesting right =)
@@GriffandAlyssa Forbes doesn't know ship categories then.
Good point.
