Since a lot of people have mentioned it, the reason the framerate is "so bad" (I didn't think it was that bad, but whatever lol) in the beginning is because my software was accidentally capturing my monitor instead of the game window. And whenever it does that, the recording quality dips. The game ran perfectly fine from my perspective, but the recording was full of stutters. I did notice it when I watched the footage, but it was either scrap the video and play/record the game all over again, or just upload it. So I decided to just upload it. So yeah, it's not the game's fault at all. Thanks
That's not bad frame rate in my opinion either, yeah it's got a little chop, but I grew up having to play games with bad internet and 30 fps was extremely lucky. Enjoy the video, sorry people are being annoying in the comments.

This was so good! But I am confused about what the deal with Edwin was considering his notes and him teleporting around to stab the protag but then getting upset that we helped the dude considering the notes LOL. but very good!
I agree on all points. When you escape via QTE, it looks like the villain’s head does an Exorcist 360, which may be intentional but looks like a graphical glitch. The instructions on the book puzzle need to be clearer; every RUclipsr I’ve seen has needed extra time to parse what they were supposed to do, especially the part involving scanning the blank pages. And having Edwin say, “Why would you help him?” when _he’s_ the one who’s been stabbing you all night, the one who provided the instructions to _summon_ the thing, _and_ the one who told you following them was the only way to make him *stop stabbing you* was pretty bullshit. We helped “him” because you fucking told us to, Eddie! 🙄 Apart from that, I liked the game. The opening scene dialogue and animations were great, and the settings (trailer, funhouse, spook house, carnival grounds) were well realized and felt authentic. My takeaway is that they’ve got a good team working on the graphics and game design, but could use more time and/or a better writer for the story and puzzle instructions, or maybe just a beta reader to help them out. Still looking forward to Mortuary Assistant!
The VA is really nice in this one! Kinda with Mark had a bit more (animated) expression to match his voice, but it all felt real, making the game feel a bit more believable for setup! Also very intriguing to see the killer stabbing and consuming the knife contents. Adds a bit more of a “personality” to the killer
The complex character animation at the beginning of the game tempered my expectations to expect more dynamic scares, and while that didn't really come to fruition, it did keep me a bit more on my toes than most indie horror games, which I can respect. It's interesting how, even though the central gameplay loop of this game is pretty basic and similar to other games, that one misconception made me enjoy it a lot more. In hindsight, it really doesn't stand out that much, but my perception of it during the playthrough was completely different than most indie games because of that little attention to detail at the start. Horror games have such interesting psychology behind them.
The voice acting and animation in this one is really good and set the atmosphere so well that it managed to scared the hell out of me with the masked dude popped up! It got John too like damn ❤😂
If you read Bruce Campbell's books or do some research about the first Evil Dead. The reason it had a low budget (between $350,000-$400,000) was because Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi were in college when they made this movie and scrapped together the biggest budget they could work with from local investors, business owners, and so on. They were known in Michigan for their Super 8 movies, but they wanted to finally make their first ever feature length film and put their foot in the door of the film industry/Hollywood. Stephen King himself wrote in Twilight Zone magazine in 1983 that it was "The most ferociously original horror film of the year". With the budget these guys worked with, they gave it everything they got and it paved the way for their futures in Hollywood. I myself got the opportunity to meet Bruce Campbell just this past year at Comic-Con. He's a really great guy. I encourage you John to please watch the rest of the Evil Dead movies and series (in that order, movies then series), I think with an open mind you will find these movies to be something both special and awesome. As ways, love your videos and content. Keep thinking critically 🎧😈
For a side game to their main project this looked really good and I agree that the character animations were very well done. I liked the addition of the head snapping to you before he disappears and when he was stood in the fun house. I think him patrolling would have been cool to see, or at the very least actively hunting you when you make too much sound. I think it would have been too if sometimes when you return to the room he is waiting inside or could even have been hanging from the ceiling where the toys are kept, maybe? but I think this looked really cool and I enjoyed your playthrough John.
Recently started watching John so I've been taking in his older videos, and I'm quite pleased to see him get unnerved and startled by a game. I thought he was totally jaded for life. 😄
That was delightful! I like the atmosphere, and swapping between the book puzzle segments and sneaking around the fair grounds. I didn't understand the actual puzzle parts though. Wasn't totally clear, but it looked interesting.
Hope to see more from this developer. It's great that developers came together to help get more visibility for their deserving work. And thank you John, for playing this and highlighting the developers.
I think the game has a cool setting but the fact that there is no real AI and you just get locked into a QTE in random intervals making crouching/turning the flashlight off completely useless kind of sucks
Yeah, it could really do with an actual patrolling AI as well as maybe making the quick time events a lot harder so it’s more of an occaisional save instead of making it so easy to avoid taking damage.
Same thoughts. Surprised John seemed to like it. The setting was fun and it had a decent atmosphere, but the gameplay is virtually non-existent. It's the same thing over and over again. I'm glad we live in a time where we can watch others test out games for us because I'd be pissed if I spent money on this and was bored within the first 15 minutes.

Wow. From an interesting opening to an interesting ending. Dude in the mask sure did get around. This would be a great story to have more background information on. And, one where there should be a good conclusion. Maybe Trevor could get some redemption in being able to stop what he accidentally released and to be able to find out how Mark got possessed? It'll be cool if we did.
Mark isn't the one who got possessed. That's why Trevor thinks it's him and then goes "Wait, who are you?" The Masked Man is actually Edwin, who was the researcher leaving notes about how to decode the book. The Masked Man drinks your blood, which seems to imply that once it drinks all of it, the host dies and you become the next host and thirst for blood to restore yourself. Edwin's notes are incomplete towards the end and it's clear that he figured out the book shouldn't be completed; he only finished one page for you. He made the decision *not* to finish the book and instead sacrifice himself to keep the demon sealed, which leads to him asking you why you would help the demon.
@@straysheep4467 True. I just chalked that up to the, demon? Vampire? Not really sure honestly. Being in control and casting off a different vibe. Same looking model and the voice at the end didn't really sound different. From the blood on the notes and the researcher being bled to death, it didn't make sense it was 100% him. Also the fact that it seems suspicious that the mask is the same, Mark's body is never discovered, and it was like he set Trevor up to find the book. Hence, why I believe we need more history because there is a good and interesting story that needs flushed out and better explained.
I'm sure having some mechanic of him stalking you would be better like you said, but I will say that the jumpscares were super effective the way it was done! I know this video is older but for anyone who is curious about the difference between the pentagram and the pentacle: Pentagram- inverted star, symbol of the devil. Pentacle- star with circle, represents 4 elements and the spirit.
The dude at the beginning was named Mark? Who was Edwin? Haha. Great game though. The edgelords voice actor was also pretty good. Close to G-Man vibes. Haha.
This giddy masked guy reminds me of The Jester from a halloween short on RUclips called... The Jester. Dressed well, appears outta nowhere, oddly excitable, and will eff you up after being so theatrical.
So your reward for facing your fears and solving a puzzle is learning your best friend betrayed you, and being stabbed to death and starting the apocalypse because you wanted to live. Way to fucking punish your players for beating your game, developers.
actually, the pentagram is the shape of the star and just means "5 lines" (while pentagon is 5 corners, so theoretically, the classic pentagon shape and the 5-sided star can have both names). i know that in german we have a name for the ritualistic symbol (drudenfuss), but according to the translations i found, it doesn't really translate onto anything else but the shape. also, the book is really a killer of pacing "we have now introduced to the scariness of this game, now let's read some lore and tutorial for the next 5 mins to a puzzle you're going to need several minutes to understand"
I'm gonna complain about my job way less cause even realistically in a split second planning out what to do I would absolutely dread ever having to be at the bakery I'm at alone and this happens.

"i got one last trick imma disappear later dude" LMAO
I always love your shutter sponsorship clips - it’s just so interesting hearing you share what you got into recently
My favorite piece of dialog 26:35
This is such a good game for being a part of a collection! Thanks for the video!
18:57 the Needles reference caught me off guard, but I'm happy to see John is a man of culture
I loved everything about this one! So excited for the Mortuary assistant
the mime's SPEED animation reminds me of those jumpscare clownies running around in emily wants to play series.
Take a shot everytime John says he gets it now lmaoo
I also want to applaud the voice acting within the game, especially for an Indie studio like this!
Thank you for another upload John! Each new video always makes my day :)
So your reward for facing your fears and solving a puzzle is learning your best friend betrayed you, and being stabbed to death and starting the apocalypse because you wanted to live.
Way to fucking punish your players for beating your game, developers.
There’s multiple endings
@@duzted Should tell John that, then.
@@idiom2805 kind of did when I left that comment.
The only thing that takes away all the tension is you can spam click to get away
thanks for making my saturday night feels less lonely, john. i'm on the edge of my seat while watching this.
You know its a good game when jumpscares get him
actually, the pentagram is the shape of the star and just means "5 lines" (while pentagon is 5 corners, so theoretically, the classic pentagon shape and the 5-sided star can have both names). i know that in german we have a name for the ritualistic symbol (drudenfuss), but according to the translations i found, it doesn't really translate onto anything else but the shape.
also, the book is really a killer of pacing "we have now introduced to the scariness of this game, now let's read some lore and tutorial for the next 5 mins to a puzzle you're going to need several minutes to understand"
I'm gonna complain about my job way less cause even realistically in a split second planning out what to do I would absolutely dread ever having to be at the bakery I'm at alone and this happens.
that jumpscare in the beginning got me so bad i hit myself in the face..... i hate my life
How do you know a game is good? 8:20 into the video John does not want to leave the comfort of his booth (despite having been stabbed in it) and says "Fuck off! I hate this!" 🤣
His "hehehe" reminded me of Jimmy.
Never ever seen John get this many jump scared
That was some freaking solid voice and animation work!
My first thought when I heard "Groovy!" was Earthworm Jim 🤣
Bro the villains voice actor went hard for this.
