- Myself, Sam and War tried out the Battle of Rorke's Drift mission in Born in the Fire: America and honestly it was pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the mod overall just mainly down to how janky some battles and missions can be, but the scenario was pretty good all things considered.

When warpig attempted those British accents as Bromhead he managed to get it into my subconscious, and now all i can picture is Michael Caine sounding the same. Thanks for giving us a video on this mod Rimmy, I love playing that scenario and is the main reason why I still have the mod downloaded, nice to see ya play it!!

Trivia: C/Sgt. Bourne was the last living survivor of Rorke's Drift, and he died on the day after VE Day (which might to some seem like a symbolic moment of Empire in itself).

I simply survived through a multi-layered defense network honestly the zulus never even worried me.
If Rimmy and Friends actually got their field fortifications set up properly then the Rorke's Drift part would have been even more one sided!
Nitpic here...but the rifles used by the British were not muskets. They were single shot breach rifles so they should be firing a lot faster.

If this is the first or second-time Rimmy played this mod, it took him a damn while. especially for a history buff, and I remember when I played that mission with friends I had 2 guys clip out of bounds and the Zulus had to hunt them down because they kept ruining away they fought till the end.
There is a lack of Sabaton here in the comments.

One thing that does bother me is the reload animation for the rifle seems to be the animation of a mussel loader while they would be using the Martini-henry which is a breach loader.
So the first part is basically the Kobayahshi Maru no-win scenario, just to set up the Rorke's Drift finale? Nice!
Immediately noticable that it isn't rimmy editing it but i feel like it's better than the previous ones with the sound effects removed

It was sung by the Royal Regiment of Wales band on the 120th anniversary of the battle of Rorkes Drift, in the very church at Rorkes Drift.
HOW DID YOU LOSE!?! Isandlwana was literally the *easiest* British victory since the encirclement of Washington at Yorktown! Good thing Rimmy isn't part of the royal family, or the July Crises might have ended with war instead of tea and crumpets...
I've been watching Rimmy's videos since he did Valkyria Chronicles 4. I still love how some moments come up as full fledged gems like Miko the Crusader and the misfire here.
Should definitely play more of this mod. Ps. Battle of Hampton Roads is a cool one

I'm fairly certain the Zulu did not get the guns from the British lmao. They had a bunch of old weaponry by the standard at the time prior to Isandlwana. The more modern guns they had were taken from the British at the Battle of Isandlwana which they went on to use at Rorke's Drift.
Trade with the Boers, and other colonials gave them guns.
Also by then they were handmaking some firearms too, can't forgot that. Some of those more traditional African early firearms are really cool and well designed.

@@CentralAftermath The Zulus were not making their own firearms, that's complete bullshit. Most Zulus held great disdain for firearms and regarded them as weapons of cowards. I don't know where he got his* information from.
Actually impressed how realistic that was. IRL, if I recall at least, the Zulus did get into the field hospital: at times the British troops were firing through the walls inside to kill enemy warriors the next room over.
Zulu has to be one of my favourite movies, and this mission did a fantastic job of recreating it! Super awesome to see
This mod is a ton of fun though open battlefield in multiplayer are kind of awesome it may take forever to get in contact but when you do it's awesome

11:46 The entire British high jumping team was killed in action because they jumped right into the roof and killed themselves. High Jumping was then considered too dangerous of a sport and promptly removed.
That in-game voicing reminds me of Total War Empire. I swear the way the British say "Your Majesty" and stuff like that sounds exactly like the other strategy game on my mind...And 4:39 "Prepare the Troops for Battle" is definitely one of those voice lines.

At the beginning when your troops where only returning fire when the Zulus got close is so they can just drop their rifles and pull out a knife, they are bri'ish after all

Little known fact that the Battle of Isandlwana was lost not necessarily because of overwhelming zulu numbers but due to infighting between british officers over a flag. That and poorly aimed ordnance.
Jaden Gray is a beast, dude runs out of ammo and proceeds to beat like 6 people to death then grabbing the Zulu's own weapons and attack them with it lol.
This is why the British army was so feared, because half the time it was just them messing around and the other half was them killing each other.

Somebody talking about the movie Zulu pointed out it's a battle where you can admire the courage everywhere; obviously the British standing against impossible odds get the glory, but it wasn't exactly fun for those Zulu warriors either, charging over open ground into modern gunfire. Also, the Mount and Blade: Napoleonic Wars mod called the Anglo-Zulu War was a ton of fun to play, basically a big survival match against bots where even a tiny handful of players like 10-20 could have a great time. And be horrifyingly racist, even by gamer standards, but hey.

Man such a Great mod. I wish this and other mods were some how ported to Gates of Hell: Ostfront. It would benefit from the better 3rd person mode, plus I’d love to play a dynamic campaign with these units!
