Almost impossible to figure out the first time but luckily once you know where you're going it's easy, another one just outside our town that has 3, 2 connect to each other so from some directions you literally have a back to back roundabout with no mini road between that everyone gets wrong even if they live there 😂

its easy once we know it. because then we don't rely on any of the instructions of the road. We just go by what we know we should do. They could remove all the boards, lanes and symbols and you'll still be able to drive in the correct lanes and go through it because you don't use them once you know them. But using them when you need to, i don't think the most people would manage without dvla calling their driving dangerous. The road is also in bad condition with lots of things drawing our attention. If the road was just one texture and colour, instead of 50 combinations of colour and texture, mixed in with objects like drains and cracks, the chance of success would increase quite dramatically. The road markings are also very faded. We get confused by those things as we need to process and recognise each and everyone of them unneccesserily. That's something most people won't admit but is true. At this point, they should just spray paint grafitti on the road and call it a day.

I went to the magic roundabout at Hemel Hempstead once. It has 6 mini roundabouts around 1 large roundabout. It was fun 😁 The Swindon one looks definitely harder to navigate though 😳

Drove this daily for my commute, it's actually very easy to navigate once you know it. If anyone is driving to Swindon for the first time I recommend planning your route to see if you encounter this and learn which lane you need.
The magic about the magic roundabout is that you can take every mini roundabout as just a roundabout, so you can go from one point to another by many different ways. Imagine trying to navigate this thing before satnavs were available! There exists some terrible road planning out there. My favourite is suddenly finding the 'correct' lane you were occupying suddenly turns into a left or right only. If you're lucky while trying to see if you're not violating various things like car pool and bus lanes you'll get one apologetic little sign telling you what lane is what and you can't see the arrows on the road because of, well, traffic.
My friend used to live in Swindon. He told me that no matter which way you want to go, always go right. That way you are always looking at who you have to give way to. You can get where you want by keep going right at each mini roundabout
The one in Hemel Hempstead is much easier to negotiate. The first time, yes, a bit daunting, but there's a centre island roundabout with trees and an underpass that stops you from seeing all the other mini roundabouts until you get to them. I found that easier to concentrate on each individual roundabout. The other thing is, people naturally go clockwise around the big, main roundabout, but if you go anticlockwise (but clockwise around each mini roundabout), you get to your exit quicker. Not sure if that would work in Swindon too! Not driven that one yet! Lived near Hemel for 3 years, so learned the tricks!
You should try and drive on the Coventry ring road. It makes sense to the people that live there but if you don't know it then you will get confused. It's also synonymous for being so difficult to pass your driving test so the people tend to go to Warwick to do their test because it's easier
