RM made this song because other rappers in the industry were claiming he can only make emotional songs with deep lyric and can’t flow or represent “real” hip hop. This is a diss to all the rappers who tried to disregard his talent just because he wasn’t doing the same repetitive shit everyone else was.
FACTS!
Yes, a diss to the buble-gum-rappers (he's imitating them with the 3-syllables words and he calls them a joke and he says at one point that this rap is meaningles wordplay because the rappers that are hating on him sing about meaningles things so he does the same thing) who claiming that he couldn't rap fast and he didn't look like a rapper/hip-hop-artist.
The objective of the song is to show the flows and RM's rapping talent. The rapper community in South Korea used to make fun of RM, Suga and J-Hope for being in a kpop group, calling them fake rappers and girls and for wearing make up and stuff. The whole song is a 'Joke' meaning the majority of the lyrics mean nothing, they are 'empty', just portraying the stuff rappers usually talk about, that is money, women, how good they are yadda, yadda, throw in some profanity and there you have it: a rap. In the end he says 'told you I am a monster' meaning even rapping about random, nonsensical s*** he's still better than those rappers. Hope this helps. No offense to other k-pop rappers, but the BTS rapline is pretty cerebral and they pull a lot from 90s rap and hip hop when the lyrics actually were about society issues, political issues, phylosophical concepts. Not something rappers do much of nowadays, tbh. Nowadays is all about how cool they are, the women they bang, the swag they have, etc. They can't even do diss tracks properly...😒

@@jamesrawlins735 No chance he can diss RM. RM will eat him alive or any Khip Hop rapper. The reason is simple RM has already has an experience in Khip Hop for a long time more than 16 years. He already knows what Khip Hop rappers level is & knows how far they can think. If Khip Hop was something special RM would never had been flipped to being Idol same goes for Suga too. They know Khip Hop more than anyone. They were top rappers in Khip Hop back in the days. Now it's impossible because the one who will diss his career will be on risk & no one will take that risk. It will do or die situation for other Rappers because "Do" will be on RM's side "Die" his opps.
There is a lot of bars and wordplay in the song that foreigners will never understand unless they look it up
Back when they first debuted, both RM and Suga were "invited" to a rappers forum. It didn't take long to figure out that they were there to be torn apart for "straying away" from underground rap. One of the rappers went into detail about how the whole thing about being idols is basically being girls. He went full force on them. The funny thing is, he is an American from Hawaii who goes by the name BFree. Of course, after RM released "Joke," and Suga released "AgustD," BFree linked back to Hawaii and hasn't done anything since. A few years after that night, BFree tried to apologize to both BTS and ARMY. But neither was having it.
As for the rappers of BTS, they are all amazing. RM, even though he is in the military right now, is releasing another solo album. But he also has a mix tape called "Mono" and a full album called "Indigo."
Suga has his mixtape called "AgustD," which, by the way, is Suga's other persona when he performs solo. He also has "D2."
J Hope can't be forgotten. His mixtape is called "HopeWorld," a tribute to J Cole. He is one of his favorite artists. His first full album is called "Jack In The Box," and where, as early on, RM has done songs with Wale (Change) and Warren G, (P.D.D.) J Hope on his album J.I.T.B. he was able to do a song with J Cole called "ON The Street." He even has a video for it.
Please keep in mind that they have around for 10 years, going on 11, and not only do they have solo albums and mixtapes, but they have solos on different albums. So there is a lot you need to check out...good luck and sorry this post was so long. But I hope the info helps you out.

BTS are based in Hip Hop and R & B bascially with the Rappers being the backbone of BTS.
Jungkook actually used to rap quite a bit in the early days! Jimin too rapped in Tony Montana with Suga. V and Jin do not rap normally although V would do anything to get to rap. He is the biggest fan of the rapline!
Yes, their roots are in hip hop. Definitely check out "Hip Hop Phile" which is like a homage to their rap inspirations...hip hip in general. The song goes by "Hip Hop Lover" as well. ARMYs love & support for BTS goes beyond what's considered "popular" music. There's always something for everyone no matter the genre . 💜

Of course, it's a diss track! He and Suga were called "girls" by a former underground fellow (and a lot of other bad things). Their first mixtapes are perfect dissing, they have a sharp tongue, and I love it!! (I'm 66, and I was taught by my mother to always answer people using the exactly same level they used against me.)

So RM (Kim Namjoon) wrote this in the style of stream of consciousness so it's nonsensical. It's not meant to make sense. At this time the conversations he'd been apart of had been about real rapping being fast and hardcore like.
