In an age where Jamaicans are crossing the Mexican border, we’re here arguing over Haitian asylum. Haiti’s problems are way above poor little Jamaica’s pay grade. My major concern is, what happens after we grant them asylum?

Jamaica or any other country offering asylum is not the solution to the crisis going on in Haiti. There is no question that if Jamaica, Dominican Republic or any other country grants these 37 human beings asylum, the flood gate will burst open. Focus on solving the crisis in Haiti and the migration of people will come to a trickle and/or solved. Finally, Jamaica’s first obligation is to protect its sovereignty and citizens.
