What happens to "every child can learn every child must learn" isnt this for every Jamaican child words cannot explain how I feel about our justice system this is so sad.I am happy that the childs' parents spoke out about it. We must embrace our natural beauty... they sell the image of rasta but not embrace them where os the sense in that.
Why it taken that long, I think as a Society we have gotten pass that type of discrimination because that’s exactly what it’s, you can’t denied a kid entry to a educational institution based on their hair style. This individual that was in charge shouldn’t alone to lead an institution, such as a school going forward, and if Jamaica government didn’t have clear law that make it clear that this type of behaviour isn’t acceptable, well bad on the government of Jamaican.
Its funny how one court say the school was right and another said it's wrong. Isn't it the same law book they use. Or maybe it's about the system causing we the people to spend more money.
So many things need to change for Jamaica to move forward. Me slowly a lose hope. Coming from slavery, I think our people would understand that your outer appearance nuh matter. Your character is more important. When are we going to start treating each other better? Lets forget about the lil trivial things, and focus on what's important.
As a child going to school in the 80s, I personally witnessed the principal turning back kids with locs. 😢 They were told they couldn't attend school, because they had lice. We eventually caught lice, but it wasn't from the rastas, it was from the so called bald heads. Even as a teacher in Jamaica, I was told I couldnt loc my hair, as the students may find it offensive. There is so much that needs to be 'fixed' in Jamaica. What's 'sauce for the goose, is not necessarily sauce for the gander.'
So what punitive damages will the school pay out for the level of discrimination the child and parents faced from that stupid decision that the school made?
Come on between 2000 and 2013 or 2014 the Director for Region 6 had her hair in locks. So that school falls in that region. The Principal was in my opinion a racist.
Her right to education would have been violated if ahe was not allowed to go to school because of her hair also if they discrimated against her because the entire school would have most likely known of her situation.
Jamaica is known all over the world because of Rasta. Go to some places and. Say anything about Bob Marley. U are asking for trouble. Outside of Jamaica. Think about that
This should have not reach the court the minister should have order the school to accept her
..and that little girl is heading to Campion College today, after being successful in the 2024 PEP exams.
Praise be to God!!!!!
Sad to say, but Jamaica needs a Crown Act!
Thank you queen for fighting for your rights

Exactly
That’s how that principal is, she thought she own Kensington primary and anything she says goes.
😮
Believe In Yourself Matters What They Think .
The PM don't have anything to do with a principal decision to stop a child's education
Can you imagine how much these people dunce like the people who have nothing to do
Stop talk what you don't know
Maybe you should reconstruct what you are saying. The PM do have say when it comes to education. Maybe you meant attire and not education
What are you talking about? Listen to the interview again and do some research on the topic

It's a shame jamaica still a deal with Classism😳 but alot up town people guh watch Bob Marley movie ana gwan like dem love Rasta
This is not fair if these people have money it would have been different. Years ago they would treatr Rasta real bad. Some wouldn't wear locks.

Can't relate to the lice thing but suppose a lot of that went on during that time.
IF the school is private you have a choice...leave them with them rules I would send my child somewhere else.
This is so sad and disgusting and disturbing bout we emancipated the principle should be ashamed
That principal have a ego problem and low self esteem. This is discrimination pure and simple
That principal was a very problematic person. Just ask anyone
