I am hoping to start the exact same degree as you very soon! Your videos are so helpful and inspirational to me. I am almost 33. No children yet but someday. I love kids, art, drama, reading, foreign languages and learning about other cultures. It took me a long time to figure out where I wanted to go with my life. I did some volunteering in community theater and thought “Wow! I love this! I want to work with kids this age.” A couple of years later and I am trying to go back to school. My favorite ages are from about 8-12. So I thought late elementary and middle school is perfect for me. I don’t know what subjects I will teach but I have 2 associate degrees from community college in graphic design and fine arts. I am working on improving fluency in Spanish and studying Punjabi. Thank you again!
Oh my goodness I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you! I somehow did not see this comment until today! I try to respond to everyone so I apologize for not getting back to you sooner!! That is so great that you have decided this is what you want to do. Kids are so great, put me in front of an adult and my mind shuts off and I am so uncomfortable and awkward, but put me with a group of kids and I feel so comfortable and myself! Have you gotten started yet or decided on a start date? Oh wow that is fantastic and knowing multiple languages is a huge benefit! Can you tell me more about Punjabi? I have never heard of it! And thank you so much for your kind words, they are very much appreciated!
I'll go back if you're my teacher *wink wink* lol. Thanks for the video, helps a lot to see how WGU works from an insider perspective and what can be expected.
Absolutely. I mean I understand that they need to make sure everything is covered but I personally feel like it was a bit excessive. Best of luck to you!
Thanks for these videos! I'm super excited to finish enrolling in wgu! I just applied a couple days ago and I'm hoping to start my B.S. in Accounting degree in March. These videos are very helpful to get a good idea of what ill be in dor once i start and what i can do to prep in the mean time
Hi Courtney! I just started looking into WGU. How was the B.S. in Accounting? I'm interested in that degree myself. Can you give an overview of how long it took you, what your thoughts on the course material were etc.? Would love to get your unique perspective!
Thanks for watching! I have several videos posted since this one. I actually just posted my most recent update a few minutes ago! Here's the link if you are interested! ruclips.net/video/isiXf9IRA2w/видео.html
Holy poop! 3-4 hour orientation? I'm still going through admissions, specifically waiting for my transcripts to be received/reviewed/processed. Can't wait to get past the administrative hurdles. So they don't let you use the webcam on your laptop/desktop if you have one?
Azzurri82 yeah it was pretty boring! Transcripts went pretty quick for me so hopefully that will all go through soon. No, the WGU webcam is a fisheye lenses so they can see almost the whole room and the front of your computer. The webcam on your computer isn't approved unfortunately. The webcam is included in your tuition so you won't need to pay a separate fee-- unless you break it. Best of luck to you :)
Joel Colon thank you! The readiness assessment wasn't too difficult. There were 4 different tests. If I remember correctly there was a math, reading, essay and just a short questionnaire. The math and reading took me probaably about 25mins, the essay about 45, and the questionnaire maybe 10mins. You dont need to take them all at once but once you start one you need to finish that one. They were all pretty straightforward nothing too difficult. Best of luck to you!
Thank you, I took them already and got through pretty quick as well. I will be starting in November. I feel good about this choice, let's see how it goes
Denisse Alexandra thank you so much, I appreciate it! Yes, you get a second chance for free, and I believe on either the 3rd or 4th try you have to pay a fee. Although, I'm not sure what the fee is. Hope this helps!
Denisse Alexandra and I will also add, that is for the objective assesment, which are the proctored, multiple choice exams. For the performance assessments, you also have options to send back tasks for revisions if you do not pass them the first time. I'm sorry I am not sure how many times you are allowed for the performance assessments.
Ok thanks! Please keep doing these videos of your journey and hopefully in the future teaching vlogs! I’m a mother of 2 myself and want to do this so I don’t have to leave them with anyone. You’re definitely an inspiration!
Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean the world to me! It is definitely challenging with 2 kids but so worth it because you can fit your schooling into your schedule! Not having to leave at a specific time to attend a class is pretty incredible! Good luck and please keep me updated on how you are doing with your classes, I would love to know!
Hi Harley Eyth! You have to use the supplied camera because is has a fisheye lens allowing the proctor to view you, your desk space, and the area immediately surrounding you. Your basic laptop cam does not give them a good enough view.

Im taking up healthcare administration and yes I hope I pass the first time I don't want to have to waste time. I hate tests but I will get through it

Same here. I found the orientation to be annoying due to the fact that I did a thorough check of the classes before the start of the term.
Absolutely. I mean I understand that they need to make sure everything is covered but I personally feel like it was a bit excessive. Best of luck to you!
Thanks!
True Teaching: My Journey what’s included in assessment test? Do I need to refer any material to take that test?
I will be starting in November 1st.

I've been officially enrolled for a little over a month and already feel like I made a great choice. Best of luck to you!
That's good to hear and thanks for the well wishes. Wish you all the best
Love your vids ! If you don’t pass the assessment do you get another chance to pass the class? And do you have to pay for another chance?

This girl is extremely beautiful. Sorry, had to be said.
Al Bundy thanks!
You remind me of Erin from The Office.
What are you doing with your hands while you record this? LOL Thank you for the information!
Thanks for watching!
Bednar Spurs
Anyone taking graduate ed classes there?
The orientation is annoying . I’m so over it
