This video is so helpful and very insightful ! I just started with WGU in the same program and I am looking forward to getting to this point but I am nervous as you said! I appreciate you taking the time to share your journey! best wishes to you!
Hello, Katie. I am also a WGU student in the ed program! I have been searching RUclips for vids on the student teaching experience to prepare, so this is perfect! Thanks for taking the time. With the addition of EdTPA, an overview of your preparation and experience with this would be great.
Thank you for sharing! Only wish I watched it over the summer to prep for my student teaching which is in full swing. Will check out the TPT site you recommended
This is very helpful! I just sent my request for PCE placement to the placement coordinator:) ; finished with all the courses and the exams. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much!! I am also a WGU student, entering DT this Fall. Where did you get the DT Checklist Sheet (also love)? I would also LOVE to see your edTPA binder! You're going to be an amazing teacher!
Natalee Mace wow thanks so much! That is such a compliment 😊 I got it from another student, drop your email and I’ll send it to you! I actually made the edTPA binder so go to my channel and you will find that!!😁 Thanks for watching!! Best of luck to you in DT this fall!
This is awesomeness!!! Great ideas. I’m also provisionally accepted and I haven’t even begun to put these things together. How did you get the TPA & other worksheets?
Thank you! The WGU site has a professional portfolio Q&A so the papers you are seeing here are not the actual course material, just some information :)
Thanks for sharing! Are you in the duel program or just SPED? I saw some really cute lesson planning specific lesson planners at Target if that’s something you are interested in.
Thank you for the information! I am getting ready to start Student Teaching in January so I am trying to learning as much as I can. I am also a WGU student completing the dual certification Sped/Elem. I would love to know how you've done with student teaching. Update if you can.
I had my Associate’s degree and that brought over 30-something credits (10 courses) but I was able to do the remaining classes (91 credits) in about 4 months! The methods classes were by far the easiest. Student teaching took another 4 months and I had to take a term break before that so it took about a year with WGU:)
So very awesome. I will begin wgu December 1st. Can you send me the to do list, your friend sent you? I love it. If so my email address is NancyWinningham43@gmail.com Thank you and good luck to you!
I just started my DT and I have been feeling sooooo lost!! I spoke with my clinical supervisor today about making my lesson plans, do you have any tips on that by any chance?
I totally understand the feeling! I actually made a video about how I created lesson plans called “Day in the Life of a Student Teacher | How I Lesson Plan & Stay Organized | WGU Student.” My best advice is to start with a standard and an outline and work your way through it! I like to look at teacherspayteachers.com for inspiration!
I went through the BASPEE (bachelor of arts in special education and elementary education), so it was a different program, but there were so many proctored exams. Maybe 20 or so?
