John Singer Sargent, Painting On Holiday

John Singer Sargent's Paintings On Holiday is a look at his work out from the studio into the open air, his success was destined from the start. Boundless energy and a commitment to excel was his gift. A superb draughtsman and a careful observer of momentary occurrences kept him fresh and alert to every opportunity to paint without hesitation. Sargent advised the young painter to seek to be an artist first then perhaps choose portraiture. He was generous to other painters and yet reserved. One of the true masters of painting and a gift to art lovers everywhere.

I am ravenous for information about JS Sargent. Thank you for creating this short video. I was an admirer when it wasn't cool to like realist painters. Now that he is back in fashion (and there is internet) so much more information is available to me regarding him. I did learn something new. I had never read or heard described his process for portraits before. This gave me great insight. Thank you so much. I look forward to more videos about Sargent and his contemporaries.
