  • Penang is a state located in the north-west of Malaysia, consisting of Penang Island and a small area on the mainland. Georgetown is the second largest city in Malaysia and also the capital of the island, and the oldest part of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its rich history, colonial architecture and cultural diversity.
Georgetown has one of the largest well-preserved areas of historic colonial buildings in the world, and I have to say that this marriage of countless small houses with red roofs and modern skyscrapers and buildings makes a really great impression.
During the colonial period under the British, the city developed as an administrative and commercial centre, which contributed to the cultural and architectural diversity. For example, you can see British townhouses, Chinese clan houses, Indian temples and Malay mosques, creating a unique urban landscape.
This is my second visit to Penang, where I specifically return with my camera to capture the gems of historic architecture and especially street art, which is of great interest to me and is changing all the time here.
