My 2.5 year old learned how to hop out of crib and it’s been a nightmare since then… once she discovered that running around was an option at night. We can’t get her to go to bed…. She acts like someone is torturing her when we try to get her to lay down… it’s been really tough

Hi, and thanks for your comment! When kids transition out of the crib before age 3 it can cause sleep disruptions. They lack the impulse control to stay in their bed. It can definitely be frustrating, but she can definitely learn how to sleep independently in a big bed. Here is a link to our Big Kid program which covers all of this in so much detail: www.babysleepmadesimple.com/big-kid-sleep-training

I put up a child gate so they cannot get out of the room. I hold my boundary. I also find with a cool toddler bed with sheets and blankets they like make it more appealing. I also have a camera so as soon as they got out of bed or crib I would meet them right there and put them back in bed without sayihng one word.

We have 2 year old and a 4 month old. Our 2 year old was an amazing sleeper but last few months not so great! Sounds like after watching this that it may be sleep regression (which she never had before). We have taken her cot barrier down, different night routines, different times to go to bed etc and no I’ve started a chart. She just won’t sleep without us in the room somehow. She now gets up every few hours to check and comes to our bed now. We are exhausted!

i have put him on a regular huge bed since he was a year old. he was feeling very bad in the crib and didn't sleep in it, also he's big and loves large spaces. when i put him on a huge bed, i started the night laying next to him till he falls asleep, then i would leave. now he's almost 2 but laying next to him is just adding 2 hours of nightmare to my life -_- he's crawling, trying to get down the bed, moving the pillows, standing up, playing with blinds, kicking here and there, i have a few broken bones - it's a joke but bruises i have. so today was my final drop-of-patience day. my husband's only response is "let's take him for a car ride" - i do it only when im hopeless. today i didnt do it. will try to put him to sleep earlier than 10pm :/ will take the first advice. hope it works. because he's always been a very quiet and ideal baby starting from pregnancy, and i hate myself that i get angry with him when he's going through a hard phase.

@@Babysleepmadesimple I’ve read your guide that you linked but it doesn’t really say anything about teaching her to fall asleep independently. Let’s take tonight as an example. We did our bed time routine, she went into her own crib and I had to lean over the crib and have my hand in her back until she fell asleep. I move the hand, she goes hysterical. What do I do? Let her cry it out? She was asleep by 8.20pm and up screaming at 10pm. I tried settling her again in her crib but no chance. It’s like she is possessed. Bashing herself against the walls, kicking and screaming until I took her in bed with me. Now she is happily asleep with her feet in my face...

Hi! Oh no, sorry to hear that! It sounds exhausting! I would recommend starting with our age base sleep guide/video above, which will cover all the basics and help manage expectations at this stage. Implement the guide for 2 weeks straight and you should see improvements.
      (THIS IS CRUCIAL).
In addition, make sure communication is the key of your process and besides of communicating the routine during the day, communicate your expectations of what you'd like her to do when she wakes up at night. Something along the lines of: "If you wake up at night, mommy will come to give you a kiss, but then it's time to go back asleep and we can cuddle/read/play etc. in the morning". You can make a song out of this or drawing/printable etc. and "learn it" during the day, for a couple of weeks and she'll know what to expect.
It is often useful to teach your LO how to fall asleep independently, this will lead for them STTN and thus improving sleep all around! If you'd like more detailed assistance on how to teach your LO this skill, our program 21 Days to Peace&Quiet walks you through the steps.
I will link the info below. I'd be happy to answer any additional questions about the program. Good luck mama! / Leena, BSMS Support Team

We have triplets. And there are mainly two problems. One is that one out of three takes a long time to fall asleep at night no matter what we try. And the other more serious problem is they wake up several times during the night for milk. Once we give them a bottle of milk they drink it and fall back to sleep again. We have tried feeding them before bed time but it was not successful.

Came here for some reassurance with my 1.5 year old, I have hardly slept in 3 months but she also has her 5th and 6th molars cutting. It doesn't help that she will cry as loud as she can the second she moves around all night long, shes been in her own bed for a couple months now and boy is this rough. She used to bed an amazing sleeper ;(

Hi! It could be a combination on over tiredness, separation anxiety and the not knowing how to fall asleep independently. The video above will help you with the general tips. If you'd like more detailed assistance on how to teach your LO this skill, our program 21 Days to Peace&Quiet walks you through the steps.

My 3.2 year old is put down at 7:30pm every night by me, he Normally plays with a toy for 30-45 minutes in bed and crashes. He sleeps right through to 7am, he never wakes at night. I'm finding that if kids (like adults) have it too warm & tosty, they don't sleep as well and, we usually get warmer in the middle of the night as our metabolism slows to a crawl.
Cooler & a blanket at their side ready to put over if they get cold seems to be good.

      Hi,
The ideal sleep temperature for children is between 68 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit. We always recommend this to our clients, as well as dressing your baby appropriately. If they're older than 2-3, they can also have a blanket.
I hope this helps! Do you have any questions?

My baby just turned 2 years old 6 days ago and she started climbing out of her cot bed when she was 22 months old and today i realised it’s not safe also it’s her first time to sleep do in her bedroom, we used to share a bedroom so there was my bed for her to land on when she climbs out of her cot but now it’s a carpet only and I realised it’s too risky. How do I stop her from climbing out of her cot bed I had to remove one cot rail for her safety and for my peace of mind as I’m typing I’m sleeping on the floor besides her cot for her comfort to get used to sleeping in her bedroom. I would appreciate your advice x

      Hi!
Here is our guide on transitioning from crib to toddler bed:
      www.babysleepmadesimple.com/how-to-transition-toddler-from-crib-to-bed
You can also use these tips to help keep her in the crib as long as possible:
If your crib has uneven sides, put the shorter side against the wall and push it up against a corner, so there are less sides to climb out.
Make sure there are no bumpers, pillows, or blankets that are in the crib that your LO can use for height to climb out. Try a sleep sack.
Have the mattress at the lowest setting
Try this for a few days and nights with a firm “No” when your LO tries to climb out. See if this helps after a few days

We have a micropreemie who had to be fed bottles at night when she was 16 months could stop waking her to feed was never told to wheen her off until 20 months now we are potty training and wondering if we should just tackle night potty training too since she already wakes once at night anyway

    • @Babysleepmadesimple
      @Babysleepmadesimple  2 года назад

      Hi Eden,
Our approach to this is to keep your little one in a diaper at night until they're out of the crib.
Ideally, they sleep in a crib until age 3 years so they can stay safe at night.
If you've already transitioned out of the crib and need help balancing potty training & sleep, I'd recommend you book a private consultation with one of our sleep consultants to discuss this!

    Hello,
My 2.4 year old son started to refuse his afternoon nap. He doesn’t sleep by himself. He never did since a baby. I have to be there next to him until he falls asleep. I used to rock him out but now he doesn’t even want to be rocked anymore. Anyway my back doesn’t allow that anymore either😔
I can’t always lay down with him because the baby on the other hand wont let me. Baby doesn’t sleep either longer than 30-40 min naps, during the day and 30 min sometimes its not enough time for my toddler to fall asleep🤦🏻‍♀️
Could you please send some sleep training advice or any tips what I need to do?
My toddler when he finally goes to sleep at 7:30-8pm will sleep 12 hours straight.
Its that enough sleep for a 2 year old?
The afternoons are horrible because he is super tired and becomes so moody and will have tantrums for nothing because he is overtired. I don’t know what to do to help him. I tried everything i know best and nothing seems to work.
Thank you for your time and support!

He then wakes up again about 4 and because im so tired from going late to bed i bring him to my bed and he sleeps till about 8 in my bed. My 2 year old sleeps 2am or 3am every night/morning and wakes up at 1 or 2 in the afternoon. This has been happening since she was almost 2. She is turning 3 this year in December. Surprisingly she’s very smart and can count upto 13 and knows her abc and her colours. Should I be concerned with her sleeping time? She has way too much energy. I think her sleep was ruined when we moved houses in 2019 when we didn’t sleep until 4am.

You can start to slowly shift her schedule by waking her 15-30 mins earlier each day and then putting her to bed 15-30 mins earlier that night. Move it every couple of days.

I feel like a terrible parent. I'm a sahm and my fiance gets home from work close to 6pm M-F. So if I implemented an earlier sleep schedule, my fiance wouldn't get much time to spend with our son, he's just shy of turning 2. He's been going to sleep inconsistently between 8 and 11pm. It's rough on us, especially me, because I am still breastfeeding as well. I really don't know what to do. I'm so stressed and conflicted over his sleep schedule when I don't get much sleep myself. I tend to wake up late because of this, which ends up affecting my son's sleep pattern.

      Hello,
Please don't feel like a terrible parent! You are the perfect parent for your little one.
Children under 5 years of age do better with earlier bedtimes. An 8pm bedtime is very reasonable at this age. I would have your fiance be very active in the bedtime routine process so that way he can spend quality time with your little one! This works very well for parents on a later schedule.
We do offer 1:1 private Zoom consults if you need assistance creating a customized schedule for your son! We would love to support you.

So sorry to hear that, you (and your little one) must be exhausted.
This is actually very normal - because a well-rested child actually sleeps LONGER, and an overtired child sleeps LESS.
      It's counterintuitive, but it's true!
Once you get in a 1 hr nap/day, her night sleep will improve and she'll sleep 9-10 hrs at night instead.
If your little one still sleeps in a crib, we would love to help you in our program:

Hi I have a 28 month girl. Since she was 7 months she slept alone in her crib in her own room. I got pregnant twice after and the last time I was pregnant I began to have problems with my toddler. Ill be honest she does sleep late but that was never a problem. I think the problem was that I stayed over for my quarantine with my in-laws and my toddler slept with my mom in-law right beside her but in her own bed. When we came back home it ended been a problem, she does not want to sleep in her own room. She cries waaay too much, I tried to sleep with her and leave quietly but in the middle of the night she would come in and sleep in our bed. I don't know what to do. I need for her to learn to sleep in her own bedroom.

I’m going through it right now with my toddler! He just turned 2. He was sleeping in his pack n play but now he cries as soon as I put him down in his room. He cried for an hour and a half 😩. I am now putting him in his crib. He has cried when it’s time to nap and go to bed at night. It’s getting frustrating 🥴. I feel bad because he’s crying I don’t want him to hurt himself crying so much. He even throws up because he’s crying so hard. Ughhh my husband and I are dual military so at times we have to take our daughter (almost 3) to her grandma’s house (my mother in law). She lets our daughter do whatever she wants and go to bed whenever she wants😒. Our daughter has been there the last 2 months while we prepare to move to Alaska, she is in Florida. Her attitude is horrible, she screams when she doesn’t get her way and throws these wild tantrums. Idk how to fix it and I feel my mother in law ruined my daughters routine. She goes to bed at midnight and she lets her nap all day. I’m so terrified to pick her up because I know it’s going to take so much to get her back to her old routine we had and her behavior back to normal, she is out of control and I don’t know what to do, she’s only 2🥺

He has a problem with not wanting to nap until around 2-3pm and im worried it's too late to nap...any advice on trying to make bedtime earlier? • @Babysleepmadesimple
      @Babysleepmadesimple  5 лет назад +1

The best way to have an earlier bedtime is to wake your toddler up earlier in the morning.
Move his awake time earlier by 30 mins every day.
So wake him at 8:30 am today, and 8 am tomorrow. He can be expected to sleep 11-12 hours at night.
You also move his nap earlier so his awake times are 5-6 hours and voila! You have an earlier sleep schedule.
      I hope this helps.

Hi! Sorry to hear that! It is never too late for sleep training and night weaning so you can definitely start now. Here is the guide for night weaning :
      www.babysleepmadesimple.com/weaning-night-feedings
In addition, I would recommend starting with our age base sleep guide which will cover all the basics and help manage expectations at this stage. Implement the guide for 2 weeks straight and you should see improvements.

My toddler same age did this. I’d give her a milk bottle before her bedtime. She was well fed and not hungry she just wanted her bottle for comfort. We stopped getting for her milk and she started sleeping through the night. She now knows she gets on before bed and when she wakes up.

I have 4 kids and one due in a couple months. All my kids are up wayyyy too late...it's 10pm and my 9,7,3& 1 year old are still awake. They went to bed a couple hours ago.... this is not unusual though the older two sometime fall asleep earlier.
My 3 year old comes out of his room often at night.
My 1.5 year old won't go in the pack and play by our bed. We only have 3 rooms... Mom, Dad & 1.5yr, 3 year old by self, 9&7 year old in another room with bunk beds. My 1.5 year old will cry herself sick.... hysterical and throw up if we make her stay in the pack and play... so she sleeps with us laying next to her but can take 30min-2hrs+ to go to bed...
Not sure what to do. I am not okay leaving my little one to cry herself sick (I've tried being in the room and out of the room... it happens either way.)
    What steps can I take?

I am confident we can help your family solve these sleep challenges in our 21 Days to Peace and Quiet program.

I'll take any info/help right now, my toddler (3yrs old) goes to bed at 8pm but he isn't falling asleep until 12-1am and then is awake from 3-5am, sleeps from 5-8am, takes long naps about 3-5pm in the afternoon, because of this I can't sleep and mind set of what's the point sleeping if he is only going to wake up soon, getting about an 1-2hr of sleep a day that its effecting me daily and I'm borderline insomniac and depression. I have stuck to bedtime retinues since be was 6months old, talked to MW and Doctors and nothing has worked (my little guy is a stubborn one haha) this has been going on for almost 3yrs. thank you, I'm going to check out all your links, sub and get back to you on how we go.

Hello and thanks for your message! We would love to help you! I know how tough it is when your little one isn't sleeping. My first thought is that your little one is napping too late in the day. Because he falls asleep at 5pm, he only has 3 hours of awake time until an 8pm bedtime, which isn't enough time. I would try an earlier nap time, 1:30-3:30PM and see how that works. If you prefer more details and a step-by-step guide to get your LO sleeping through the night, then I highly recommend our program, 21 Days to Peace & Quiet. In this program we offer 4 step-by-step sleep training methods. You choose the one that feels best for your LO. We have super gentle & gradual all the way to quick & efficient. Each step of the way you get advice based on your baby’s developmental stage, energy levels, and temperament.
You can find out more info on the program here: www.babysleepmadesimple.com/21-days-to-peace-quiet-program
When you are 100% consistent in following the steps of the program, your baby will be sleeping amazingly within 1-3 weeks. It depends on the method you choose as well as your baby's adaptability. But we cover all of this in the program! Happy to answer any questions you have.Have a great day! / Alyssa, BSMS Support Team

Whenever sleep changes abruptly, I always recommend that parents rule out teething and sickness. We just want to ensure nothing is pain-related. If these are not the reasons, she could be getting closer to this 2-year-old regression and/or getting stronger with cause-effect relationships and understanding what gets her out of bed. Setting up positive boundaries is the way to ensure she gets quality sleep that her busy body and mind need!

I have a 12 month and 23 month old. My 12 month old was pretty good about sleeping on his own in his crib until about 3 months ago. My 23 month old was always rocked to sleep or cuddled (first grandchild) and now he will not fall asleep without holding my hand and being cuddled. Now they share a room but it’s madness trying to get both of them on the same page. I seriously need help I don’t sleep enough myself as they both wake up at least once. I’ve tried to “lay” with my 23 month old and pretend to fall asleep with him but it doesn’t work, while my 12 month old cries because he sees me not paying attention to him. I read to them and they can care less about books they just want to run around.

      Hi,
It's so hard when there's no predictability from our child's sleep. Especially at his age, kids (and parents) THRIVE with a consistent daily routine.
And this is totally possible. It's a realistic expectation for 1-2 year olds.
If he has a medical condition or developmental delay, that could explain his behavior. But if not, you and his parents can definitely get him sleeping easily and well everyday, and much more consistently!
I'm sure it feels so overwhelming and impossible, but you totally can!
I launched a new toddler sleep course a few months ago and it shows you how you can get your nephew to calm down at bedtime and HAPPILY and easily fall asleep on his own (and sleep in his bed all night). Without threats or punishment! It's based on loving and positive parenting. I've been using the steps with my 3 year old son and they work even with a strong-willed and persistent little one! And I've helped hundreds of other parents do the same.
We have a personality assessment at the beginning so you can see where he falls in traits like persistence, distractibility, intensity, sensitivity and more and with this knowledge we show you how to make sure what you're doing is well-suited to his temperament and energy levels. It makes such a big difference!
In the program I show you how to set up a calm and relaxing bedtime routine, so he's ready for sleep and he doesn't need you anyone with him until he's asleep.
All the information on the program is here: www.babysleepmadesimple.com/big-kid-sleep-training

I Co-slept with my first 2 kids and NEVER had a problem.
My 3rd. I had a crib. I have a toddler bed...and he is a nightmare. He won't stay in bed. He has ever symptom of sleep regression. He's clingy...when I try to lay down in his sister's bed with him because they share a room but she still sleeps with me...he gets out of bed turns on the light thinks it's time to party and won't stay still and I'm ready to sleep!! I had to put a lock on his door and lock him in his room so he's not running around the house when I am in bed. I wish my crib wouldn't have broken so he could be in there! It's so exhausting. How are other people doing this?? OK. So what do we do with sleep regression?? I don't feel like I have the energy to fight him...he's way more persistent than I can be.
