    I really enjoy your inspiration videos, as I too struggle with all the points you have described. How do you know when a practice is sufficient, and you should move on? I am taking a few of Violin Lounge classes and challenges ( I really love the programs), and I do not quite know when I am good enough to go to the next level. As there is always something to improve as I practice each piece or etude.

      Thank you very much! I am very glad my inspiration series is helpful.
      Knowing when to go on is challenging because just as you say, one can always improve something. I actually have to force myself to go on because I know that I have a better chance at mastering something if I don't only focus on that one aspect I want to improve. I usually move on when I notice a significant improvement. But I also regularly go back and practice things again. Very often and especially when I am not improving and feel like I'm stuck I go on just to do something different and then go back to what I was struggling with a few weeks later. So by moving on and going back all the time my practicing is never linear.
      I hope this helps you.

      @@vivolin6521quote "because I know that I have a better chance at mastering something if I don't only focus on that one aspect I want to improve".Wondering why? one would think one improves this one aspect by working on it more.

      I actually screenshot your answer to remind myself that the journey is not perfection but consistent improvement, and to take the time to go back and review - allowing myself to learn something new each time I play the piece. Thank you so much. 💓

      @@lemonprince3626 Yes, but that is only true to a certain extent. Eventually one hits a sort of plateau and what one is working on does not improve. That is the time to work on something else for a while because that will help get over the plateau. For example, if one is working on mastering spiccato and one hits that plateau it can help to practice ricochet for a while.

      @@dm-jz7se You are very welcome. I am so glad I can help especially since most of us struggle with this. I too have to constantly remind myself that the journey is not about perfection. Sharing my thoughts here helps me with that as well so Thanks!:)

    I often find that things improve between practice. But sometimes they do not. Rarely do they substantially improve during practice. But how to know if what you're currently doing is going to result in the improvement between practice?

    • @vivolin6521
      @vivolin6521  Год назад

      Most improvement happens during rest, especially sleeping. We do notice improvement happening while we practice (you can feel that, things feel lighter, easier) but it really only becomes permanent while we rest.
