After doing some research on calculating E85 mixes, I was sold on this Bootmod3 kit. Calculating E mixes isn't that hard, but it definitely takes up some time and adds extra steps. Also, if I went with, let's say, an E30 tune without the flex fuel kit and I wanted to go back to 93... I'd have to basically run the car on fumes or drain the tank just so I can flash back to the regular 93 octane map. Ain't nobody got time for that. LOL. Thank a bunch for such a great video. You are the first one to make an install for the B58. Trim removal threw me off but will be doing the install this weekend, I am sure it won't be hard, just maybe a little annoying. How do you feel the car runs with the FF kit? I feel like even without E85 the car will run better knowing how exactly the E content of pump gas is
You’re welcome! Glad to help. You described it perfectly lol. Just a tad bit annoying but easy, especially when trying to fit the device under the top hat on the LPFP. I felt like the car ran smoother and felt nuts when I added E50 🤣. I have a theory that’s maybe why my dyno #’s were low bc I had the map pack flashed. Not sure if that would throw it off or the car would just know the kit is not installed. I’ll ask PTF

Hi, great video, the cable you ran to the front of the car, whats that one for? I'm assuming your flex fuel might have been done before they were integrated into the bm3 software maybe? Cause from what I'm seeing recently there isn't a cable to run to the front? If I'm correct. Thanks
Thanks, where are you seeing that there isn’t a cable to go to the FEM for the B58? Not sure how else it will communicate with the vehicle 🤔

I'm not certain, just confirming?
Yay! Nice addition bro! So little confused, so on the multi map do you select 93 and run whatever E mixture? Or would you run a E50 tune like you mention and keep it close 50% mix so the flex kit can adjust accordingly.
Thanks! Once you have the flex fuel kit installed it does the work for you because the kit along with the DME will be adjusting your tune accordingly. Therefore I just run my map 1 93 octane. Fill up my E mixture, and drive easy for a few miles until I’m getting the most accurate reading with my rpm’s when I pull down on the cruise control button. Of course you would need to make sure your HPFP can support the mix you’ve added and that’s it!

@@skrrtproductions are you able to check what map is auto selected? I guess the sports display will change depending on what map the analyzer adjusts to. I’m just wondering if with 93 pump gas if it auto selects 93 or mppk?

Hey there - to confirm - for flex fuel, the only OTS maps for this is the Multi-Map one? The maps for 91,93,E30,e50 are for those fuels specifically and will not adjust based on ethanol content. Must use the MultiMap OTS tune for flex fuel to work as intended?
Sorry for the late response… first part yes, however, each of the multi maps adjusts with the flex fuel kit. There may be some slightly better performance flashing to the E50 map when having at least an E50 mix, etc. majority of the time I just keep it on 93 and let it adjust accordingly
I have a stock 440i that I am about to buy a tune for, I would def want flex fuel capability. Can I use this sensor and get an MHD flex fuel tune? With this I can have any mixture of e85 and 93 and be safe?
Nice! If you want to go MHD they have their own flex fuel kit. It wouldn’t work to swap them I don’t think. But yes, basically any mixture is fine once it’s fully mixed and reading properly. Also with MHD, I’m not sure if they have the reading on the rpms. From what I saw it’s in app
i got question, after adding this flex fuel kit to stock hplp( gen 2 b58) would it be safe to run full e85? or does it need to blend to get e50?
Not sure about gen2 but you can try to ask a tuner. Typically if you want to run full E85 you need accompanying meth injection and custom tune
thanks for the video, it helped install mine yesterday. Are you using a TU pump? I just set my tune to stage 2 91 flex. Wondering if stage 2+ works correctly with the TU since bm3 says leave the hpfp setting at OEM with a tu pump, but stage 2+ needs to see an upgraded hpfp doesnt it?
Glad to help! I’m on the dorch stage 2 pump. Since your using the tu pump you can go ahead and use the stage2+ map but choose OEM as HPFP selection
@@skrrtproductions in your dyno with e50, did you have the multmap tune chosen or just the regular 2+ e50? Curious if they scale the same and make the same HP. I have seen rumblings that the MM flex tunes dont make the same power.
The multimap tune chosen. Even if it makes less power I’m sure it’s minuscule. Still made 469whp and the dyno is newer so add about 6whp since it’s not fully broken in. I’ll take that all day lol. Custom tune would be where it’s at if you want the most power

Hey man, i'm from Brazil and we use E100 in our cars straight from the factory, almost 97% of the vehicles are Flex Fluel
BTW
The sensor that you put into the fuel pump looks like the sensor they use in our BMW's flex, we have 320, 325i, 328i flex fuel, also we have X1 and Series 1 with flex fuel option.
You can import from here the original flex fluel sensor that bmw puts inside the hood, together with the motor
Also, there's differences between the flex and non flex motors, n20 and b48 has different cylinder head, fuel lines, compression ratio and other stuff to work better with ethanol here, besides all this changes done to the motors, bmw's and e100 here have a bad fame, the oil change usually needs to be within 5k - 6k kms, besides 10k km with gasoline
Also, the original tune with ethanol has the same power and torque as the gasoline.
That’s awesome I appreciate the insight. Yeah when the car is tuned for an ethanol mix it can really make a power difference
Can I run a different map with the flex fuel kit installed? So lets say I want to switch to a 93 flame map for a little bit with just 93 in the tank, am I able to do that safely? Thanks.

What should I do if my car won’t start after install?
Make sure your fuel line connections are good and then double check that the electrical connection is facing the right way and all the way plugged in. Basically go back through and inspect your work

Not even gonna lie the electrical plug into the LPFP I couldn’t even disconnect it. So I just installed the kit while plugged in 😂
