  • The Persona 5 soundtrack is great !
Now, playing this track doesn't feel too difficult, but when I first tried to learn it a while ago, it did feel much more difficult. By making this video, I hope I can help newer playing like the one I used to be to learn a pretty cool bassline too.
Sheet / tab available here :
    drive.google.c...
(Also I just noticed I left "Polyrhythmic Bridge" in the tab, when as far as I know, it's not polyrhythmic but polymeter...ic ? )

For the 6/8 and 4/4 section, the 8th notes align for all the instruments, so you can try to use the 8th notes for time, even if the downward don't match up. It takes 3 bars for the downbeats to line up, and one after is when it switches back. It's one of those things you have to feel, but learning how to feel the count structure by seeing what matches in the parts helps

That transition where the drums catch back up to the rest of the band after being in 6/8 is so tough to get the timing right on. I always come in too early

Sorry for the late reply !
As I said in the video, I don't really have a particular tip to help, unfortunately. Maybe you can more or less "ignore" the drums, as the time signature for the bass doesn't change ?

      Thank you !
I always feel like when it comes to teaching, it is more efficient to give at least a few pointers rather than just raw information 🙂
I'm glad you found this useful !

It's been a while now, but I remember I counted the frames of the video to find the best approximation to fit with the beat of the music.
I'm glad others can appreciate it !

This is some of the most effective pedagocial editing ive ever seen for a game music track on youtube. And i saw that later you began adding the score. Well done!

      Thank you !
I feel like it is worth giving some advice / make some comments on what to play rather than just showing the score like "there, just play this".
You take it or leave it, but at least it's there, and it might be useful for some people. 🙂
      Anyway, thank you again !

Playing the guitar part is so fun, you just 4/4 your way thru the catch-up

The thing that trips me up is to know when to play those syncopated three notes in 4/4 when the only reference you have are drums in 6/8 😅

It's not especially complex, but it can bea little bit tricky to play... Still, it's a cool bass line. Glad I could be of help ! 🙂

Am I a heretic for playing jazzy/funky stuff with a pick? I think it sounds good. I suck at plying with fingee.

    • @adriensquickcovers
      @adriensquickcovers  2 года назад +1

I don't think it is wrong to play with a pick, no. I do think it is an advantage to know different techniques to play, because it opens up different sounds and nuances, but I'm sure you can have plenty of nuance playing with a pick too 👍
So don't worry, you do you !
